As my 30th Birthday is looming upon me, I find myself increasingly wanting to delve more into the music of the 80s, so music fans of TPWW hook me up with some great albums from that decade; it can be any style of music, as long as the album is good.
I already have albums by the following artists/bands so you don't have to recommend anything by them:
AC/DC, Aerosmith, AIC, Anthrax, David Bowie, Kate Bush*, The Cult, The Cure, Faith No More, Fleetwood Mac, Foreigner, Peter Gabriel*, Guns'N'Roses, Husker Du, Iron Maiden, Rick James, Journey, King Crimson*, King's X, Alison Krauss, Meat Puppets, Megadeth, Metallica, Minutemen, Nirvana, Pixies, The Pogues, The Police, Prince, Queen, REM*, The Replacements, Joe Satriani, Sepultura, Paul Simon, Slayer, The Smiths, Sonic Youth, Tallis Scholars, Talking Heads, Testament, Ultravox, Van Halen, ZZ Top
There are probably other artists that I have albums for from that decade, but I can't be arsed sifting through my 1000+ CD collection.
I have a list of albums that I am already going to buy, but it is still small:
Kate Bush - The Dreaming
Peter Gabriel - So
King Crimson - Beat, Three of a Perfect Pair
Mission of Burma - Vs
REM - The Reckoning

The only one you really need to hear all that encompasses the decade of the 80s is Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark.

You want signals, calls and marches by mission of Burma. I'd have that over the other.
Do you have digital radio? I love absolute 80s at the moment, having a bit of a new wave thing.
You should load up on Peter Gabriel also, although I dunno what is best. I only have his greatest hits, listen to most of his stuff avec my brother.
Love heart also lately, get some heart.
Joe Jackson and Depeche Mode also
Talk talk and psychedelic furs have their moments.
Writing all this makes me realise how much I don't listen to albums anymore.

Funnily enough, I have never bought Black Flag's Damaged; it has been on my music list for years but I have never got round to it.
Keep the suggestions coming, people, I'm going to check them out and some will be put on THE list.

Billy Idol/Generation X. Heard him on something today and he's pure 80s gold, maybe more a greatest hits kinda thing though.

Shisen will be happy to learn that I bought OMD's Architecture and Morality album, today, along with a Curtis Mayfield album (which isn't 80s, but I've wanted a CM album for a while).

I dunno; once I buy a "Best of" album I don't usually buy individual records. I don't know why, as I'm all about the album-experience. I have very few "Best of" albums as a result.
