View Full Version : You Fucked Up! (The On-Air Punishment Thread)

It's been a time-honored tradition in the world of professional wrestling for workers to be punished for something that they did either on-air or backstage. While I think that punishing those workers on-air is detrimental to just about everyone, sometimes some silly things were bred from it. Exhibit A:
http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2012/243/2/3/perry_saturn_and_moppy_by_windows8osx-d5d3gex.jpg
Perry Saturn was reportedly saddled with the meant-to-be embarrassing 'Moppy' schtick following an incident where he shot on Mike Bell:
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/D3PXIf03PNY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
He sort of made the gimmick work...but not really.
What are some other examples of workers being punished on-air? Who do you think was screwed the most from one of these scenarios? Who do you think turned the scenarios around and made them work?

I guess I could look it up, but you know, reasons.

I actually was listening to Chavo tell that story himself last week on Jericho's podcast.
Pepe came about during the time where Chavo had to be Eddie's personal servant because he lost to him in a match. Somebody made Chavo the "EDDIE GUERRERO IS MY FAVORITE WRESTLER" shirt (which Chavo was ADAMANTLY against wearing on air at first, but it got over), and eventually started going crazy. The original Pepe was Eddie's daughter's, as they were dicking around with it at a barbeque at Eddie's house, and it was suggested that Chavo use it on air. He only planned on doing it once, but it caught on.

don't recall what it was, but I have heard more than once that it was a punishment thing for Henry.
the "rumour goes" that Adonis was given the "Adorable One" gimmick with all of the flamboyant...ness for basically getting really fat. The Mickie James rumour is that she was banging John Cena and got lumped with it after that finished. Not sure how much I believe either of them, the Piggy James one at least.

Not really a punishment I guess, but wasn't Cena's rapper gimmick given to him with the expectation that it had no chance of getting over?

I feel like it was based off of a Halloween episode of Smackdown where he dressed as Vanilla Ice. I could be wrong.
I could definitely see people joking with him and him being like "I actually do rap a little bit, you know" and they were like "Whaaaaaaaaaa?" and the rest is history.

I don't know about the Rooster, but according to Dusty's book, the polka dots were his and Vince's idea. He just had no idea how awful he'd look in them.

Wrestling Superstar Mike Jones has twice been used as a rib on competition. Virgil being a reference to Dusty. Vincent being a reference to... Bob Backlund. :shifty: He also squashed Dusty in house shows.
