Help me decide what I should do...

http://www.gog.com/game/tesla_effect_a_tex_murphy_adventure

This game is coming out on May 7th...

The Tex Murphy games were pretty sweet back in the day.

However, my Macbook Pro does not meet the minimum requirements for the game.

Need 4GB of System RAM, I have 2GB. Need 512MB Video Ram, I have 128MB.

HOWEVER, this is what it says for "The Wolf Among Us" as well. The same requirements. But I was able to play it. Lagged at times, but for the most part was entirely playable. SO I DON'T KNOW.

Do I pre-order it and then take the chance on whether it will actually work good or not?

If you pre-order it, you get one of the previous games for free (which came out in 1996, so my computer is good enough to play that one).

The 1996 game, they are selling for $9.99, the pre-order for the new one is $17.99....... so if I act like I am paying the $10 for the old game, I am only paying $8 for the new one which I may or may not be able to play.....

I dunno....

Are you going to be upgrading or buying a new computer any time soon and is GOG similar to Steam in allowing the same game to be downloaded to multiple computers?

I'd lean towards yes either way since at least you'd have the old game to play in case the new one doesn't run well.

Too expensive to buy a new computer... no idea about upgrading.... no idea about GOG or Steam....

FAQ says:

2. Can I re-download my purchased games? Is there a limit to the number of re-downloads?
You can always re-download games bought at GOG.com via the “My account” page. Also, there is no limit to the number of redownloads, but please remember that you're not allowed to share your GOG.com account with other users as only you are entitled to download games from your account.

Upgrading the Ram wouldn't be all that expensive, just make sure you buy the right type. I had to bring my RAM stick to Staples so they knew which one I needed.

Video cards aren't too bad, but you've got to pay attention to the power supply requirements.

Sorry, I was just running on. I skipped over the fact that you own a MacBook, not a desktop PC.

Taking that into consideration, buy it. You can see how it plays and adjust the in game graphics options to see what works best.

You can upgrade a MacBook, I believe. Worth looking into

Too lazy to look into upgrading my Mac... would probably cost $ too.... Doesn't seem worth all that just to play one game...

UPDATE: I have officially per-ordered this game. Quitting TPWW forever if it doesn't work. New one is released tomorrow on the 7th.

Also, thinking about it, this may be the first game I have ever bought.

I remember Pandora Directive being pretty sweet, but this looks crap.

UPDATE: I beat Pandora Directive (the 1996 game) and went to play the new one.... new one is just too laggy on my computer.....

BS.... my computer is supposed to be "good".... shouldn't make stuff that is too good to run well on my "good" computer....

Wasted money on a game I can't play....
