Home Video and other merchandise partners have reportedly been issued a memo from WWE in recent weeks stating that the new logo will come into effect on August 18th, 2014.

The current “scratch logo” is said to be phased out from then on, with the new “Network logo” used for all branding and consumer products moving forward. The August 18th date is noteworthy because it is one day after the SummerSlam 2014 pay-per-view event.

We would consider this date and the new logo changeover itself to be subject to change and unconfirmed until an official announcement is made publicly by WWE.

Any thoughts on the "Network Logo" becoming the permanent/official logo?

When the network fails they can have a new logo and a campaign to get the fucking network out

Also obviously means a new belt is coming

I think it's slick.

Also, why will the Network fail? Not even saying I disagree, but I'd like to know why you feel that way.

The interwebs are saying the network is losing money. So that's why people are saying it might fail.

All new technological endeavors lose money their first (or couple) of years. Nothing new there.

Also, because Droford hates the world it seems.

They're bleeding money now as it is because of the network. It might not be that the network "fails" per se, but that they can't afford to keep it running financially.

At some point I think they'll drop being able to watch current PPVs for the $10 price but offer a ppv add on package. Probably drop the cost of PPVs to get back on satellite and cable..

They arent losing money on the Network, it is just making alot less than they hoped. Thats two different things.

They also made less on their new TV deal than expected, but still more than they were.

This led to a stock price drop to correct their over growth, and thus they are now making cuts to improve their profitability to raise the stock price back up.

But thats totally the same thing as bleeding money.

Good job Droford!

I think losing $750 million in 2 months qualifies as bleeding and the network's performance is a primary cause..

Hanso Amore
06-18-2014, 05:13 PM
Where did you get that number? The company didnt lose 750 million dollars in two months. Vince McMahons net worth dropped based on the stock price drop...

Once again these are different things and you are showing a complete lack of understanding on the topic.

Yeah, Vince owns 52% of the WWE and losing $750 million in 2 months means nothing to the company itself.

The current WWE projections for next year have them losing money unless they hit a range of 1.16 million Network subscribers. For this year, their own internal projections are losses of between $45 million and $52 million – which would be the biggest financial loss in the wrestling industry EVER apart from the WCW $62 million loss in 2000. That’s pretty scary when you think about it, WWE’s losses being discussed in the same sentence as the now defunct WCW.link

I read, I think it was in USA Today, that they "expect to lose $40-52 million on The Network this year."

Not sure that counts as bleeding money, however.

WCW lost $60 million in 2000 and you know what happened there.

Back to the main intention of the thread, I like the logo. Its better than the wwe scratch logo. The inclusion of the word network is dumb though. The company isn't WWE Network.

Logo is nice and something that should have been done years ago or at least once the brand split era ended.

I'm somewhat surprised at the positive reaction the possible new logo is getting.

I thought most people here would be against it.

But much like you guys, I also like it. It's clean, crisp and it shows that the company is changing with the times. The more I look at it, the more I like it. I hope though, that along with the new logo, comes other positive changes.

Maybe the new logo will come into force around the same time Roman Reigns pretty much becomes "the guy" and Cena slowly (and I mean slowly) leaves the spotlight. He's thirty-seven years old and he's not getting any younger, but he can still go like a beast.

Though it will be a bit sad to see the "scratch logo" go, as It's been kicking for around seventeen years, with and without the F.

I see this thrown around a great deal but no one who throws these numbers around bother to mention that over the past 5 years the stock is down DOLLAR.... and since last year is actually UP a Dollar

Even if they lost this much, which isnt true and is all speculation, WCW lost 60 million on like 100 million total revenue.

WWE is a billion dollar product that losing that much wont put them out of business,

And once again most of this is stock releated.

WWE network costs are much lower than these people are lettting on

New logo works great for the network, sure, but I think it'd look pretty gimped down in the lower-left of the screen. Guess I've just become so acclimated, so accustomed even to both the WWF and WWE scratch logo that in a way it kind of feels like saying goodbye to an old friend, that is if this proves true.

Yeah let's just neglect the fact this is stock based. While we are at it, let's neglect the fact that a couple months beforehand he gained 600 million due to stock fluctuations, which means in reality, he only lost 150 million.

You'll never learn that people see through your nonsense on a consistent basis, will you?

They kind of gave it away when they did the WM31 press conference and hype videos and it only used the new network logo.
