* SmackDown kicks off with Big Show on MizTV but Daniel Bryan interrupts to a big pop. Bryan is the General Manager tonight and is putting Luke Harper and Rusev in matches.


1 - Rusev retains his United States Title in a 20-man battle royal with the rest of the roster. Rusev was forced to do the battle royal for not saying the Pledge of Allegiance on RAW.


2 - Nikki Bella defeated Emma. Nikki cut a promo after the match. AJ Lee came out after and attacked Nikki and Brie Bella.


3 - Ryback defeated Seth Rollins by disqualification when Kane interfered. Kane beat on Ryback with a chair.


4- Big E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods debuted as A New Day and defeated Curtis Axel, Heath Slater and Titus O'Neil.

* Backstage segment with Daniel Bryan. He announces Kane vs. Ryback in a Chairs Match for TLC.


5 - Dolph Ziggler vs. Luke Harper is next with the Intercontinental Title on the line. Ziggler ended up winning by count out but Harper retains. Harper swung the title belt at Ziggler after the match but Ziggler hit a Zig Zag and celebrated to end SmackDown.

Divas Champion Nikki Bella (w/Brie Bella) defeated Emma. Nikki won and talked about AJ Lee after the match. AJ came out and hit Brie. Brie did nothing and said nothing the whole match or interview. They said nothing about her 30-day run as Nikki's personal assistant being up.

Going to laugh if another report ends up being true that what Nikki said was basically a face promo or hinting at a face turn occurring.

I don't get the vignettes for this stable other than "Hey, this has mild gospel undertones with everyone being black and Big E talking like a preacher."

What are they hoping the "Universe" takes away from this? Just feel that vignettes should answer more questions than raise them and/or really make me want to tune in for a debut.

I watched this today, The New Day were alright I guess. Seem like bland babyfaces, but they did pull off some okay team moves. Their finisher isn't going to impress people at all, it's a big ending with Xavier Woods jumping off the top rope to push the opponent down as Big E drops them.

I actually really enjoyed The New Day. I haven't been pumped for them, but they did their best to make their three-man offense work. Big E and Xavier Woods as a tag team is something I'd like to see. Their Bigger Ending finish was really good. It seems like they are going to move into a program with Gold & Stardust, which makes me wonder if they will get someone to join them. Weirdly enough, I'd be down for a heel R-Truth in the role. Maybe he feels abandoned by his old friends, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston?

I think it's meant to be taken as being a DDT by the audience, but the way Woods does is it just safer.

The New Day was largely uninteresting, is this really the best that creative can come up with for these guys in the 4-5 months since they actually formed?

I dunno -- I'm usually unmoved by Kofi Kingston and Big E, but I thought they were on-point here. I feel like they are working their asses off to make it work. I do enjoy Xavier Woods usually though. I think their visual presentation is odd, but it does make them stand out. I don't feel that anyone will "break out" because of this, but stranger things have happened.
