I can only hope he goes over at Mania and really "cements himself" as a credible threat to the world title scenario. What I mean by that is when/if he goes over, what more is there for him to do at that level? He should move on to the "big picture" and begin feuding with the "big dogs".

Seriously, he seems more of a legit threat to Lesnar than Reigns.

I really feel like that feud was just another example of how inflexible WWE is. Because Jack Swagger was only turned to be fodder for Rusev. But a funny thing happened: He got over as a face. Instead of rolling with that and using the feud to elevate both men (setting up some good things for Swagger's future as well as for Rusev), nope. Rusev wins, lol! Fuck you for caring about this loser, we sure didn't!

I feel like Swagger should have been the one to end the "Undefeated" Streak on his way to an Intercontinental Title run. Rusev is a dominating enough force as a heel that he could have taken the loss without much damage to him. Then I'd have him go over Cena at Mania to set up a proper feud with Reigns, where he shocks the world by beating him, with some chicanery (maybe the debut of a "Russian Sympathizer").

Swagger has a solid Intercontinental Title run, trading the belt once with Harper, then feuding with Barrett before finally losing the belt to him. Rusev comes out with Lana and his Sympathizer, and they boast about how no one can stop the Rusev crush. "We The People" blasts over the PA system, and you have a license to print money.

Rusev made me a fan at Fast Lane. I hope I do not lose interest. Him losing to Cena at WrestleMania would not be "jobbing out." The feud with Swagger should have been used to make Swagger a bigger deal. Even if Swagger only ended up getting the rub at the Royal Rumble or something. Zeb Colter has not yet had his revenge.

The next RAW we find out Lana will be out for such and such time due to a injury and Rusev just wrecks havoc on everyone and everything. Hes just filled with rage for the 2 months Lana is gone. He could interrupt a New Day match and just destroy them. New Day retaliates the new RAW. Then Rusev starts mauling them backstage on a weekly basis along with anyone else who gets in his way.
This sets up Lana's return and she channels Rusev's new anger into a title chase. This can also get him away from the foreigner only gimmick.

shit, the way he stretched Cena @ WWE Fastlane was pretty brutal to watch. Cena is taking a pretty big beating from Rusev/Lesnar these past few years.

Ha, Fignuts. Pretty simple really:

* Rusev is pissed about finally being pinned. Instead of going after John Cena again, his targets are guys lower on the food-chain. So he looks like a pissed-off monster, but he's also targeting smaller fish, so there's a bit of a coward's side to it too.

* Rusev brutalizes Jimmy Uso. I go with Jimmy, because he's linked to Naomi on the air. Rusev takes out Jimmy and gives him an injury. I originally went with leg, because this is very similar to one of my favorite angles -- Johnny Jeter vs. Matt Cappotelli -- and they worked a leg injury (a real one, I think). But I got with Jimmy because he's linked with Naomi. They can do stuff behind the scenes with Naomi worried about Jimmy and talking about how he can't provide for their budding family with his injury.

* Jey cuts promos about how he didn't protect his brother, so now he's going to make Rusev pay. You mess with one Uss, you mess with the other. Jey becomes a man possessed, and attacks Rusev after a squash match against someone. He knocks Rusev out of the ring and he hits a dive over the top onto him as Lana is freaking out.

* Jimmy tries to talk Jey out of the match. "This is a singles match against Rusev of all people, man. You're a tag guy. You're not ready for this." Naomi tells Jimmy to let his brother be his own man, and they have a bit of an argument, but Jey tells Naomi that he appreciates her standing up for him, but Jimmy is just trying to protect him as the older Uss. He gets that. Jimmy's always been like that. He tries to protect Naomi, he tries to protect Jey, but it's time for Jimmy to protect himself. That's why he needs to face Rusev and he needs Jimmy to not get involved.

* Rusev vs. Jey Uso is signed for the next PPV. Rusev and Lana cut promos about how Jey Uso is an impressive tag team guy, but Rusev will make what he did to Jimmy Uso look like a walk in the park. Rusev says "Jey...I will end your career." Jey then comes through the crowd and jumps from the top rope onto Rusev and again beats him up a little bit.

* During the match between the two, the announcers make sure to point out that Jey Uso was the first Uso to enter a Royal Rumble Match, and also the first Uso to pin Roman Reigns. They do whatever spots they can to stand out beyond a pedestrian outing. Maybe something where Lana gets on the apron and Jey flies over her and hits a dive onto Rusev on the outside? Jey basically looks to guys like Jeff Hardy and Kofi Kingston when he's pissed off and matters for inspiration on how to work with Rusev.

* The company may not want to have Rusev drop another loss, and it really doesn't matter if he does win this cleanly. But I would actually consider putting Jey over here if people are eating up his act. No one would really pick Jey to win this match, so the moment where he goes up top and hits not one...not two...but three Splashes on Rusev before making the cover would be a pretty big moment.

* Jey celebrates in the ring, and Jimmy makes his way out, hobbling on one leg. He and Jey do some dancing together...then Jimmy stops selling the leg and kicks his brother right in the jaw. He starts a beat-down on his baby brother and asks things like "You think you can do this without me, huh? You think you're the bigger star, Uss? You gonna shine tonight, Uss?"

* Naomi runs down, looking as upset as she can act. She screams at Jimmy to stop. "Your business with me is at home! This is my work!" Jimmy keeps the beat-down going as officials come in to break it up.

* Jimmy Uso comes out on RAW and crowns himself "Jimmy Starr" or something like that. There was already a guy named that in entertainment though, so maybe he uses the Samoan word for "star," which a (possibly incorrect) Google search tells me is "Fetu," which sounds a lot like his real surname. Jimmy basically talks about his ambition, and how there is no way he is going to let Jey be a bigger name than him. Jey attacks and the two do a pull apart.

* Jey and Naomi do separate sit-down interviews where they talk about how there has always been a darkness in Jimmy, and he has worked hard to get it under control. Jey says he loves Jimmy, but as a matter of personal pride, he needs to beat his brother to teach him a lesson.

* Jey possibly assumes his own identity in all of this too. He could just drop the "Uso" part of his name, or he could pick up "Fatu?" Maybe he could go something more worked like "Jey Slayer?" Whatever.

* The two brothers make a run out of being singles stars whilst I forget I was talking about Rusev.

I remember watching Rusev's debut match in NXT vs. Dolph Ziggler and thinking "this dude is impressive. He could be something."

Then he kind of floundered around a bit in NXT and the fans there didn't like him because he didn't come from some beloved indy rep. Meanwhile I was sitting there thinking "You NXT fans eat everything up, but s**t all over this dude who I can actually picture becoming something...."

Vladimir Kozlov was a Russian wrestler but at a time where Russia wasn't really on the news a lot. It was a time of somewhat peace between Russia and the rest of the world. Kozlov's gimmick was "hey remember when the USSR was still around." That can work when Nicolai Volkoff comes out every once and while to sing the Soviet National Anthem, but not as a long-term gimmick.

Now Rusev is there with Russia on the news. Russia is seen as a true superpower again in the world. I sort of thought the Russian economy being in flux would hurt Rusev, but it seems to be working well for him at the moment.
