Regarding AJ's merchandise claims, she was a strong merchandise seller when she was being pushed but the formula WWE uses for merchandise sales with most of the roster is the same with a few top stars getting higher percentages. None of the Divas sell anywhere close to the levels that top WWE Superstars are at.

As far as Divas being in the highest-rated segments on WWE TV, the Diva segments were rarely above average when weekly segment breakdowns were available. However, AJ was working main event segments with top stars such as Daniel Bryan and CM Punk, and those segments always did well.

Regarding pay, while there are exceptions, it is a general rule in WWE that the Divas on the main roster are paid significantly less than the men. Apparently that is not the case in NXT as there's a general rule that the Divas there make more than the men because so many of the men came from indie backgrounds and are willing to take low pay just to be a part of WWE. Most of the women hired come from modeling or athletic backgrounds and there's also the idea that the women need to earn at a certain level to maintain the kind of look WWE wants.

A source close to the situation with AJ said she did it completely on her own and the company was completely blind-sided by it. Stephanie was said to be absolutely furious at being made to look bad by one of their employees and at being shown up on Twitter. A lot of potential to get a major storyline going for WrestleMania however. If Steph's hurt is just a work, or she's willing to put it the side for the sake of business. Just have Stephanie McMahon come out and talk about an "unnamed Diva," who has taken it upon herself to try and embarrass the WWE. Steph says that this woman has been notified via the proper channels that she has been suspended until further notice. Steph then points out "This isn't the patriarchy suspending you...this is a woman more powerful than you doing it."

The company waits for the swell of "AJ Lee!" chants to start whenever Divas are wrestling, or Stephanie is on the screen. AJ Lee keeps letting Steph know via Twitter how she is deaf to what wrestling fans want. Hopefully some news outlets pick it up, and then Stephanie cracks and says she is offering an invitation to AJ Lee to apologise at WrestleMania -- the largest stage the WWE has -- to apologize to her publicly; or else she will never get the opportunity to compete for the Divas Championship again.

You're right. Record-selling could refer to AJ's merchandise being the best selling female merchandise in WWE history. Now, is it? Good question -- I'd like to know the answer to that. Or is it a record with whatever company produces, say, the latest line of Diva toys. Didn't they swap from Jakks-Pacific to Mattel? Maybe the AJ Lee figures sell more than the Trish Stratus figures under this deal?

She does need to clarify, and you're right, it does open up a very interesting discussion about what the females do make. Let's be honest -- AJ Lee shouldn't be paid as much as John Cena.
