Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

They're gonna emote the white eyes. They're use Ryan's actual eye motions and use the mocap balls to replicate and enhance them.
That might be as influential as Tim Burton's 'magic eye shadow mask' thing in Batman. I always wanted somebody to do the white eyes thing seriously.

Yeah first appearances do tend to take priority in these deals.
Then again Wolverine first appeared in a Hulk comic and became an X-Men character afterwards. If association makes some kind of exception, then that's how Taskmaster could appear at least as a sequel villain.
But seriously; Bruce Willis/Cable. Now.

Marvel doesn't have Fantastic Four either at this point. Think Namor the Sub-Mariner's rights are still up in the air too. Outside that I'm pretty sure Marvel has everything back now.

Namor is tricky. The first 'classified' mutant, and yet the king of an entire sub-race. Closely linked to FF with his obsession with Sue Storm. Where he ends up will require omission of parts of his history, like the twins.
Remember the original Human Torch was seen in The First Avenger as an easter egg, which may or may not confirm some form of an Invaders team which Namor was part of. Although, it seems in the MCU the Avengers were the first attempt of putting special people together.
Tricky.

Yeah last I heard Universal had rights of some description involving Namor, but it's not as simple as them owning the rights entirely. Gotta love contracts.

Saying "stole" was a joke... Also, nah, the X-Men films have been alright, but not great. First Class was pretty damn good, and Days of Future Past was "passable", but neither was "great". Apocalypse might fix that, but I'm not holding my breath. Been burned too many times by that franchise to give them any sort of benefit of the doubt.

To be fair that's basically Deadpool in a nutshell. Not bashing you for not liking it by the way. Deadpool's certainly not for everyone, but this film pretty much embodies the Deadpool comics 100%. I don't think they'll have any problem at all pulling in an audience. After all Deadpool seems to be the favorite comic book character of everyone between the ages of 12 and 26 who has male reproductive parts these days.

The Room was bad. The X-Men movies were great. I like three of the four Bayformers movies, but also have great love for Alien and 2001. I like MiB 1. And MiB 2. Heroes S4 was good. So was X-Files S3. None of the Walking Dead seasons did me wrong. The '90 Living Dead remake was pitch perfect.
I know it's really hard to understand this kind of nuance, and it seems like I have no standards of judgement at all, but I do. Person who does/doesn't like this thing, says nothing about the rest of his tastes.
I wanted to give an extended reply to that because there's this thing online where people wanna draw a line in the sane for things like this without really knowing who they're talking to. And far too often are dismissal tactics tossed in ("He thinks those X-Men movies were great? Pfft, he probably likes The Room then, his thoughts don't matter").

I'm not dissing you for liking the films, I'm just saying don't call them great when they're not. You can like something while still admitting it's not great or even good for that matter. For example I like a lot of the generic pop music that plays on the radio today. Doesn't mean that I can't say it's still garbage music. I also sometimes like to have McDonald's, but I'd never say that McDonald's food was actually good. I just happen to like some shitty things sometimes. :p

No nitpicking here. Only real complaint is that the movie seemed to rush by so quickly. Was amazing and fun and incredibly loyal to the comics.
Loads of Wolverine references, as well as MCU references that are quite fun. And lots of quips like "this was my finest moment" whilst showing the X-Men Origins Deadpool figure and the "studio can't afford any other X-Men" line were brilliant.
Once again, Marvel has a winner on their hands, and if Deadpool wasn't already popular, this film will certainly do for him what the Iron Man movie did for that character.

Supposedly the film already broke a few records from the early screening and release day estimates.
20th Century Fox’s Deadpool set the record for an R-rated Thursday preview and February preview last night with an evening gross of $12.7M at 2,975 theaters. In the record books that beats the $8.6M made by last year’s Fifty Shades of Grey, which was the previous February preview champ. That Universal title sat behind the previous R-rated preview record holder, Hangover 2, which made $10.4M from midnight shows in 2011.

Saw this on Tuesday. Was super surprised that I really came to love Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead in this. They were actually really entertaining themselves. Wouldn't mind seeing them appear in future X-Men movies as main characters.
How does that make it funnier?

Just viewed this movie... the actual "plot" felt really thin, but was very entertaining via all the other elements....
Yeah, super enjoyable movie but not earth shattering by any means. Still, solid outing for Ryan Reynolds-got put over strong- could help cement his main event push.

What I am worried about with Deadpool is that it will be so highly overrated (see above post) that it will get to the point to where I am "annoyed" by it....
Something about us Jewish guyssssSSSSssss and our CyNickal view on life.
My only complaint about the movie is that the naked fight scene didn't happen before Ryan Reynolds got ugly.

To be fair they've been trying to make this movie happen for like a decade. Blame XMen Origins- Wolverine.

I don't think Poit is saying Ryan Reynolds got ugly in real life.

Oh, I haven't seen the movie yet. Did Deadpool become a fat fat fatty in the events of the movie?

Me, my brother, and my buddy saw this today.
Had a blast. With all the shots it took on pretty much everything, I'm surprised the Marvel top brass let this go.
Morena Baccarin, damn. Remember when she was on the V tv series a few years back and she was so hot she pretty much broke the internet?

No, because I don't remember anyone talking about V on the internet

She's shown her tits in Homeland.

Morena Baccarin is one of those lasses that looks better with her clothes on, not that I would object if she stripped naked in front of me....

Film's around $142 million away from breaking the all-time R-rated record for highest grossing film. Currently around $600 million grossed with The Matrix Reloaded holding the record at $742 million.
