View Full Version : Random Rumble: Re-Writing WWE History

I watched a couple of Royal Rumbles on the WWE Network the other night and thought I'd bring in a game I saw on another board. We haven’t had a “Give or Take” game on here in a while, so I figured I would try one with a different spin.

2 wrestlers start with 0 votes. You vote for who you want to see eliminated. After the first 5 votes are cast, the next participant enters, 5 more votes, next participant enters, etc. If there are a ton of people in the ring the interval will last a little longer to move things along but the general rule will be the vote cap is in effect if there are 5 or less in the ring. If the vote is not capped, in classic Give or Take rules, you have to wait at least 5 votes before you vote again.

Wrestlers are eliminated once their vote total reaches 5. There is no voting to save anybody – but their total will drop if they last an interval without being nominated for elimination. There will be a voting tally each time I do an update.

Now for the “random” part of the game – anybody who has ever competed in a Royal Rumble match is eligible to show up in this. Wrestlers will be the age and gimmick they were when they entered their first Rumble, and they’ll progress through each subsequent appearance (ex: we’ll see Rocker Shawn Michaels a few times before we see HBK).

It’ll take ages to work through the Rumbles especially when I’m busy and such. But there’s really no rush, I’ll keep it going as long as people are interested. Also allows me to pseudo-write out Royal Rumbles, which I enjoy doing every year around the actual Royal Rumble time for god knows what reason.

Will be fun to see how awesome (or terrible) we manage to make our alternate WWF/E Universe.

Anyway, let’s go!

1988 Royal Rumble
January 24, 1988
Copps Coliseum (Hamilton, Ontario)
Announcers: Vince McMahon and Jesse Ventura

VM: “And now it’s time for the first ever Royal Rumble match! This is going to be something unlike we’ve ever seen before. Let’s send it up to Howard Finkel for the rules.”

HF: “Ladies and gentlemen – it is now time for the Royal Rumble match! In this contest, participants who drew the numbers 1 and 2 will start. Every 2 minutes thereafter, another wrestler enters the ring according to the number he drew. Elimination occurs when a superstar is thrown over the top rope and both feet touch the floor. The last man remaining in the ring after all 20 participants have entered will be declared the winner of the Royal Rumble.”

As the camera pans back, we see two men already in the ring with Finkel, facing each other in opposite corners.

“The first participant, from Mexico City, Mexico – weighing in at 180 pounds – Sin Cara!”

The crowd gives a rousing ovation to Sin Cara, a legendary luchador flown in from Mexico just to participate in this special attraction match.

“And the second participant, from Vero Beach, Florida, weighing in at 225 pounds – The Red Rooster!”

VM: “Well this will be an interesting start, to say the least!”

JV: “I don’t envy these two guys having to start this off. No way can anybody last all the way to the end in this thing.”

VM: “The bell’s about to sound, the Royal Rumble is underway!”

Sin Cara: 0
The Red Rooster: 0

I assume we can each only vote once per interval?

More often than not, yes. It's once every 5 votes, so feasibly you can vote more than once in an interval if there are a ton of people in the ring but it'll take a while to get to that point.

I think once we get through a few intervals everybody will get the "process" a bit better.

Evidently not. I've seen similar games run on other boards and figured it would catch on here once it got going since it can actually be pretty fun.

I'd be glad to continue on if we can get 4 more people to vote but seeing as there's like 130 views and only 1 vote I can kinda assume nobody cares. Oh well, I tried. :-\

I vote to eliminate the Red Rooster and then have him exploded

You have to make a poll if you want people to vote. People are lazy and would rather click the choice than type it out. Have a feeling Crash Holly would have won this. He was a legend.

Can you change poll options several times within the same topic, clearing the votes after each round? Cause there is no way in fuck I'm making a new topic for every single interval lol.

This is stupid just like all other give and takes we attempt. It gets dominated by trolls with unlimited free time who ruin it.

Quit ruining stuff guys.

Also...

The crowd gives a rousing ovation to Sin Cara, a legendary luchador flown in from Mexico just to participate in this special attraction match.

So this other board where I got the idea from actually just finished up their Random Rumble game after like 6 months and 273 pages of it going on. Some intriguing, Armchair Warfare-esque storylines got created as a result, and afro-wearing, Tongan death grip-giving, motherfucking Haku eliminated Shawn Michaels to win the 2014 Royal Rumble.

We could have had that. Fuck you all. :(
