View Full Version : TNA moving to the Discovery Channel's Destination America
http://www.wrestlinginc.com/wi/news/2014/1116/584941/more-on-spike-tv-not-wanting-tna-impact-wrestling/
Dave Meltzer, who has been stating for months that Spike TV was not interested in renewing with TNA, reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that officials at Destination America believe that a deal with TNA was completed. As noted earlier, Destination is a channel in the Discovery Network that is available in 52% of the country. Meltzer noted that the number is actually high, because it counts all of the subscribers for a service like DirecTV, even though it is only available on the higher tier packages. The highest rated show in the history of Destination America has only done around 440,000 viewers.
Meltzer also added that with the new deal, ROH is almost definitely likely to have more weekly viewers on Sinclair than TNA on Destination America.

I think TNA had a chance to become a competitor around the time they signed angle, but they never evolved past WCW-lite.

Details of TNA's new TV deal are unknown right now but they will reportedly be able to have more programming than just Impact Wrestling on the new network.
Probably a good sign about the amount TNA might be getting although could also be another "ECW on TNN" case where most of the new costs is coming out of TNA's pockets instead.

I have no idea if I have that channel. Haven't noticed it if I do. Impact has been pretty decent as of late.

Impact has to do better rating than such Wednesday primetime shows as "Sinkholes: Swallowed Alive" "Out of Control Drivers 1&2" "Pig Bomb" and "The Hunt for Hogzilla"
Plus, Rebel has a rockin' ass.
This alone should be enough of a reason for people to check her/TNA out.

This doesn't sound like a great move for TNA, but I guess they need to stay alive. If only they could have been better earlier. Where was Rebel's ass when they needed her?

I'm actually more interested to see if Spike TV tries to give a new wrestling program a shot. ROH seems pretty locked down. Would it be possible for them to try a Dragon Gate USA/EVOLVE double? Perhaps they talk to Jeff Jarrett and try and get some sort of GFW sponsored thing in there?

Spike TV is done with wrestling. All the focus is towards Bellator now for them.

Funny that too, because the way that Tito Ortiz and Stephan Bonner is being built looks straight off of a pro wrestling show. Bonner even had a masked man in his corner that used to be friends with Tito. Ridiculous.

Also Destination America might be a blessing in disguise. With all the alien/ghost/monster shows they run at night their viewers are prob already coming from the target demographics for TNA.
What am I saying? Destination America LOLOL
