View Full Version : Would anyone else be willing to try this for a month

I was thinking for a month I'd totally isolate myself from wrestling news and spoilers. Not discuss angles, not read news, not read spoilers. Just watch Raw and Smackdown and that's it. I wonder how that would change my/your views on the product. Wouldn't know anything going on behind the scenes, wouldn't bitch online. You'd go in fresh every week. It'd be like when we were young wrestling fans.

I would try this.

I mean, I can't really watch the shows in their slots because I don't have cable. But that may add an extra layer to it: not reading results before I catch up so I don't breeze through.

It'd be interesting, although I'd miss shooting the breeze on here.
I was thinking the same thing earlier today in answer to your thread about just enjoyng the product. Came to the same conclusion about missing this place.

I think it would take longer than a month to cleanse yourself of the smark knowledge.

I have considered doing this before.
Right now, I'm never home for raw or ppvs, but now that the network is dropping, I'll be able to do this.

Didn't even watch Raw last week. Remembered it on Tuesday and just read the results here instead of watching. I think I prefer that.

Probably would be impossible due to facebook spoiling everything. I don't usually watch Smackdown.

I was planning on doing this after "Taker Month" (him appearing after the Feb ppv, and leaving after WM)

I was considering doing this leading up to the Rumble so any surprises would actually be legit surprises, but i gave up. If i were to try this, i really do think I'd just gave up again.

if done it should probably be after mania, because this is the best time of year, might give you false hope that its better with no knowledge and that nostalgia may trick you.
but don't you think even without reading anything from the first segment of raw if you've watched for years you can figure it all out right away?

I actually ended up doing this for like 5 months, but only because it was right after a move and we couldn't afford cable until then. I missed the beginning of WWECW, and really I didn't feel like I missed much.

I am actually trying this for SD this week. Avoiding spoilers to see if I will enjoy it as much as I use to back when I used to watch it religiously. We'll see how it goes.

It would make no difference. You don't end up finding out anything that interesting on these sites anyway, and any backstage news is taken with a pinch of salt, of course unless it is Vince McMahon kicking over a bin.
If you watch the product for a month you're just going to see more or less what you expect to see. Project back over the last 6 months and imagine watching those without rumours.
You are trying to polish a turd.

Yeah but I literally read everything, news, spoilers everything. I think I might try it after the Chamber and see what happens. I'll avoid the wrestling forum and go straight to casual and post. Won't see the front page. See if it makes a difference. Like Fatu: Making a Difference.

I did it for a long time and found it really increased my enjoyment.
I really only came back now because I dont have time to watch anymore so this is how I keep up nowadays and make time for things worth seeing.

Whenever I get back into wrestling I do that, it's way more enjoyable. Then I give into temptation, come on here to try and find Kane Knight and the KayfabeMan, but instead see everyone moaning about things and then I start to notice some of their points and it ruins shit lol.
I'd never read the spoilers unless I didn't intend to watch the show though, I don't really get that logic personally. Totally defeats the point for me.
Give it a go, even if you do come on here just avoid the main page/spoiler threads/obvious whining threads. I'm sure your viewing pleasure will increase dramatically. #GoodNewsGertner

I feel like I'd enjoy it even less without the internet. At least with the internet I can discuss and follow it from a business aspect. The business itself is what I still love. Take that away and I'm afraid I'd just be watching a form of entertainment on par with the shittiest soap opera/reality show except with worse writing.
I mean... you usually only hear people talk shit about TNA on the internet and I watched some of it the other day (I usually only follow it online) and I didn't hate it. There were stories to follow. All over the card. I liked that.

Mythbusters proved that could actually be done.

I'd do it but I'd have to stay away from TPWW, and I can't do that because I am an addict.
I think now that I am actually watching it regularly again, I will stop reading Smackdown spoilers though.
Mythbusters proved that could actually be done.
Was that ever in question?
The point of the saying isn't that shining a turd is impossible, it's that once shined it's still a turd. I think they wasted their time on that one.

Doesn't work, at least not in the 100K replies thread, always someone posting about raw/ppvs there.

Whenever I get burnt out on WWE and/or TNA I just stop watching them. And either watch old stuff or indy stuff. Usually after a year or so I get back into WWE. This break I am on is the longest one since I took almost 2 years off in the summer of 2007.

I usually do this ever year to a degree for the month before Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania. They're my two favorite shows of the year, and I really don't like them being spoiled if I can help it.
