SmackDown kicks off with a contract signing between Hornswoggle and El Torito

* Rob Van Dam vs. Jack Swagger is next. Cesaro and Paul Heyman are on commentary. Swagger decks Cesaro with a sucker punch. RVD gets the win with a Five Star but Cesaro attacks him after the match.

* R-Truth comes out to a big pop to face Alexander Rusev. Rusev wins by disqualification when Xavier Woods interferes.

Daniel Bryan comes out to a big pop and he's still wearing the neck brace. He cuts a promo on Kane and their match at Extreme Rules. The pyro goes off and Kane appears on the big screen. Kane cuts a promo

* The Wyatt Family vs. The Usos and Sheamus is up next. The crowd was said to have been 50/50 for each team. Bray Wyatt hits Sister Abigail on Jey Uso for the win

* Dolph Ziggler vs. Damien Sandow is up next. Sandow comes out dressed as Magneto again. Ziggler gets the win.

* Big E defeated Titus O'Neil by DQ when Titus wouldn't break a 5 count. Big E took a nasty table bump during the match but looked to be ok. They had a crazy brawl after the DQ and Titus got beat up bad

* Dean Ambrose defeated Ryback, Curtis Axel and Alberto Del Rio in a Fatal 4 Way to retain the United States Title. Ryback had the match won but Axel pulled him out of the ring. Axel went for the win but Ambrose pinned him. There's a fight after the match. The Shield comes together and hits a triple powerbomb on Ryback to end SmackDown.

Rob Van Dam vs. Jack Swagger should have been a weed on a pole match that lasted 4:20.

Best part about smackdown tapings is me asking a very important question.

With the comparisons between Daniel Bryan and Chris Benoit, does anyone else find it strange that both of them went into second-tier feuds against Kane after defeating Triple H and his friends (HBK and Orton/Batista, respectively) at WrestleMania, while Triple H went on to have other feuds that took the spotlight?

Benoit defended the World Title against Kane at Badd Blood where Triple H faced HBK in HIAC.

Now, Bryan is facing Kane at Extreme Rules while Triple H will most likely main event with Orton and Batista against the Sheild.

I'm just saying. It's kinda weird.

Best part about smackdown tapings is me asking a very important question.

I'd say Ambrose defending the U.S. Championship, in a Fatal 4-Way no less, makes this show MORE than worthy of taping.

Also, Monday marked 344 days for Ambrose with the belt, which makes him the longest reigning U.S. Champion since the title became part of WWE in '03. He overtook M.V.P., who had reigned for 343 days in 2007-'08.

I really want to see a Dean Ambrose vs. Triple H feud over the US Title. I just think Crazy Dean fighting Triple H would make for good television. Have Triple H beat Ambrose for the title at Payback or something, perhaps in shady fashion, and have people absolutely salivate to see Ambrose get another shot at his belt.

I like that idea, but I'm a sucker for long title reigns, so would have Ambrose keep the title.

I agree, actually. I've changed my mind and would want to see Ambrose retain. The mark in me wins out.

How about this:

* The Shield beat Evolution at Extreme Rules.

* On RAW, The Shield cut a promo talking about their win. Ambrose drops a line like "Instead of sending three of your goons to try and take it off me, how about you come after my US Title yourself like a real man, Hunter?"

* It's a case of "Be careful what you wish for..."

* Triple H slants things in his favor by banning The Shield from ringside, but otherwise making it No Disqualification.

* On the night, The Shield do what they did on SmackDown recently, and take out all the heels they know are going to be backing up Triple H against Ambrose, so Dean at least has a fighting chance.

* When it comes time to the match, everyone has been taken out. Ambrose and Triple H thus tear it up on their own.

* Ambrose gets the clean win because he's an insane muthafucka.

I don't see how keeping Heath Slater off Smackdown this week benefits anyone

Slater was on during the El Torito/Hornswoggle segment, and of course, stole the spotlight.

I'm hoping that El Torito and Hornswoggle actually get the time to tell a story. Like women's wrestling, I do believe that if there are strong characters in a Minis Division, that it could be a viable part of programming. The WWE can bring in Peter Dinklage for a RAW Guest Host appearance and have him slog Hornswoggle.

They should have someone come in every week to slog Hornswoggle.
