It would be Adventure on the Atari 2600 for me.Back when most games didn't have an end. As kids we considered rolling the score over as beating a game. I managed to roll the score over on Yar's Revenge 2 times.
One night in the mid 90s,after I got another Atari,I was tripping on shrooms and played Donkey Kong on the 2600 for 6 hours before losing all my lives. It was also around that time that my friends and I discovered that no matter how drunk/high/fucked up you are you can still play Atari.Sure the graphics and sound are very dated. But the gameplay is still great.

Super Mario Bros 1 - NES, summer of 1987 (I was 12). It had already been out for almost a year, but I had never heard of it till my mother brought it home one day. So this was my official start with videogames.

Super Mario Bros. 3 or Metroid I think, those were the first two I owned at least so I'm sure it had to be one of them.

How are we defining 'completed' here? 100% compoetion, just beating the game or other?
If its the first of thise definitions, I THINK for me it was GTA IV. Don't know about just beating the story or challenge or whatever mode on older games, but that would've been probably something on Genesis, like one of the Sonic games or Vectorman...

Either Contra or Mega Man 2.

Super Mario Bros. 1 on NES.
I tried for MONTHS but could never complete Raiders of the Lost Ark for Atari 2600. Always got stuck in the cliffs area.

Mario 3 probably. Wasn't that good at beating NES games. They were pretty hard. Right now on stage 9 of Zelda (first quest.)

I have never completed a single Zelda game, on the last part of about 4 I think, but get side-tracked by something else and forget about them.

Kirby's dreamland on the gameboy. Loved that gay pink bubble thing.

Well back when I started playing video games very few had endings. So either making it to the end or rolling the score over was completing it.

Just kidding. Fuck that game...every stupid wall looked EXACTLY THE SAME! I fuckin' hated it as a kid, tried to play it as a teenager and STILL hated it. Like, seriously, what a stupid shit port! I honestly dont even know if it was a shit port or just a shit game with terrible design.

Can't honestly remember which, but it was either the original Super Mario Bros. on NES or Castlevania II: Simon's Quest on NES.

Super Mario World for the SNES, it was the first game along with Super Mario Kart that I got with my first console, I remember beating Bowser in his castle, excited to finally beat him at the tender age of 6 years old.

Contra
How old were you? I'm potentially gonna have to call shenanigans on this being the first game anyone ever beat. Notorious for being one of the hardest games of its generation if not ever.

In the event you actually did beat Contra first though then I will bow down to you as a gaming master.

Puh-lease. Contra's a fucking walk in the park compared to games like (the original) Ninja Gaiden.

Every game ever is a walk in the park compared to Ninja Gaiden. But holy shit that opening cutscene was so epic 25 years ago lol.

Probably either Super Mario Kart, Super Mario World, or Donkey Kong Country.
I had an NES, but I don't remember a lot about it except Mario and Duck Hunt, and I don't remember what games I had on it other than that. SNES was what really got me into gaming.

Everyone who ever had an NES should automatically remember the greatness that is Bayou Billy. At the VERY least.

You mean the greatness of the 1-1 (well, all the side scrollng stages really)music. It was funky enough to make you endure the punishly frustrating hit detection (you had to be perfectly in line with enemies to cause damage) and stiff controls (enemies could move way faster than you making it easy for them to hit and run, but making you take forever to punch a pork chop out of a gator... also, that two button jumpkick business). That game would have been so much better if the controls weren't a big part of the difficulty. Especially on driving stages.

Contra and Ninja Gaiden were insane compared to most of today's games. Back then they were above average at best. You think you're hot shit, try and beat Ghosts & Goblins, Battletoads, Silver Surfer, Bucky O'Hare, Metal Storm, or Final Fantasy 3.

Ghosts & Goblins is ridiculously hard, I remember getting really far as a kid, replayed it last year and used up every life and continue just getting to level 3. It haunts my dreams.

Didn't have a console until Super Nintendo (aside from Intellivision, which I didn't really have games that you "beat", just games where you set high scores... and baseball).
So probably Super Mario 3 (as part of Super Mario All-Stars), but with using warp whistles, etc.
Or, I guess I had PC games before console games. Totally caught Carmen Sandiego once.

Also, if anyone says E.T. for Atari I will require as proof one screenshot, one video, and three valid forms of identification, one being with a photograph, the other two being date of birth and SSN. If you don't have all of that then you are a liar.
Contra.
But, with the Konami Code.
Without any cheats, it would have to be Contra. Yes.
