I'm watching Starrcade '86: Night of the Skywalkers

I've honestly never seen the entire broadcast before, just the one hour home video version.

I can't believe how good it looks for being 28 years old. WWE really does a great job in taking care of the old footage and preserving it.

do you think it ever bothers Vince that the lowest days of WWE ratings wise was when he became the play by play man? think it crushes his ego that gorilla and brain and jesse were adored then he stunk up the joint , then he turns It over to JR and boom biggest boom in business history?

WWE picked him up after they bought WCW. He was sent down to HWA Developmental to train. They ended up releasing him in July 2002.

He ended up retiring from active competition around 2003. He now makes tights and boots for other wrestlers. He once in awhile does put on the tights and wrestle.

It bugged me they didn't do anything with him outside of shuffling him off to developmental, that's my point. I know 2001/2 was a different time but I think he could have been used..

I liked Dutch Mantell. He was a good brawler imo.

He was awesome in the old Memphis territory as both face and heel. He pretty much homesteaded for most of his career in Memphis.

Is anyone using the WWE Network on their PS3? If so, how is it working? I assume any bugs will be mostly fixed by June.

Also, how is the interface? Is it like Netflix or something completely different? As a lover of old PPV's, I'm dying to get my hands on this thing.

Also makes me feel like a fool for having stacks and stacks of old WCW/WWF/ECW PPVs on VHS in my closet and refusing to get rid of them for years.

watched most of Starrcade 83 the other day, finishing it off atm. Love it in terms of how they make it feel like a really big event, almost feels like a big legit sporting event, more so than Mania. Which is odd because Mania is an absolute monster now and back in the early days but these first Starrcades just had such a "legit" atmosphere that you don't get any more and never really had in the WWF/E, which was always a bit more "cartoony" and completely pro wrestling...ized. So good.

Watched all the NXT episodes they have up. Not particularly impressed with anyone as far as in-ring stuff goes. Neville's finisher is cool, but it seems like he spends most of his time doing unnecessary backflips.

I like Bo Dallas' gimmick. Pretty funny.

El Generico is surprisingly good on the stick. Looking forward to the Cesaro match at Arrival.

haha Flair was so awesome and cocky talking to Kerry Von Erich.

Still have to wonder how the hell Bugsy McGraw ever got booked anywhere. He does nothing to entertain me and is boring. He's this grown up manchild who is fat and hairy.

He and Jimmy Valiant formed the worst tag team I've ever seen. It was just odd and terrible.

the roundtables always had matches or parts of matches thrown in and was called Legends of Wrestling from day 1. Really hope the Network propels them to make more, haven't been any new ones for a year now, best thing they do

If they do make new ones can they please not have Mene Gene being the moderator? The ones he does are a mess. Also no Ric Flair. Spends the entire time talking about himself.

I watched the first half of GAB 96 up to Benoit/Sullivan. First time Ive seen that in a while. Realized that they gimmicked the bathroom stall door so it would swing out so that they could do the slam the door on the head spot, the rest of the stall doors swung in but not out. Thats still one of the funniest things ever though...who can't laugh at Dusty saying "Theres a lady in the mens bathroom!".

The Malenko/Mysterio match was also really good.

Valiant was completely unbearable during his Boogie Woogie Man phase in Crockett Promotions and after.

I thought he was a good heel with "brothers" Johnny and Jerry in the WWWF.

He was also a good heel working in Memphis in the late 70's-early 80's.

Bah, they probably didn't want to pay the licensing for the song he had back then.

I noticed a few of the Wrestlemenia's I've watched lately that they've changed some music.

Example: Demolition winning the Tag titles from The Colossal Connection. They edited out their "Demolition" theme and threw something else in.

I'm trying to watch the PPVs in order, as I missed most of them from 83-96, except for a few I had on video.

Plan on doing the same for the same reasons although I missed until about 98. Some stuff I've seen already (Wrestlemania DVDs mainly) but not so much the other stuff. Especially WCW/ECW.

Halfway through Starrcade 83 now. Due to the Flair DVD, I've seen the main event but the rest of the card has been pretty entertaining. Orton/Slater vs. Youngblood/McDaniel was very entertaining I thought.

I've just Wiki'd the history to the matches so I have an idea of the feuds. Hopefully by the time I get to mid-late WCW/WWE/ECW, a good chunk of their weekly shows will be on there.

I know there's probably some clunker PPVs on the horizon but should be interesting to see the progression of the business in regards to production/wrestlers/wrestling style etc.

Been watching on Ipad/phone but apparently the 360 is fixed so should be nice to watch it on a TV now.
