Probably not planning for him to ever go up to the main roster, so they figured what the hell and let him keep the name.

Either that or the WWE figures they have plenty of time to decide his future plans. Supposedly his deal is like Rhyno's in NXT or Lesnar's in the sense he only works a few dates and can do whatever he wants with his free time.

Probably won't be until September the earliest that he'd get locked down more for NXT since he has a bunch of indie dates booked till August.

This was by far the best wrestling show I have watched in a very long time. Every single fucking match was solid and the ladies stole the fucking show with ease.

NXT is going to grow into something more phenomenal than what it has become already and I cannot wait to see it live.

They've had better Takeovers. Aside from Bálor/Breeze and Lynch/banks it wasn't anything special match wise, and while Joe showing up makes a big moment at the end, this was a small step backwards in my opinion.

It on a whole was probably the 2nd worst nxt special behind 4 Way. I get with Sami being hrut The main event was doomed but it was still a letdown

It wasn't the best Takeover, but it was highly enjoyable, and not a letdown at all. Kevin Owens is the man, but honors definitely go to Lynch and Banks tonight. Those ladies put it the fuck down, and it was magical. Thumbs up. :y::y:

I know it's been said countless times but why the fuck can't WWE look at this and think "Fuck... imagine if we booked like this with the product that contains guys the guys who are already over as well." I know the smaller ECW-like crowd adds an atmosphere that makes the shows a little better than they really are. You can build a passionate crowd over time if you book the main show that fucking good though as opposed to holding main roster shows in front of crowds who are falling asleep.

But there is so much talent on the main roster. Surely it wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility for them to have some tag feud with a reason for happening (rather than 'let's have a series of matches'). All their title feuds are 'I got a pinfall on the champ, therefore I am legit'

It is boring, where are the different stories and reasons for guys to be feuding? Fans get behind guys in emotional stories and they don't even try.

Its a real shame too because the match quality on PPV is awesome right now

Exactly. The issues have nothing to do with time. That's the same excuse Triple H used on the Austin podcast and it made no sense. There's more TV but there's also a much bigger roster. The booking match-by-match and segment by segment in NXT is miles better. Do the same exact thing but with more guys and more time to do it. How is "too much time" an excuse to go brain dead?

Going back to the other page and NXT/WWE booking: Could part of it be that we don't have time to get tired of the NXT guys since the logical path after winning the title is to move onto the main roster? No going back to the NTX mid-card after a title run and having to come up with new rivalries or character tweaks. I mean, what would Neville be doing right now if they didn't pull the trigger on him? Losing #1 contender matches with Tyler Breeze? Tag matches on the undercard like Charlotte?

NXT has the luxury of moving talent along to another promotion while constantly getting infused with new ones. (That, and what Lock Jaw said about tv time they need to fill)

Like I said, the TV time excuse doesn't make sense since the ration of workers to time means you can still do the same thing.

As for the other part, that's part of it I guess. Though I'd say that NXT is good at building feuds with drama outside of "I want the title" so a guy like Neville could still flourish just by being involved in good feuds between title reigns. Even the squash matches have a purpose in NXT. It's the character booking that makes it better. You mentioned Tyler Breeze and Charlotte as comparisons. People aren't bored of them though. It seems to work out.

I agree. NXT is always fresh and never over crowded. Can you imagine what Bo Dallas, Adam Rose, Neville, Rusev, and Big E would be doing if they were still at NXT.

I mean even though he was a big star in TNA, TNA is shit. It's really shit probably on par with WCW in its final year or so but at least then WCW still had the likes of Booker T, Flair, Hogan, Nash, Goldberg, DDP, Sting, Benoit, Mysterio etc on their roster.

So I think throwing him straight into the deep end i.e. Raw, confront Cena or Orton etc. would have generated the "oh look it's the guy who was a big deal in a shit promotion...woo...effing...hoo" as opposed OMG OMG OMG HOLY SHIT OMFG IT'S SAMOA JOE WTF IS HE DOING HERE?

Only one TNA wrestler from recent times could have generated that kind of reaction had he jumped ship in his prime and that was AJ Styles....Austin Aries maybe but his stock has dwindled.


Apart from Sting last November, I think the days of the "raise the roof" kind of reaction to a debut are long gone and you can thank McMahon for that when bought out the competition.


It's sad actually, I enjoyed those days tuning in every week and back when spoilers were hard to come by or you had to wait for the monthly magazines, to see a superstar in one promotion the previous week and then over at the competition the next, it was akin to your team scoring a goal to take the lead in the Champions League final. Something like that.

Rewatched the Becky Lynch / Sasha Banks match again during lunch today, since I was kind trying to take care of some work stuff while it was on last night and didn't feel like I gave it the attention it deserved.

It was just as awesome--if not more so-on the second watch. The crowd was definitely more pro-Banks and somewhat anti-Lynch than I remembered, but it was really neat watching the crowd reaction shift to be a little more even between the two as the match went on. That shift made the end with the crowd giving her a standing ovation even more meaningful, since it felt really like it was hard earned.

I'm about to check out spoilers for the next four weeks to see how they handle Joe.

He was in TNA twice as long as he was in ROH and had WAY more people watching him in TNA. He's a TNA guy in the sense that if you're trying to explain to casual fans who he is, you're far less likely to get a blank stare if you say "TNA guy" rather than "ROH guy".

Just watched this show. Holy fuck, good stuff. I've been worried about Becky Lynch's character hitting with people, but she fucking blew it out of the water tonight. I love Bayley, but she's now my dream girl to win the NXT Women's Championship from Sasha Banks. She'll need to earn her next shot, but once she does, she could win the title in a Ladder Match or something.

Evil Emma is fantastic. Emma should be a star already, but the main roster had no clue what to do with her. She's nailing being a bitch though. Time to start giving her some wins. Have her beat Charlotte on NXT by having Dana Brooke ram Bayley into a ring post during a singles match between the two. Build respective programs between those girls, as well as the pre-existing singles matches bound to happen.

Tyler Breeze is bulletproof. He'll come out in a few weeks and be as awesome as ever. After taking out Adam Rose, a singles match between the two makes sense. Put Breeze over there and then have him move onto a program with someone else. A face Bull Dempsey or even Rhyno would make perfect sense.

I'd like to see Rhyno and Corbin continue their work together. I wish Rhyno had won so that Corbin had something to prove though. Eventually Corbin could beat Rhyno in a Hardcore Match.
