Reading the article, and watching the video, it looks like Mysterio really had nothing to do with it.

Holy shit...I know the show must go on and what not, but you'd think they'd have some doctors down there ASAP!

Yeah, well that's why I titled this thread that, to get the actual news but see how stupid this site is for putting on Rey.

A lot of people are saying there was some sort of kick (possibly done by Mysterio) to the back of his head before he got into that position. Reports are saying he lost consciousness, never woke up, and died either at, or on the way to the hospital...
So it may be Rey's fault...

Yae the dropkick was what caused the accident.

Is there a video of the dropkick I've seen some pictures but no video of the dropkick.

Shit, one of the first "doctors" there tried to wake him up by shaking him violently.
I'm also not a doctor, but I don't feel like that's a great way to go about that.
I don't really have anything to contribute other than "Holy shit."

I suppose in the context of being in the middle of a wrestling match, if you're not a trained professional your first instinct is to shake him and try to somehow revive him/help gain his senses.
Whatever.
Fucking sucks if it's true. No idea who this guy is, but a tragic way to die, and must be devastating for Mysterio if it's true or if he's in any way involved.

Wow, just clicked on that link Owenbrown posted, there's a video of the entire match and you see it pretty clearly. Mysterio's dropkick wasn't really much different than anything he's been doing his whole career, and the guy who "died" didn't really look like he hit the ropes that badly. Crazy to think how fragile the human body is.

Okay. That makes way more sense. I 100% believe Konnan would violently shake someone who was seriously injured.

I don't think it's the kick or bump into the ropes. I think he went out of the ring really badly on the spot beforehand. Here's a description I found elsewhere:
“All four men are battling in the ring when Aguayo is nailed with a missile dropkick. He takes a bump that results in him flopping over and landing on his stomach. He returns to his feet and takes a head scissors from Mysterio, bumping outside to the floor, twisting his body while running to take the move and go through the ropes. Aguayo lands on the outside and returns to the ring and is dropkicked, resulting in him landing against the ropes in the traditional position to take the 619. It appears Aguayo may have suffered a spinal trauma while taking the bump to the outside of the ring, not realized it (possibly due to the adrenaline of performing) and worsened the injury taking the dropkick after he returned to the ring. Once he hits the ropes, Aguayo is completely out and it appears that since he landed in the normal position to take the 619, that greatly added to the confusion as initially one would think he was just selling.”
Seems plausible, or at least to some degree, especially given how clumsily and slowly he's moving getting back into the ring. He was probably already gone at that point.

Yeah, watching it a few times, it's the fall outside that messed things up. It doesn't look like anything bad, especially since he gets back into the ring immediately and takes the dropkick, but then he's out. Crazy how the body can operate for even a few seconds without issues after a catastrophic injury. First time I watched it, I wouldnt have guessed that he suffered a neck injury either, just that he somehow got knocked out. This is pretty sad.

I think Konnan mishandling him could have done damage too.

Just been watching this again. Just incredible how fragile the body is. Really feel bad for everyone involved in this match, knowing that they probably look at this now at how they continued wrestling while this guy lay there dead.
Even on Konnan's (who got really fat lol) behalf, it's not uncommon for wrestlers to get knocked out or hurt, but who could have imagined that he was dead? Absolute tragedy. At least he died doing what he loved.

Tragic for everyone involved.
Kinda weird that Suicide is next him during that whole time. Just looking at him on the ropes, you can tell he's gone :( WTF at continuing the match too, you can tell something is seriously wrong, at least in WWE they know to act on things to get help ASAP (eg Bryan vs Orton on RAW a while back)
Seems unfair to say that Mysterio killed him though. The number of times he's done that move and the number of times people have taken it. It takes two to tango, as they say.

Also, people saying that he was 'selling' so they wouldn't have know something is wrong are complete fucking idiots. It's incredibly clear something is wrong by the way he's slumped over.

I can totally forgive and understand why the guys acted the way they did. It was totally random and awkward. Who would ever think he was dead? Or near death? Shit just went wrong. From the doc's they say it was a whiplash that caused spinal trauma, either from an unexpected dropkick or the way he rolled out to the ring before the spot. I haven't seen the video more than once and I don't really mean to. Tough break truly.
Rey's return to Mexico has been a total disaster so far.
Del Rio tears his quad so the WWE Mexican Superstar Trio isn't going to be moving sales or interest.
Rey's return match is delayed I believe twice due to inclement weather and then a licensing issue, and then when the show finally does happen, the turnout is piss poor.
Now this.
I hope things turn around.

I was just reading something about AAA being "cursed" at the moment. Not just with the stuff Fragile X mentioned but they also had a bus with wrestlers and crew members crash last week injuring several people and killing a staff member. Crazy.

Wow. It doesn't seem like the dropkick could've killed him, it doesn't look that severe. But you can clearly see immediately following the dropkick he goes limp after falling on the ropes. Maybe If there was an angle showing him hitting the floor before the dropkick, it could show if he fell awkwardly or something.
Sad stuff

Whiplash of his neck hitting the ropes was being given as the cause of death.

The bump to the outside doesn't even look all that bad, but you can tell the second he rolls back in that he's "off".

I just read that they are now claiming that when he was sent to the outside a few moments prior to the dropkick (via a headscissors by Mysterio) that he suffered the spinal injury when he hit the ground badly. He then got up, not yet realizing how badly he was hurt, and got back into the ring and took the drop kick which made the injury worse.

And early that night in Tijuana two guys were injured in matches, that is why it took so long for the doctor to come out. Plus one of them was on the stretcher, so they had to take Aguayo off on a board.

For anybody to die in this manner is tragic and sad, even though these risks come with being a wrestler.
I want to take this post to send condolences to his family and everyone involved. I would also like to express my support and appreciation for those here on this site that are Indy, rookie, or professional wrestlers that are putting their bodies on the line... The ones that travel and "live of the land" to entertain... That spend countless hours away from their families in hopes that they can get called to a major promotion that pays enough not to have another job...
Thank you guys for all do...
