American Horror Story: Hotel

I was pretty confident season five would have to do with chemical warfare but a haunted hotel (like The Shining) would be very cool to.

Sadly, it's not being shoot in Louisiana. But, preproduction has begun on the AHS: Coven spinoff called Scream Queens.

She's actually good so I'll be interested in seeing what she's got. I read a theory that with all the top hats appearing in the freak show season that the next season would be about military experiments since Project Top Hat was about that. One of the dudes said next season would in modern times so maybe the "hotel" will look more modern instead of looking like an old haunted hotel.

I watched the live stream of the cast at PaleyFest last night.

Jessica Lange confirmed she is gone. Matt Bomer will join the show as a lead and broadway star Cheyenne Jackson will join the show (please no musical numbers, please no musical numbers).

Wes Bentley joins the cast (he played Mordrake last season) as a series regular.

I wonder if they are going w/ a primarily all-new cast this year? That would be cool. Bring back Kathy Bates for sure though.

Lots of info about the new season released today:

http://www.ew.com/sites/default/files/styles/tout_image_gallery_612/public/i/2015/08/25/ahs-1379-the-countess.jpg?itok=KkeKniKn

The Countess (Lady Gaga)
The owner of the Hotel Cortez, The Countess is a glamorous but deadly creature who sustains on a healthy diet of sex and blood — she kills with her very sharp chainmail glove. co-creator Ryan Murphy tells EW. “It’s not vampires.” He adds, “It’s really a form of hemophilia in a way. There’s no capes and fangs.” Lady Gaga’s character, The Countess, is afflicted with this virus as are her lovers, Donovan (Matt Bomer) and Tristan (Finn Wittrock), which causes the infected to crave human blood.

http://www.ew.com/sites/default/files/1440538910/AHS-1379-Gaga-001.jpg
Donovan (Matt Bomer)
Gaga’s lover of 20 years finds himself rebuffed when she meets similarly handsome male model Tristan. Says Bomer, “He’s very interested in hunkering down and having her to himself, and that doesn’t go over so well with her limitless hunger.”

http://www.ew.com/sites/default/files/i/2015/08/25/bentley-001.jpg
John Lowe (Wes Bentley)
This LAPD detective moves into the Cortez in order to investigate a series of murders perpetrated by the Ten Commandments Killer, who arranges vicitms according to the biblical dictates. His family, including pediatrician wife Alex (Chloe Sevigny), get sucked into the Cortez’ darkness. “He has a family he loves very much but that is sort of falling apart,” says Bentley. “He struggles with a lot of things. It’s clear most of what John struggles with is control.”

http://www.ew.com/sites/default/files/1440538910/AHS-1379-Bassett-001.jpg
Ramona Royale (Angela Bassett)
A film star who used to have a romantic relationship with The Countess, Ramona teams up with Donovan to take revenge on The Countess. Says Bassett, “They are powerful women at opposite sides and at odds with one another, each believing that they’re right.”

http://www.ew.com/sites/default/files/1440538910/AHS-1379-Bassett-002.jpg
Claudia (Naomi Campbell)
Campbell plays a Vogue editor who decides to stay at the Cortez and ends up regretting it after crossing The Countess.

http://www.ew.com/sites/default/files/1440538910/Bates-001.jpg
Iris (Kathy Bates)
Donovan’s mother works as the hotel desk clerk so she can see her son on a daily basis, even though he deplores her. Says Bates, “Iris is overprotective with a capital O, especially now since her son is ill. She wants to be there every day to make sure he’s all right, and she’s very controlling that way.”

http://www.ew.com/sites/default/files/1440538910/AHS-1379-Wittrock-001.jpg
Tristan (Finn Wittrock)
This male model catches the eye of The Countess at a fashion show at the Cortez. “He’s got an addictive personality,” says Wittrock. “I think he’s hypersexual also. It makes him a prime candidate for the Countess’ charms and he is very willingly seduced and then turned by her.”

http://www.ew.com/sites/default/files/1440538910/AHS-1379-HOTEL-001.jpg
James March (Evan Peters)
Like other seasons, AHS: Hotel’s time-frame bounces around, including flashbacks to the murderous Mr. March. “He’s the builder and owner of the hotel from the 1930s, and he is unique,” says Peters. “He’s designed a hotel to cater to his specific needs, which tend toward the dark evil.” The beautiful art-deco hotel is, in actuality, a labyrinthine structure built to hide March’s murderous activities (think dead ends, secret rooms, endless shafts).

http://www.ew.com/sites/default/files/1440538910/Greenfield-001.jpg
Gabriel (Max Greenfield)
The New Girl star plays an addict who checks into the Cortez and has an unforgettable experience. “He’s a Hollywood junkie,” says Greenfield.

http://www.ew.com/sites/default/files/1440538910/Paulson-001.jpg
Hypodermic Sally (Sarah Paulson)
Another junkie who lives at the Cortez, Sally is one of the more tragic figures found in the halls of the hotel. "She's the baddest bad girl of them all", teases Co-Creator Ryan Murphy.

http://www.ew.com/sites/default/files/styles/tout_image_612x380/public/1440538910/AHS-1379-Jackson-001.jpg?itok=WYP3fJfY
Marcy (Christine Estabrook)
The annoying realtor who sold the Harmons family their haunted home, appears in Hotel! Naturally, she’s the real estate agent for the similarly horrific Hotel Cortez. In the image above from AHS: Hotel, she shows the property to fashion designer Will Drake (Cheyenne Jackson) and his son. “We do go to the Murder House for one episode,” teases co-creator Ryan Murphy of season 1’s ghost-filled abode.

Lily Rabe will play real life serial killer Aileen Wuornos in the two-part Halloween episode.

In addition to the Ten Commandments Killer the season will also feature a creature called The Addiction Demon, a faceless entity who murders people with a drillbit dildo, and can be seen below in the teaser for the season.

She is on some other tv show I read. However, the creator of the show said this season will see past characters check-in as guests at the hotel. Would be really cool if her 'Angel of Death' character showed up. I feel like Jessica Lange will be a surprise guest at the hotel too, maybe as her character from the first season that was raising the Anti-Christ at the end?

Jura

Since it says the show will be bouncing around through time periods I'm thinking the younger version of her would be more fitting because it was at a hotel where she murdered the hot maid.

PTC Blasts 'American Horror Story: Hotel' as "Most Vile" Content Ever

The Parents Television Council isn't happy with Ryan Murphy. The conservative watchdog group has blasted FX's American Horror Story: Hotel and also taken issue with Fox's Scream Queens — both produced by Murphy and Brad Falchuk.

The group, led by president Tim Winter, singled out the season premiere of Hotel for featuring what he called an "unbelievably explicit combination of sex and violence." The episode featured a bloody foursome involving Lady Gaga and Matt Bomer. The group-sex encounter, directed by Murphy, marked quite the acting debut for the pop star, who plays The Countess, the glamorous, bloodthirsty owner of the eponymous Hotel Cortez. Not to be outdone, the season opener also featured a graphic rape scene involving Max Greenfield in which his character was raped with a spiked sex toy. "This is the most vile and shocking content I've ever seen on TV. Ever," Winter wrote in an email to subscribers calling for an advertiser boycott the series. "Most Americans have no idea this is primetime fare on advertiser-supported basic cable. And everyone is paying for it as part of their program bundle." The group urged sponsors — singling out Subway — to spend their ad dollars in a more responsible fashion. Not to be outdone, the PTC also took issue with Murphy and Falchuk's Fox horror comedy anthology Scream Queens — which it noted is rated appropriate for 14-year-olds and airs at 7 p.m. in the Central and Mountain time zones. "In spite of this, the program features graphic decapitations and discussions of necrophilia in the family hour … all sponsored by McDonalds," the group wrote.

And isn't the maid the one who played Pepper's sister? Also, I wonder why John was invited. Maybe he's the 10 commandments killer and doesn't even know it? Or maybe he's a candidate for a future serial killer.

Yeah, the maid was Pepper's sister. I was thinking the same thing. At first I thought maybe his wife would turn out to be the killer but I'm thinking it's definitely John now.

Finale is tonight.

I've enjoyed this season for the most part (I liked it better than Freak Show and Coven). Kind of hoping next year they don't have 800 plots going on though. The first season seems like the best written one/one with the right number of plots even though I really like the second season the best.

slik's prediction for next season's theme:

American Horror Story: Cabin

I think there has been a few hints - from a Yogi The Bear reference to Campfire Gold coffee cans. I could see a season set in the 1980s full of Friday the 13th/Evil Dead references. I think American Horror Story: Dollhouse would be a cool season with a collector of haunted dolls (voiced by the show's cast) who do evil things but don't see them doing that. I'm also hoping for American Horror Story: CULT still.

Also hoping Gaga won't be back. She isn't really good or bad, just kind of there most of the time. She's good at being Lady Gaga but I don't need to see her do that two seasons in a row.
