Rocket League - July 7th (PS4, PC)

I got into a beta of this game which turned out to be a sequel of a PS3 game I never heard of called Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars last month and I was shocked about how good it was. Here, feel free to take a look at a montage I put together from the second beta.

The game is such a blast and you should check it out when it launches. The beta was even polished but it so simple to play (get the ball in the goal), but it's so hard to master. I'll be playing this for a long time.

Launching on PS4 first then Steam late.

We played in the ESL EU 258 team tournament (although 100-odd signed up, so we got a bye in the first round). Made it to the last 16 but my god I choked in the last matches we played.

According to the developer, they've been having a lot of trouble with the game's servers since launch with the main reason related to the game being free for PS+ members at the moment. Ended up causing servers to overload and since its a cross-play type game, its also been affecting PC players.

A recent fix seemed like it solved the problem but barely lasted a day before new problems showed up. Psyonix Studios' currently working on a new patch meant to fix everything but no exact date was given for its release.

Game is both getting a free and paid DLC pack arriving next month.

Patrick showed us the upcoming Utopia Coliseum, but developer Psyonix has more in store for early August. A free update will add that arena plus Spectator Mode, updated Goal explosions and Demolitions, 70+ country flags, and the song "Firework" by Hollywood Principle. Free is good.

There's also paid content coming up. The Supersonic Fury DLC ($3.99) unleashes the American muscle car Dominus and the slick Japanese street racer Takumi, six decals for each, and new customization options (rocket boosts, wheels, paint types) for the full vehicle lineup.
