If you ever wonder why I'm so dogmatic about gameplay systems and admittingly biased toward Japanese game design, it's because of stuff that gets covered in this series that I have enjoyed over the years. He was a pretty cool cat and big loss for the industry. A president and representative who actually coded things worth a damn.

When he skipped out on this year's E3 over because of illness a lot of people dismissed it as an excuse. I didn't think much of it, myself. Didn't know it was that serious.

According to Nintendo, Shigeru Miyamoto and Genyo Takeda are taking over as the interim bosses of the company until a successor is named.

Wall Street Journal thinks Miyamoto has a good chance at being Iwata's successor.
