View Full Version : **POSSIBLE SPOILER** Possible Major return at Survivor Series?

Sting!
I'll believe it when I see it.
But let's speculate; how and in what guise would this actually happen?
There were rumours he was supposed to be the new GM but I can't see that working.
Maybe the authority will win and declare themselves in total control and that nobody can stop them. The lights go out and Sting drops down from the rafters and wipes out the Authority with his baseball bat.....except Triple H whom he simply just points the bat too as he scurries to the back? Thus building up a feud between Sting and Triple H all the way to WM where the winner gets complete control of the WWE?
Then again...

Didn't HBK do something similar for WM 25?
Anyway doesn't matter how he makes his entrance, I'm just wondering what we should expect and how it will tie into the storyline as I assume he will be connected to the main event.
If he is set to appear then it will almost certainly "close" the show.

Sting as the new GM when the Authority is firrrrrrrrrrrred?
Franchise
11-22-2014, 06:29 AM
I personally hope that the Authority storyline doesn't end on Sunday. I would so want it to be the Sting v Authority storyline up to WM31 like a throwback to the old WCW v NWO storyline.
If it was really to be the "end of the Authority" you would think Triple H himself would play some kind of a key role i.e. one of the competitors in the match itself.
Imagine Sting v Triple H to close out WM 31 and Sting winning and thus ending the Authority's reign of terror once and for all?
Survivor Series just isn't the setting for such a major storyline to reach its climax and Cena has had more than enough "moments" to last a lifetime.

I thought it was meant to be 5 on 5?
Triple H himself isn't involved in the match hence why I don't think it will "end" on Sunday. For it to end the main figurehead needs to be taken out i.e.Triple H much like how Daniel Bryan had to beat Triple H and then Orton and Batista to win the title.
Besides given Undertaker can no longer wrestle his way out of a wet paper bag without getting concussed, and the idea of Cena v Sting would just stink the whole place out, Triple H v Sting is the only credible option.

I don't think Cesaro is advertised to be in the match is he? I think the the idea was to confuse Cena on Raw, and for him to show his support to The Authority. They didn't show him on the graphic on Smackdown as being part of the team.
I could be wrong though.

Like I said for a storyline as major as this and let's be honest it probably is one of the "bigger" if not "biggest" WWE storylines in the past decade (alongside Rock v Cena and HBK v Undertaker), I just feel the right place for it to come to an end would be under the lights of Wrestle Mania where Sting is likely to wrestle his first and possibly only WWE match and beat Triple H, defeat the Authority in his "home state" and bring down the curtain not only on the storyline but his own glittering career.
That's what the Sting fan inside me wants, whether it plays it that way....I don't know.
In any case I hope to finally see him debut in the WWE on Sunday if the rumours are true.

Well the fact it's free shows how well the WWE Network is going lol.
I recall rumours suggesting he'd debut around this time so it makes sense. Of course the dream scenario for many years was Undertaker v Sting but without the streak it's a no-go area in my opinion. It just wouldn't have the hype or the aura and besides, Taker's fitness is questionable and arguably WM 30 was even beyond him.
People suggested Bray Wyatt v Sting but given the considerable age gap and possible fitness/physical ability gap that could well be a disaster waiting to happen.
Cena and his fruity pebbles wouldn't do it justice neither (dare I say it) would the Rock.
It needs to be a traditional good v evil match with Sting representing the good and Triple H the evil of the Authority. Think of the entrances; Triple H coming out to the game, some 300-esque entrance with armour et al. Then Sting taking it one step further with his creepy, psychological crow entrance.
Then again it might just be Sting and Grumpy Cat v Bo Dallas and Fandango.

Not Rowan? I can't imagine him turning face so quickly? Ryback would be too predictable. The seeds of doubt were already cast for the Big Show by Steph.
Ziggler would be a huge surprise but unlikely.
Cena heel turn.....the magnitude of that would simply overshadow Sting's debut so unlikely.
The problem is none of those on Team Authority are capable of laying out Cena unless of course Brock Lesnar was scheduled to appear at the end and "offer a helping hand". Brock Lesnar though not part of the Authority per se seems to be scripted as an "ally" of the Authority.
They wouldn't have Rusev and Harper join the Authority and win belts only for the group to be dismantled or dethroned so soon. I think it's all part of a plan to have the Authority/heels hold the belts for particular period.
I wouldn't be surprised if they were doing this along the lines of the old WCW v NWO feud as I alluded to before. Some will say why rehash an old storyline but the storyline is now in the distant past that the new generation can enjoy it without it feeling tedious and the older fans can "relive the moment".

Maybe, but Cena turning heel for the first time in post-thuganomics era would be pretty significant but really can't see it happening at Survivor Series if at all in the near future.
I'm intrigued to see how far WWE are going with Sting and whether he might wrestle more than just the one match. One article I read suggested a possible WWE title match but surely that would be ridiculous? I can't see him coping physically in a match with Lesnar. The only way Sting would be fighting for the title would be if Triple H were to be holding the belt but to have either of them hold the belt would damage the up and coming members of the roster, not to mention how Seth Rollins with his briefcase would factor into the equation.....(unless he won the belt from Lesnar and got beat down by Triple H in a match/forced to surrender the title....please no. Alternatively Rollins attempts to cash-in but is thwarted by Ambrose or even Reigns).

It seems nobody is keen on a Sting v The Authority storyline?
I just think if he is meant to have only one more match then the best person on the roster either full or part time to have the match with is Triple H.
WWE effed up the streak by losing to Lesnar. If they're going to have the Authority "defeated" it needs to be someone big, with a massive aura, who can (sort of) taken on Triple H (and the Authority) physically and psychologically.
Undertaker would have been best placed to do that had he not lost his streak and just generally not been in bad shape.
Cena has been thrashed one too many times and doesn't quite have that psychological edge to him. The Austin 3:16 era won't be returning any time soon, not in the ring any way.
This is the ideal situation. Imagine the Authority running scared for weeks and months of Sting. One by one each member getting taken out by a baseball bat lol to the point The Game just snaps and lays it all on the line once and for all. Not just about control of the WWE but his own legacy i.e. the fact he's beaten so many "potential hall of famers" as he put it in that vignette before WM 30 last year and that Sting is someone he wants to prove himself against.
Yes he may be 56 but I'm sure he can manage one or two matches and even a tag match etc along the way.......

Ah ok.
No I meant nobody else seems keen on the idea. I just think bringing him in and making him the GM now would just kill any potential major storyline, not him debuting isn't a big deal.
I just wonder if they timed his debut not just for the free wwe network period but also to allow fans time to reconnect/discover about Sting's past, the Monday night wars, his legendary feuds with the NWO etc and just well, build up the hype.
Assuming it's the Sting crow character they will bring in, then simply elevating him to GM status in his first five minutes doesn't do justice to a character that represented the "forces of good" in the whole WCW v NWO era and was very much (imo) the ultimate good guy/anti-hero.
Triple H has always been one of the best heels in the business, even in his DX days I couldn't imagine him as anything other than a heel, someone you love to hate, who gets under your skin. Cena as a story character couldn't deal with that, the whole Hustle Loyalty Respect crap doesn't strike fear into anyone.
The Authourity can only really be and should be defeated by someone/something that plays them at their own game (no pun intended), outwits them pschologically etc i.e. someone no amount of "surprise matches", fake security guards, banning from the stadium can have no effect.
It's like a mugger trying to threaten Batman lol the whole "swear to me" deal.
Sorry just excited about Sting debuting.....imagine if he doesn't.
But yeah I've said it over and over again, that is the ideal and imo ONLY storyline they can have with Sting to do justice not only to his debut but his character, the Authourity storyline and in a sense the company as a whole which has been suffering in terms of ratings, a network which hasn't set the fans imaginations alight, heck WM31 isn't even sold out yet.

Either way I see a Team Cena victory as a disaster. If they were going to end the Authority storyline it should have ended back at WM 30 when Daniel Bryan won the title then that should have been the end of it. At the hands of John Cena when he's been given so many beat downs by Brock Lesnar? Nope doesn't do the storyline justice.
Just have Team Cena get beaten be it through heel turns etc, have Cena pounced upon by the Authority at the end, them celebrating etc then unleash the scorpion....

Then all that's left is Triple H and his b****. Triple H trembles in fear, fear we've never seen before, rest of the Authourtiy scrambles together to the back. Leaves Sting and Cena alone in the ring, Sting doesn't say a word or anything just Wooooos everywhere, the whole arena goes woooooo.
I hope to God this happens tomorrow. What a night it would be for wrestling in general.
I would cream my pants at Hunter shaking in his boots to Sting. my god.

If you bring in Sting then you have to bring in Flair. Who wouldn't wanna see Sting vs Flair at WM31? Has that match ever even happened before? Once in a LIFETIME!

And if he doesn't debut.......well we can't complain I suppose with the PPV being "free".
I just don't want a Team Cena win as it would destroy any hopes of the potential storyline I secretly wish for i.e. Sting v The Authority.

story wise it would be better if teem cena losses maby swagger will end up replasing one of them tonight and get fake fired.

As I keep saying if they wanted to end it already they should have done when Bryan won at WM30 i.e. a sort of "we're so sure that you're not best for business that if you do win, we'll quit". Daniel Bryan would have been the perfect face to end the authority as the ultimate underdog figure. Perhaps he was meant to at some stage but then his injuries played in....it happens.
I'm against Cena having an integral role in this for the sole purpose that in the beginning he was never meant to be part of the storyline and perhaps only got pushed into it due to Bryan's untimely absence. Cena is a big star I'll give him that and perhaps up there with the biggest of all time given the number of PPVs he's headlined, WMs, title wins, the face of the company etc. But what more or less will it do for his character to "end the authority"?
Didn't he already end "People Power"? And that was at an insignificant PPV and just as I was getting to enjoy that storyline...was quite funny Laurinitas coming out every with his boring monotone voice.
LOL best moment was when he unveiled the WWE 2K12 cover with his face on it. I'd have bought it lol!
CM Punk would have been another ideal figure to fight the Authority being a man of anarchy and never living by the rules. He was a PG-era Austin minus the bear and swearing.
Cena is just "too face" and too bland a personality to deal with it. No amount of faux motivational speaking convinces me of his heroics.

As someone who grew up on WCW, I've been waiting for Sting to show up at a WWE event for years. Now it's finally going to happen on a night when I probably won't be able to watch the event live.
Surely he's not wrestling though. I'd hope they would at least build that up ahead of time.
I'm down for Sting vs. HHH/The Authority.
I'd be happy for him to appear as a surprise replacement for one of the Cena guys.
I wouldn't be so keen on him coming in to be a GM.
I'd be happy with Team Authority to win by nefarious means only for Sting to appear on the ramp, point his bat at The Authority, signalling that he's coming for them.
However, I can't see Team Authority winning/Team Cena being fired as I can't see a way for those guys to come back with The Authority still in control.
They could do something with Cena overcoming the odds to win the match only to be beat down by The Authority after the match. Lights go out, come back, Mercury & Noble are out cold. Lights go out again, come back on and Kane is out. Same for Seth, until HHH is left. Then you have the lights go out one last time, strobe light hits, house lights come up fully and Sting is on the stage.

Obviously it would be kayfabe "fired" as such so they could well be "rehired" as Authority cronies.
One possible scenario is they turn on Cena or refuse to be tagged in and one by one walk off much to the amusement of the Authority?
Oh, it'd be kayfabe fired!? I hadn't realised. I thought they'd actually fire those guys for losing a scripted match.
Jesus.
I guess those scenarios work but would they turn all those guys in one go?
I guess they could have one guy turn to join The Authority and cost Team Cena the match and their jobs. Then have someone (Vince?) come out and install Sting in a GM role, he could then give the other guys their jobs back. Again, I do t like/want Sting in a GM role.

XL, just out of interest, can I ask why you wouldn't like him in a GM role?
It almost removes the mystery that they could create around the Sting character.
I'm leaning towards them going back to the roots of the original "Crow" Sting; stalking The Authority from the rafters, a slow build to a match with HHH. Tying him up as a "suit" takes away that aspect of the character, and this point I'm pretty tired of there being an onscreen authority figure all of the time, opening every show.
Also, I've seen him do it in TNA.

Yeah, that's a fair call.
But I guess that's why I'm accepting of it, because TNA took away the mystique of Sting. Having in a suit in MEM took away everything he built in WCW. I guess though, on the bright side, WWE has the power to make him back in to what he was if they choose to book him correctly.

Ease him in, let him fight Triple H for "control" of WWE. There's his one match, then you can tease his second match down the line when his job is threatened or some stipulation of that sort.
Well, I'd say I was kinda close there.

Don't forget that we're in the minority. The vast majority of WWE fans/casuals don't watch or even know about TNA. They won't have seen suit wearing Steve Borden or his run as GM or Joker Sting. This is an opportunity to present Sting as he was at his peak; The Crow in the shadows fighting injustice. WWE did a fantastic job starting that tonight.
And TNA is a million times of suckitude....your point?
TNA is actually pretty good right now. They actually have interesting, coherent storylines outside of the main event scene - something WWE had lacked for a long time. I'm infinitely more interested in seeing stars groomed and personalities fleshed out in the middle of the card than watching the same few guys doing the same few things. Anyhow, that's beside the point.
The point being that *I* have seen Sting in a GM role before and it wasn't great. I'd sooner he remain mysterious than over-exposed.
