Apparently the "premiere" screening of the first two episodes was a huge success. The headline for Forbes' review calls it "one of Marvel's greatest achievements." Pretty much everything I'm reading says something similar.
I was excited before. Now I'm counting days.

But, yeah, seen the first episode and I thought it was quite promising. It seems a lot darker than Agents of Shield, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe in general, but I don't think that is a bad thing; maybe more appealing to older viewers.

That oner at the end of Eps 2; holy fuck.
Allusions to its connections to the MCU would place this Phase 2 canon wise. The battle of New York really trickled down. Great to see the nitty gritty effects of that. Adds weight.

Fight scenes in this are so incredible and realistic. Well, as realistic as one guy taking out 5 guys can be. Murdoch gets thrashed. Nice to see a superhero that doesn't just wreck shop at will. Into every character.

The fight scene at the end of episode 2 is one of the most impressive oners ive ever seen and that isn't hyperbole. It also might be the most super heroic thing i have ever seen. So human.
This is pretty easily the best of the super hero shows. It isnt even close.

Was not expecting Kingpin to be like this and it is magnificent. Thought he would just be a typical dominant big boss type and he isn't like that at all. He's an anxietal emotional wreck.
and Fignuts, I'm with you on the fight scene at the end of episode 2. Boss as fuck. The coolest thing about the fight scenes is that everybody poses a threat. Murdock is always like one punch away from getting knocked out.

Yeah five episodes in and loving how Kingpin is portrayed so far. Netflix are such a powerhouse when it comes to TV shows now. Absolute quality in most things they do.

Nope. They mention the avengers in a couple passing comments, but it is not tied to any of the stories at all.
There are lots of little nods to daredevil lore, but you won't miss any key story stuff from it.

Think of this as the Iron Man 1 of the Marvel Street Universe. There is a lot of world building this show is doing in order to have the other street level shows connect to the main universe. If they keep this up with the other 3, I will be very happy when it all comes together.

"Marked out" at the final 10-15 mins. Obviously difficult to compare to all other MCU projects due to the shift in tone, but it may well be the best thing they've put out so far.

Would make sense, as they'll want to have as many heroes as possible for that movie. Not to mention, the street level heroes who work outside of the government would have to be the reason for the registration act, one would imagine.

Only part I didn't care for
The whole opera song over all the criminals getting caught was a pretty cliched and made me cringe a little bit, but it was still kind of cool and didn't ruin anything at all.

Damn. Posted a big response to that on my phone but my Internet cut out.
In short, dronepool's statement isn't all that ridiculous. Other than the scale between the two, there's not too much a difference in quality, especially since Dark Knight Rises is a bit of a mess and drags the trilogy down as a whole, and Nolan is a bit shit at fight scenes, which DD excelled at.
But then I prefer a handful of Marvel's films over even Batman Begins and Dark Knight. I also genuinely enjoy Adam West era Batman over anything else DC has ever done so whatever.

Dark Knight Rises was meh, not bad- but not all great.
All 13 hours or so were good or great.
The fight scenes were better
The cinematography was great
The story was great
The build up was great
It's on the same level as Batman Begins/TDK
It's a pretty solid series. I am trying to enjoy it for what it is and not compare it to other superhero works.
@dronepool should've compared it to "The Flash"...jk...jk
You know what? I take it back, dronepool. I saw a few more episodes and have concluded that this show is definitely comparable to The Dark Knight series.
I have been amazed by the character ever since I picked up "Daredevil and the Marvel Knights" when I was younger. I am so happy with what they have done.

Wow what a rush. Just finished the last episode. Took me two three days. Absolutely loved it. Had a huge smile on my face during the last episode when "Daredevil" finally appeared. Everyone was played brilliantly. I loved all the hints and references to the MCU and the comics, especially when they were referring to that Greek girl Matt was dating in high school. :y:
I'm excited to see where they go next with these Marvel Knights-based series, and I can't wait to get another Daredevil season. Will be awesome to see if/how all of these series (Daredevil, Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D) and any others, will tie into the main MCU, and if they'll all be involved for Civil War/Infinity War.

Yeah Fisk was awesome. I was really intrigued by his character and how awkward he was around Vanessa, but yet at the same time there was an unpredictability about him waiting to snap any second.
Loved when he went crazy and decapitated the Russian guy with his car door. But also loved the Russian guy fighting back briefly.

Finally finished the series, and absolutely loved it. There were a few" Come on, this is ridiculous" moments but overall it was great.
Finished Episode 9. I particularly enjoy the sound design in the series. Definitely needs headphones or a fantastic home-theatre system to do it justice.

The misses and I binge watched this. Absolutely excellent. Loved the entire cast, particularly Urich , Fisk and of course our title character.
Happy about season 2 getting green lit. Not familiar at all with his rogues but how they top this is beyond me.
Also, I like that it was only 13 episodes. While I love Arrow, enduring 20+ episodes is at times a draining task. Daredevil felt like it flew by.

I've absolutely loved it so far. I will be watching episode #12 tonight, but everything about this series has almost been perfect in my opinion.
I'm not a comic book nerd and so I had never heard of 'Daredevil' up until a few weeks ago. This series is a real breath of fresh air.

Deal also includes her Claire Temple character being bounced around any other future Marvel Netflix shows. So chances are you'll probably see her in AKA Jessica Jones and whatever else Marvel got planned.

I think part of the draw for me initially was the fact that before this we had the Incredible hulk Daredevil in the 80's which sucked and we had Ben Affleck who somehow managed to make the character suck even more and then this show comes along. It has the grit and the heart that should have been in the movie, it has a great cast of a characters and a great villian portrayed by a great actor add some easter eggs for longtime fans a hero that actually gets his ass kicked when fighting "mobs", a few hell yeah moments and you end up with a show that got the attention of comic fans who were Daredevil fans. Will season 2 be as good? Hope so but I have my doubts BUT as long as they can maintain the momentum of season 1 as it builds to the season 2 finale I can live with it

Honestly she fits the look. Yeah I know Elecktra is supposed to be Greek but looking at her in the comics, she always looked more Asian to me.
She's dark-haired and tanned, looks Greek enough.

Well in most incarnations he was a soldier of some sort.
Indeed, Bernthal's too young for a Vietnam or Desert Storm veteran so that leaves Iraq or Afghanistan I guess.

I was thinking the same thing. But, at least it makes it a tad more realistic, not hanging out in the daylight with a huge skull on his chest, which he keeps doing in the comics.

To be fair, these nearly always look wonky out of context of filming quality lighting and stills. I still think that one publicity photo of Constantine makes his jacket look super cartoony, but with all the wash and filters in the show itself, it ends up looking pretty good.

Netflix India revealed a new promo image for the upcoming second season of Daredevil. In the image is Bernthal wearing an outfit that's very close to the comic book version of Punisher. In addition, Elodie Yung is in her full Elektra outfit, which is quite different than the comic book version, but it looks more practical for the series.
In an interview with Collider, showrunner Doug Petrie discussed Punisher's entrance:
"In that first episode where we’re so mysterious with him, if you know the character of Frank Castle, you're just going to go fanboy bananas because we really tease it out. And if you've never seen him before and are unfamiliar with the canon, it's still a pretty satisfying episode because something really powerful that is against what Matt stands for is now inexorably entering Matt's backyard."

I've watched the first eight episodes and I'm enjoying it. I think Jessica Jones has been the stronger of the two series, but Daredevil is still bringing the goods.

F yeah ninjas. Wonder if The Hand will be the main baddies in The Defenders. I want more of The Hand.
At first I didn't like too much the changes to Elektra, and thought the comic book origin and past with Matt Murdock was better.... but by the end of the season, grew to like her whole deal.... Still always reminded me of Nyssa Al Ghul from Arrow....
As for The Punisher, I liked the little tweaks they made to his character. Such as getting shot in the head and "constantly reliving that moment due to brain damage"...."EED" or whatever it was they were talking about in court..... just seems to "justify" at least a little bit for sympathizing with this character, who by all other accounts is just a murdering psychopath.... If he starts up his killing spree again, no reason why Daredevil's top priority shouldn't be finding him and putting him back into jail, though.
Was good to see Kingpin show up for a few episodes. Not sure how they managed to keep that one quiet. Just love the actor, and feel like I can't wait to see where his character goes from here.
Season 2 of Jessica Jones will be out before another season of Daredevil, if they make one (which they just have to after that end), wonder if Foggy Nelson will show up in it....

I am surprised that the season has a 75% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Eh, I wasn't the biggest fan of this season. It was still good but felt very crammed throughout.

just finished this morning. Awesome show, really hope Netflix starts doing more originals like this. Not necessarily super heroes, but just more shows in general.
The Punisher stuff was fucking amazing and they portrayed him very VERY well. I would love a Punisher series done by the same people.
I am rewatching the whole thing right now, because I was way too hammerred to remember it all. Really, so many scenes seem new to me.

Just finished watching the third episode and thought it was fucking brilliant. The dialogue between the Punisher and Daredevil was amazing. As crazy as vigilantism (is that the right word?) sounds, I do agree with Castle's logic. And the entire conversation, including the scene when Castle threatened to shoot Grotto unless Daredevil shot him first was brilliantly executed.
The scene with Foggy stopping those two gangsters fighting and Daredevil beating the crap out of that entire biker gang. Just an incredible episode. On to episode four!
Loved the Punisher / Frank Castle in this. Didn't enjoy the Elektra arc all that much.

Done. Fucking loved it. Castle getting his skull costume at the end was every bit as awesome as when Daredevil finally got his costume at the end of last season, and Elektra's early hints of her comic costume as well has me pumped.
Excellent series all round. Punisher was amazing, can't wait for his solo series.
Question; does anyone know if these Netflix exclusive series will find their way onto DVD/Blu Ray? Want 'em for my collection.

I remember D'Onofrio saying he wanted his take on Fisk to be definitive. Consider it done. He was fucking mesmerising. I type this as he beats an agent to death in his car before switching back to his menacing calmness.
I'm gonna miss this show.
