View Full Version : How do you know you've "made it" in professional wrestling

Just something a little funny I have been thinking about recently. I have had a few of the "regular" moments of celebrity since I have achieved more moderate success in professional wrestling. I've been recognized on the street, asked for an autograph/ picture, and seen myself on tv. I was thinking though and maybe you guys can think of some of the more "humorous" way you've known you've made it as a professional wrestler?

I have had a disagreement with someone I didn't know on Facebook and they've become soo angry, they challenged me...... to a professional wrestling match!

I noticed on my Twitter (you can also follow all the pics of my cat on Twitter @RowTitan) that I have been followed..... by backyard wrestlers! Unfortunately it's not the HABM :'( so I still have a goal to achieve

That's it Road Doggy Dogg, I challenge you to a backyard match at my mom's house. It's cool though, she said we can use her good tarp as the ring and she bought some Sunny Delight for when we're done....

When your skills pay all your bills and then some.

I know pay is generally shit in Indies, but certain places can still pay well if you work well. Obviously not WWE level well, but well enough to live or whatever.

What do people make in Indies? But I agree, when you are ability to support yourself with your ability to wrestle.

OIC....

In that case, how do you know when you've made it in life, from a funny things you see kinda perspective?

I knew I made it when I didn't have to eat govment cheese anymore and need only food stamps.

I lived in Detroit at the time and made a living off stealing bikes. Stole this one dude's bike and his threats and white ass legs still haunt me to this day.

It was hectic in the D.

You know you've made it in wrestling when you guest star on some non-wrestling show on the USA Network.

Lol remember when Meng was on Mortal Kombat: Conquest. I vaguely remember him powerbombing some dude during a fight scene.

He wasn't officially meant to be on the show. A stunt double owed him money. He was pissed off and showed up at his work. A Security Guard tried to stop him, they call him "No-nose Nicholas" now. :shifty:

Are you now eyeing all limousines as either a source of some adversarial, secret, credible threat to you in the ring or a possible explosive if it is for you?

Congrats! You've made it!

On a side note, Meng should be DLC for the new Mortal Kombat.

If watching wrestling has taught me anything, it's that you haven't made it until you've headlined Wrestlemania.

If you do that, you've made it. Until then you'll get no respect here.

No, from more local stuff I've done. I was at a comic book store (because I've never seen a vagina in real life) and this guy came up to me and asked if I was the wrestler from Comicpalooza, a large comic book convention here in Houston. It was the first time I'd been recognized from wrestling.

I didn't figure this would be seen as bragging, I just thought it could be funny to think about (like the USA guess star thing)

Like you know you've made it when you wear wrestling trunks in public and don't look out place.
You begin to use catch phrases and one liners in everyday conversations.
You actually know for a fact, what the Rock has been cooking all these years...

- When you see a cheese grater, you don't think of food but rather of wrestling.
- "Toast is Ready!" makes you watch out for a flying toaster.
- A magic lamp summons images of wrestling and not of Alladin.

actually know a guy that has worn his "World title" belt into his local supermarket on multiple occasions and would hang around by the wrestling magazines hoping people would talk to him/ask if he was a wrestler. Best part was he booked himself to win said "World title" in his own rotten fed.

Probably making it to at least one of the bigger indie or international companies like ROH or NJPW. Salary at that point should be good enough to lead a decent life (except maybe TNA at the moment).

Same for exposure since most of the bigger non-WWE companies have tv deals or a decent size fanbase.

I feel if you wrestled on tna or wwe avec any consistancy and a name that people who were really into wrestling recognised you all over the country then you could say you'd made it.

You are still my hero though mang
