So a few days ago I had the power go out for like 16 hours to half my apartment because of a short circuit and ever since then my 32" Sylvania TV won't pick up any HDMI ports, not the cable box, not my PS4 or the 80 GB PS3. I tried 3 different HDMI cables. I hooked up my PS3 on 2 other TV's, still no signal for some reason (the other TVs have a better resolution if anything)

When I use VGA with the PS3 it says it detected an HDMI source and when I press okay to switch to that input I get nothing on the video input or the HDMI. I have to restart my PS3 to get the VGA signal again.

My PS4 worked with the other TV right away, so yay to that. So since my cable can't pick up any HDMI my last resort is trying to plug my TV into another cable box and see. But I think chances are it's a cheap TV, I had it for years and I need a new one.

It's the TV. You tried three different HDMI cables. Something inside your TV got screwed up by that power-surge.

As for the other TVs, you might want to look at the input settings on the TVs themselves.

Thank you. It just seems weird that I had no issues like that, the TV was off and it gets screwed up. But I thought about it and I had it for like 4 years so it's not unheard of to have weird issues like that.

At least I'll try to get a better TV that's about the same size in a few weeks.

Suggestion: Get some surge protectors too.

The regular ones? I have like 4 of those, 2 under my computer area, 1 by my TV and another that uses like 3 appliances :D

I have one semi-expensive UPS for my computer and router. Ordered it from best buy because it was expensive enough to qualify for free shipping and fuck lifting heavy things. Has helped survive a few thunder storms so far.

I was looking at those a few months ago, I'll keep it in mind for sure. It could save my PS4 from shutting off wrong if it's in sleep mode and the power goes out.

Is that thing actually that heavy though? 23 pounds? o.O

It is when your back is perpetually fucked.

Feels heavier because it is packed into a small box.

TV definitely fried, UPS (not brown) will prevent this in the future.
