Happy New Year TPDub! Leading up to the Royal Rumble I'd like to maybe throw out a few Rumble related POO's, but since this is the first day of 2015 and this is one of the last major Pick Only One subjects to be covered, thought we may as well start off the new year with this gem.
Favourite moment. It could be a anything at all. A match, a promo, a celebration, an incident, anything at all.
The rules are simple, in case the name doesn't spell it out, no runners-up, no honorable mentions, no "I couldn't choose between" or no joint-firsts. This is the thread where you suck it up and pick only one answer.
Here's mine:

Hard to believe this was almost 11 years ago! There's been a lot of absolutely fantastic moments since this, and with both guys being dead now, this moment seems pretty outdated. But as a long-time fan of both guys, with Benoit still remaining one of my all-time top three favourites, anyone that lived through this moment recognized what it meant to the wrestling world.
Hard to argue with that one for me. I remember being on the edge of my seat shouting "TAP!!" when Benoit had HHH in the Crossface, when he did I jumped up to my feet and punched the air - in front of a room full of other people. Can't remember ever having an exhilarating moment like that before or since.
Sad that the moment has been sullied by Benoit's actions and consequently buried.

Yeah same! I don't think I've ever been more emotionally invested in a wrestling match than that one!

My fav moment was Hogan vs The Rock at WM 18. BTW, I was there. Not sure if I've ever mentioned that before.

One a bit out of left field from me. The ending to HBK/Flair at Mania.
I thought the story was told really well, and for me, these are the two best of all time in the ring together, both approaching the end. All the other stuff that we know fed into it as well. HBK turning his life around was part of it, but what really got me was how it was obvious that Flair just couldn't stop wrestling. It was all he ever did and all he ever was (in his mind). The tears and emotion at the end of the match all seemed so real and it really pulled you in. I know he wrestled after, but this was his last big time match on the big stage and I hope it is remembered that way. Was a fantastic end to an amazing career.

Goldberg winning his first WHC from Hogan. On Nitro.
At that time, we didn't get WW(F) in India, since the broadcaster STAR Sports ended it's deal. As a result, i'd discovered WCW, and immediately became a mark for Sting, and Goldberg. I wasn't a complete smark yet, and was completely sold on Goldberg's story. A Herculean man who had the longest winning streak. The aura, the entrance, the spear, the tattoo, the jackhammer, everything was just so, 'cool'.
Anyway, flash forward a few weeks, and i was sent to bed early on account of some little tiff with the folks. Nitro aired on Fridays for us from 09:00pm, and i deftly snuck out of my room at 11:00pm, switched on the telly at low volume, and was fully immersed in the show. And when Goldberg won, i was elated. I was jumping around like the energizer bunny. My elation woke up my parents, and my dad joined in on the celebrations. Any bad blood between us, however minor it was, was forgotten.
Benoit/Guerrero for me too
Austin taking out the Ministry especially loved that it had been building the whole night with people little by little appealing to Austins conscience till he finally decided to help. The whole thing played out like a mini Boss fight Taker sending his mooks to get plowed over and when it was just taker and Austin Taker slipped out of the ring (thanks to Mideon)and up the entryway where he angrily watched his henchman get dispatched before angrily leaving I ATE IT UP.
The "It Never Happened" title match between Jericho and Triple H.
The moment that had me angrily throwing a chair and using every variation of "fuck Triple H" I could think of.
ECW joining the invasion. after that it all went downhill.....
I disagree about it all being downhill after that, because my favorite moment is:

Edge cashing in MITB at New Years Revolution. I remember being crazy with happiness when that shit went down.

Hell yes! I remember because that was the first ever MITB cash-in that we were still all pretty new to the concept, so wasn't completely sure it'd go down the way it did. Was super excited as well to see Edge win. Was gutted he dropped the title three weeks later though. :(

I was going to say this too. I think I actually cried watching it. And I was 24.

Edge cashing in his Money In the Bank on John Cena. Really didn't expect the WWE to use Money In The Bank like that. I actually missed it live, and was so totally shocked to find out the next night on Raw that Edge shocked the World.

This is a perfect example. A moment that was perfect. It was reversed two weeks later but the moment remains.
