I just saw HHH's post on Twitter. I hope it's not true.

WARRIOR WILL LIVE ON THROUGH US HERE AT TPWW

Days after his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame and a return to the company after an 18-year breakup, The Ultimate Warrior has died, according to a statement posted on the WWE website. He was 54.

The news, posted late Tuesday night, led to a flood of tributes from fans and WWE performers and officials and comes on the day the WWE released a DVD in Warrior's honor.

In the statement, the company said, "WWE is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of the most iconic WWE superstars ever, The Ultimate Warrior. …

"We are grateful just days ago, Warrior had the opportunity to take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame and was able to appear at WrestleMania 30 and Monday Night Raw to address his legions of fans. WWE sends its sincere condolences to Warrior's family, friends and fans."

Warrior was known for his energetic style, sprinting down the aisle to the ring; violent shaking of the ropes to psych himself up; and unique interview style that often left fans unsure of his message.

Warrior was born James Hellwig, but legally changed his name to Warrior in 1993. He is survived by his wife Dana and daughters Indiana and Mattigan, who had accompanied him to the podium at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony Saturday night in New Orleans.

"We are all so sad that the Ultimate Warrior has passed away," WWE chairman Vince McMahon tweeted.

Tweeted Stephanie McMahon, WWE's chief brand officer, "Your strength of character is to be admired. There will never be anyone like you. Your spirit lives on in your family."

In his final public appearance Monday night, Warrior donned the long jacket with his image airbrushed on the back, similar to what he wore during his wrestling days, and put on a mask that looked like his trademark face paint. It was his first appearance on Raw since 1996.

"No WWE talent becomes a legend on their own," he told the crowd. "Every man's heart one day beats its final beat. His lungs breathe their final breath. And if what that man did in his life makes the blood pulse through the body of others and makes them believe deeper in something that's larger than life, then his essence, his spirit, will be immortalized by the storytellers -- by the loyalty, by the memory of those who honor him, and make the running the man did live forever.

"I am the Ultimate Warrior, you are the Ultimate Warrior fans and the spirit of the Ultimate Warrior will run forever."

The weekend events were a homecoming for Warrior with the WWE and a chance for fans to embrace him.

"So happy I embraced Warrior with a hug when we saw each other backstage Saturday night," Kevin Nash tweeted. "My heart goes out to his family. Always Believe."

Tweeted Dave Bautista, "After all these years I finally got 2 tell him that me shaking the ropes was an homage 2 him. Blessed to have had that moment."

During his Hall of Fame speech, he credited WWE executive vice president Paul Levesque, a k a Triple H, for helping repair a relationship that had gone sour between Warrior and the WWE. Stephanie McMahon had tweeted a photo of her father and Warrior in an embrace Monday with the caption, "Never say never."

Warrior also had announced a multi-year arrangement to become an ambassador for the company.

WWE released a DVD in 2005 called "The Self-Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior" that featured negative comments about the Warrior's work and persona from WWE officials and other performers. The Warrior was not part of the DVD and its release followed previous contract disputes and litigation between WWE and Warrior. During his Hall speech, Warrior made reference several times to the DVD and said it was "just wrong" and "I wasn't a bad guy."

Among the points of contention between Warrior and the WWE was who owned the name and likeness associated with the character.

In the new DVD, "The Ultimate Warrior: The Ultimate Collection," Warrior says why he thought the previous DVD was flawed and goes on to highlight his start in the wrestling business and provide commentary on some of his best matches.

Warrior began his wrestling career as part of a group of bodybuilders-turned-wrestlers in Southern California. His early career was marked by his work in a tag team known as the Blade Runners with Steve Borden, who would later become Sting. Warrior was known as Blade Runner Rock and Borden as Blade Runner Flash.

His use of the Warrior name came in the Texas-based World Class Championship Wrestling where he worked as the Dingo Warrior and was billed as being from Queens, N.Y.

Warrior came to the then-WWF in 1987 and was re-branded as The Ultimate Warrior. He won his first Intercontinental title from the Honky Tonk Man in a match that lasted less than a minute at the first Summer Slam in 1988. He would lose the title to Ravishing Rick Rude and then regain it at Sumer Slam in 1989.

He was still the champion leading into the main event match at WrestleMania in Toronto in 1990, which might be the highlight of his career. The bout against Hulk Hogan was for Hogan's WWF title and Warrior's Intercontinental title.

Warrior won the match and was embraced and presented with the WWE title belt by Hogan afterward, in a passing of the torch from the biggest star of the 1980s to one of the biggest stars of the 1990s.

"RIP WARRIOR. only love. HH," Hogan tweeted Tuesday night. Hogan had said over the weekend that he hoped to mend some fences with the Warrior and lauded the Warrior's Hall of Fame speech.

Warrior would leave the WWE twice and then return before an ill-fated and brief stint in World Championship Wrestling in the late 1990s.

After retirement, he worked as a motivational speaker.

"Devastated to hear of the passing of @UltimateWarrior," former wrestler Chris Jericho tweeted. "He was a childhood hero of mine & he vs @HulkHogan WM6 is still one of the best ever."

His final speech on RAW

"No WWE talent becomes a legend on their own. Every man's heart one day beats its final beat. His lungs breathe their final breath. And if what that man did in his life makes the blood pulse through the body of others and makes them bleed deeper in others something larger than life, then his essence, and his spirit will be immortalized by the story tellers, by the loyalty, by the memory of those who honor him and make the running the man did live forever. You are the legend makers of ultimate warrior. In the back, I see many potential legends, some with in their Warrior spirits. And you will do the same for them. You will decide if they will live with passion and intensity, so much so that you will tell your stories and make them legends as well. I am Ultimate Warrior. You are the ultimate warrior fans. And the spirit of Ultimate Warrior will run forever."

When I read he collapsed and died I immediately figured heart attack and that it sucked it didn't happen 24 hours earlier since I figure as awful as him collapsing live on RAW would have been, I'm pretty sure he would have gotten medical treatment fast enough to get through it like Lawler did.

Absolutely crazy though on the timing..

Was never really a fan, but damn, this has been an incredibly surreal week for WWE fans. He looked like he was prepared to drop dead any second when he came out on stage at Wrestlemania. So if this turned out to be heart-related or whatever it really wouldn't surprise me.

What a way to end one of the most memorable weeks in WWE history. R.I.P. :(

This is a huge shock. I have a question, though...

Why was he even in an Arizona hotel? From what I understand he was in New Orleans for the shows and if I remember correctly he lives either in Arizona or in New Mexico...somewhere around here. (I'm in the Southwest, as well.)

I guess someone might suggest he might have been vacationing but as I said...he lives out here. And he's LIVED out here for a while. When Zonies or other Southwesterners go on vacation, we go to California or Florida or Hawaii or some place with snow, because we never see it unless we live in the Northern part of the state(s).

I'm sure the details will come out but this is all just really odd. The timing and the circumstances.

Condolences to the family, obviously. I was a huge fan as a kid. Saw him at countless house shows either against Andre or Rude. Always a fun time, I cherish those days.

Geez, this is nuts. When I first read the news, I thought possible cardiac arrest or something stemming from years of some sort of bodily or drug abuse, sort like how Eddie died. This is unreal, given that he was live on RAW last night, and at Wrestlemania, and inducted into the HoF on Saturday. And there was that really nice backstage photo of him with Vince.

Warrior is ingrained in my earliest WWF memories. He was definitely a big part of my childhood, like he was for a lot of people here.

Rest in Peace, Warrior. Hope you're no-selling finishers up in the squared circle in the sky.

Yeah

He did seem to have a sad/agonising look on his face and until we get a post morgen result we won't know for sure. But I would speculate it was a combination of all those years of steroid abuse, the stresses of his issues inside and outside the ring and perhaps the pure emotion of the past few days and weeks that sadly just proved too much for the Warrior to physically handle.

I am just glad it wasn't suicide as I can imagine the critics getting the knives out to call him a wacko etc if that had been the case. I mean I always admired him but did consider it rather odd he legally changed his name to Warrior but I judge him on his ring work and he is certainly one of the all time greats. I'm glad he finally 'came home' to wwe before passing on.

What horrible news to wake up to. I was shocked when I found out, just like everyone.

The timing is very strange as has already been said. Just like a few people, I also noticed Warrior holding his chest during WrestleMania and Raw but I just thought it was the emotion of everything getting to him, with him signalling to everyone that we're in his hearts or that he loves us. That kind of thing.

Weirdly enough, during Raw, as Warrior was leaving the ring and walking down the steps, I did for some reason think about what would happen if he or any "old" wrestler collapsed on Raw, just like Lawler did but as the camera was focused on them. I don't know why I thought that but I did and now this news. :-\

It's all very strange.

Such a sad time. It's both sad and nice at the same time as he finally made up with Vince, was alive to be inducted into the Hall of Fame and make an appearance on Raw and leave us all a message that well all most likely remember forever, but sad that all those aforementioned nice things had to end with his sudden passing.

R.I.P Warrior.

My opinion based on what I saw this weekend and what's been written.

Warrior abused steroids harder than any WWE Superstar we know of. Every single drug test he was called on flunked for some kind of anabolic. Every single one. He even wrote letter's claiming how it wasn't fair that the WBF didn't have to go by the same regulations as the WWE wrestlers.

I think that the weekend was a huge anxiety for him and a life altering cathartic experience that was just to much for his likely enlarged heart. There was clearly something off about him on Raw, I wouldn't be surprised if he even had the heart attack shortly before or after TV that night.

Extremely saddened by this but selfishly grateful he got his chance to come back one last time and find his rightful spot in the WWE Hall of Fame.

I was truly shocked this morning, and had to visit several news sites before it truly sank in. While we all talk about Ryan Clark being a bit of a tool, TPWW news is still one of the first news sites I visit in a morning.

Hate and resentment are powerful emotions, and can fuel a man for a long time if he lets it. I'm nowhere near the level of Warrior, or other people I know who have had a difficult life, etc. but about a year ago, I had built up a lot of anger, hatred and bitterness to one person. When I finally confronted the person, and then let go of the hatred, the outpouring of emotion I felt was immense, and then there was a genuine period of emptiness and I didn't know what to do with myself. I felt directionless.

I was so happy to see him back where he belongs, and that everyone appeared to be building bridges. All the resentment and hate that Warrior must have been carrying for a long, long time that he has let go all at once must have left him so emotionally, and potentially physically drained.

I hope he gets a damn fine send off from WWE

Anyway... #RIPUltimateWarrior

I think what is difficult to digest is the timing of this coming what would appear to be less than 48 hours after making long awaited returns to both Raw and Wrestlemania to hughe fanfare. There was nothing to suggest he was suffering from ill health and it's not like he expected to die so suddenly. It feels so odd to be discussing this and totally unbelievable......he was one of my all time favourites alongside Hogan and even though it was ill fated, I still enjoyed every moment of his WCW stint because for me it was just amazing to see the Ultimate Warrior again.

I'm just pleased he made his peace with McMahon and the WWE and was welcomed back into the fold and was able to address the fans albeit for one final time.

It's almost like a movie all this. Hero to zero then back to hero and then departs this world.

It's awful, especially for his wife and kids but couldn't be much more romantic from a wrestling fan point of view. Rest in Peace Ultimate Warrior. You were always my favourite wrestler, a childhood hero, and an inspirational human being outside of the ring / post-wrestling.

We are all so fortunate to have seen you in a WWF ring one final time, although if stress / emotion from this past weekend contributed to your passing, it is all the more tragic.

As was already pointed out, both Macho Man and Ultimate Warrior finally get back into the WWF family, only to die from heart attacks a short time later. Warrior mentioned that he was signed on to be a brand ambassador, it would have been great to see more of him. He had kept himself in great physical looking shape. :'(

Warrior will live on forever in the lives of the 80's to early 90's kids generation (the 30+ year olds at present). Irreplacable, never duplicated, one of the all time special characters.

Warrior got a proper, and full, chance to make peace with everybody in WWE, and a chance to give a proper farewell to us all.

Thank God he did. Warrior will be forever loved for being willing to always giving 200% in what he did, and for treating the fans with respect and appreciation, giving us positive messages to inspire us all, and to say, in his own intense way, 'Thank You'.

To him, it was all about the fans in the stands, even if it meant that he had to rub some people within the WWF/WWE the wrong way. He suffered no fools, and kept everyone in the locker room honest with themselves at all times.

He also was not afraid to take action, when he saw any talent being selfish at the expense of the fans, like when he called Triple H to task before WrestleMania XII, and telling him to be a man, to be up front with people in the locker room, and not to go sniping about things behind other wrestlers' backs.

To Warrior, The Ultimate Warrior, even though I am not someone who's ever been in a gym much, on the physical side of life, I do thank you for helping me be a more honest person with others I interact with, and to cut out ALL bullshit I see around me.

Thank You, Warrior, and may you find the Macho Man waiting for you at the Gorilla Position, to welcome you into The Eternal Squared Circle, where you will entertain the biggest audience of all.

To Warrior's family, nothing but love and comfort for you right now. You had a good household mentor in Warrior, and I hope that you can continue his legacy of positivity and truth, and to NEVER settle for second best in life. Pound your chests with pride in who you are.

And to any remaining critics of Warrior, I implore you to forgive him now. He made his peace with those with whom he had controversy in the past, Hulk Hogan included. I want all the stupid memes about Warrior to stop too. It's time for you critics to grow up, and be more mature people.

May We ALL Always Believe!

Take care on the other side, Warrior, and go get all the legends you're now a part of, and give them a gorilla press slam, and Warrior splash for us all!

=)

WWE execs and producers are rushing to put together two special tributes for Ultimate Warrior ... the first of which is just a few days away.

WWE sources tell TMZ ... next week's "Monday Night RAW" episode will memorialize Warrior with much more than the standard blank screen R.I.P. given to most wrestlers who pass away.

We're told producers are still working out details of the show -- but it will most likely showcase U.W.'s most memorable moments ... as well his final appearance in the ring last week in New Orleans

The WWE is also putting together a special that will air on its network next Wednesday, tentatively titled, "Warrior: The Ultimate Legend."

I was thinking about that trailer a few days ago. Then I realised this:

Savage and Vince/WWE are on bad terms with each other and Savage isn't seen on WWE television for years. Suddenly, he promotes an upcoming WWE game (All Stars) and things begin to look up for their relationship and the future. Savage then has a heart attack and dies.

Warrior and Vince/WWE are on bad terms with each other and Warrior isn't seen on WWE television for years. Suddenly, he promotes an upcoming WWE game (2K14) and things begin to look up for their relationship and the future. Warrior then has a heart attack and dies.

Wow. I'm still really sad about this, I probably always will be when it comes to mind. I'm so sad that we will be depraved of all the gold that could have come from Warrior in 2014. That video for WWE 2k14 is hilarious.

Authorities in Phoenix say former pro wrestler The Ultimate Warrior died of cardiovascular disease.

Maricopa County spokeswoman Cari Gerchick says that's the finding from an autopsy conducted Thursday by the county Medical Examiner's Office.

The 54-year-old wrestler's given name was James Hellwig. He collapsed April 8 while walking with his wife to their car at a Scottsdale hotel and was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Scottsdale police have said there were no signs of foul play.

The Ultimate Warrior was one of pro wrestling's biggest stars in the late 1980s.

A heartfelt message from Ultimate Warrior's wife, Dana Warrior

http://www.wwe.com/f/wysiwyg/image/2014/04/warrior_family_642.jpg

Dearest Warriors,

It is with an absolutely broken heart I reach out to you. Since the passing of my husband, I have been fortunate enough to insulate my sweet girls and myself from the outside world. In this bubble we have grieved and continue to do so. For a week, I did not allow any television or media to seep through our cocoon. I was told, though, of the outpouring of love for my beloved husband and support for, as he always called us, his Warrior Girls. I can only say thank you.

On Sunday night, I was told WWE would pay tribute to Warrior and so I set the DVR planning to watch it when we were ready. As the hour neared, I broke resolve and turned on every TV in the house to full blast and snuggled our daughters close to me on the couch, unsure what we would see. As the scene unfolded with that amazing roster of talent gathered donning Ultimate Warrior shirts and even his face paint, we cheered and sobbed simultaneously. To everyone who stood there, thank you. My girls will remember your bowed heads for the rest of their lives. You are not just Superstars; you are super people.

I cannot put words to what that video tribute meant. We watched it multiple times and, this morning, it was how I started my day; mornings are the hardest for me. I will treasure that song and those images more than anything I own. Vindication. ULTIMATE PERFECTION.

I was told it was reported WWE was "there" for us. "There" is the understatement of a lifetime. They were a warm blanket to us three and we were quickly absorbed into their family. Words are cheap; promises are forever. This family is one I'm honored to be a member of and will gladly be the warm blanket to any of them who need me next.

My husband's speech had so many highlights for me as I sat proudly in the audience looking on at his moment ... I most loved his request for the Hall of Fame to include the, as he called them, "true Superstars," those behind-the-scenes people who make the machine run. See, I'm the person who puts up the ring in our house. I'm the background person who makes things happen seamlessly. I am surrounded by performers in my husband and children, so I felt a kinship with all the people he wanted to shine a spotlight upon who make WWE work. He loved you all, and knew that each of you made his run there possible. Thank you!

To all the ULTIMATE WARRIOR fans: THANK YOU!! He told me when he shook the ropes it was him gathering strength from each of you. Warrior respected you and loved you as do the girls and I. I will reach out to the ropes for your strength to sustain me in the sad days that the girls and I face. UNWAVERING is what you've been. GRATEFUL is what we are.

The Undertaker and I have a lot more in common than you might think. You see, I had a bit of a streak of my own going for the last 20 years. Yes, Warrior and I would have matches of our own ... He would yell, I would cry, he would submit, I would win - always. My quivering chin and "pooched" lip was always more powerful than any clothesline or gorilla press slam. He'd laugh and shake his head and say,"you win, Pooch," but really we both did.

My streak was broken April 8, 2014 when he collapsed. I fought and screamed and cried for him not to leave me, but I wasn't to win this round. Heaven won and I lost, but I had the ULTIMATE love for 20 years and my children learned to be Warriors from THE ULTIMATE DAD. I wouldn't trade a moment of the life we shared, good or bad, for anything on God's green earth. He is the love of my life and gave me the gift of our beautiful, sweet, amazing girls. He was loyal and kind and strong and brave. He taught me to live by his creed,"Live Strong, Act Bold, Be Brave. Nothing's too hard to do, ALWAYS BELIEVE," and with that creed I will carry on and make him proud.

Streaks are broken but legends live forever.

Always Believe,

Dana A. Warrior

Why? For wanting to reach out and say a genuine thank you to WWE, its talent and its fans in her time of most grief?!

Sounded more like a deranged Warrior promo than a heartfelt response....maybe that was the point of it though.

Sad though

No it didn't, Disturbed. Your response makes me think you are a misanthropic scumbag who enjoys preying on the pain of other people, just for a few laughs for yourself.

Your crack about what she said, and the type of comments you made about her, shouldn't be tolerated here. I do NOT find what you said funny AT ALL about it. You are expected to show a lot more discretion in your comments at this rather un-settling time for her and her family.

And tough shit for you if you don't like what I said about that. You're wrong to call me out, on me calling absolute bullshit on what you said, and you know it.

Be a real man(if that's what you are, which I doubt), and apologize. Asswipe.

Wow, chill out dude. What's so wrong with saying the statement sounded like one of Warriors promos?

Your original post came off to some as calling her something like a “psycho bitch” or anything else offensive along those lines. You have to be more careful how you word posts in threads likely to be loaded with emotion, dude. That’s all I’m saying. I’m sure you’re not some horrible monster but COME ON! Did you really not see that maybe, just MAYBE, somebody might take offense at how you worded that?!

I believe Warrior knew he was going to die so he made peace with WWE, signed the contract and entered the Hall. Probably knew he had less than a year left, but dying the day after Raw was freaky.

Look... she married a guy who was pretty far out to lunch, allowed her name to become "Dana Warrior," and channeled his promo style in a message to his fans following his death. I'm sure she's a lovely person and I wish her nothing but sympathy and consolation in her time of grief, but let's not ignore reality here. It clearly takes a special kind of person to be Mrs. Warrior.
