View Full Version : A hypothetical Royal Rumble Match situation.

Okay. My mind just came up with this scenario just now.
Let's say that, in a Royal Rumble match, the first 29 wrestlers, somehow, are all eliminated. There's a problem though. They end up all being eliminated before the 30th wrestler enters the ring.
Would No. 30, in that situation, be the winner of the Royal Rumble match by either...
A] Sitting in the backstage area, watching the match on the monitor?
Or..
B] Need to walk down the aisle, and just simply enter the ring, to win the match, and thus, go to WrestleMania to get the title shot?
Opinions on this technicality?

I liked this as well. Not being sarcastic either.
I think the 30th guy would be the winner automatically, I could see this happening to a comedy character and him just being in complete disbelief that he won the Rumble without doing anything.

Would have been great in 2011 if Orton and ADR had gone over simultaneously and then while the refs are trying to figure out whose feet touched first, Santino comes out from under the ring and is declared the winner instead.

This would have been great during that Y2J run where he came out but never talked or actually wrestled until the rumble. It would have been amazing epic heel heat.

When they call your number how long do you have to get into the ring? Couldn't you fake an sprained ankle and then slowly hop/crawl to the ring, taking like 5-6 minutes, or try and do your full entrance Sandman style?

Would love it if they established that you have until the two minutes is up...as soon as the next guy buzzes in you are eliminated...Or maybe you just have to beat the next guy to the ring...
Do an angle where someone is beat down and left in the back...struggles to make it to the ring before the next guy.

Lot of funny possibilities here. Great thread by Ronic.

I have thought of this before as well.
Fun Fact: I booked this exact finish with my WWF action figures in the early '90s. I think Jake Roberts was #30 and won by default when Warlord and Berserker eliminated each other.
Possibly Berserker and Papa Shango.

I'd think if this event were to happen, number 30 would still have to officially enter the match so I'm sure said entrant would just walk out, enter the ring, and the bell would ring. I kind of really want this to happen now at a Rumble, but with someone worth seeing in the main event as number 30.
Better yet, don't let anyone, and I legit mean anyone (staff, superstars, fans) aside from Vince, HHH, Steph, and the guy picked to be #30 know about it.

Could pull a "Godfather"-like move with Fandango by having him just dance during the whole time. Unlike the Godfather, Fandango would start scrambling to the ring once the crowd starts the countdown.

I'm pretty sure that this was established on commentary in the first or second Rumble, only to be ignored in the future.

Also sort of on the lines of the main subject... I loved in the 92 Rumble when Flair and the Big Boss Man were the only ones in the ring halfway through, and when Flair eliminated teh Boss Man Heenan screamed "Flair did it! Flair's the champion of the world!" and Monsoon yelled "Are you kidding? There's a lot of guys left!"

On the subject of Royal Rumble bit and pieces, to anyone who ever smugly stated that they made up the "two feet" rule to cover for Shawn Michaels "botching" his first Rumble win, Jessie Ventura specifically stated in the 89 Rumble "you're not eliminated until both feet touch that floor."

Yes, Macho Man never came out after Warrior "ran him out of the building" in '91. Piper and Monsoon stated that the two minutes was up and whoever had not come out was eliminated.

Yep.
In that scenario, if we take Macho Man and Warrior out of the whole thing, and set them to the side for a second, No. 18 had to be out there before No. 19's buzzer went off to be in the Rumble.
And a few years ago, Finlay jumped the line early, and was DQed from the Rumble for not waiting his turn, just to make the save for Horny.
Shows what I know though.
=P
Would be pretty great if they had a bunch of guys take out #30 (as they've had people take other guys' place in the past) then compete for each other to get in the ring. Would be like a Reverse Battle Royal.

Tweeted former WWE ref about it...

What would happen if the top rope broke during the royal rumble? They make it very clear that you have to be thrown over the top rope to be eliminated. So if there is no top rope then no-one can be eliminated. I guess the Rasslemania main event would be the champ vs 30 people. This needs to happen.

Well obviously the middle rope would then become the top rope by default.

Yeah but that's not the TOP ROPE. It wouldn't count. It would have to be a 31 person main event at Rasslemania.
