An unusual story is developing late Thursday night, as WWE has seemingly completely disassociated itself from Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan.

Hogan has been pulled from WWE.com completely, he is no longer listed as a judge on Tough Enough, and all of his merchandise links have been removed from WWE’s online shop.

The only Hogan related link remaining on WWE’s website is him being advertised for the Australian tour in which he is scheduled to be the General Manager. However, when you click the link it takes you to a page saying “You are not authorized to access this page.”

In what might be a reaction to all this, Hogan Tweeted the following:

No. That's not what I said. I said the terms are not comparable, and they aren't, because the history of the words are different. Just because two terms are the respective derogatory terms for a race doesn't mean they have the same history, and are on the same tier, because they aren't.

My point was, if you're not black, you're not in a position to discuss the usage of the N-word from an educated perspective because you don't know how that legit feels. Sure, you can feel like you have comparable experiences. But it's different. If you don't live that, and you don't deal with it on a daily basis, it's not something you can wrap your brain around. You can sympathize. But you won't be able to empathize, and I'm not saying that's a bad thing. You may have had some hard times in your life, and that sucks for real.

You made my point when you defined the words. "Contemptuous" is downplaying the word immensely. I'm in no way defending Hogan, I just have to roll my eyes at comments that read like 'he said a racist thing, now he's a racist for life, let's hope he loses everything and suffers for his injustice.'

Hulk Hogan Apologizes for 'Unacceptable' Racist Rant as He Is Scrubbed from WWE Hall of Fame

Hulk Hogan is speaking out about a just-released audio transcript that features him making racist slurs about his daughter Brooke's love life.

"Eight years ago I used offensive language during a conversation. It was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language; there is no excuse for it; and I apologize for having done it," Hogan said in a statement exclusively to PEOPLE. The transcript featuring that conversation was published online by the National Enquirer.

"This is not who I am. I believe very strongly that every person in the world is important and should not be treated differently based on race, gender, orientation, religious beliefs or otherwise," Hogan told PEOPLE. "I am disappointed with myself that I used language that is offensive and inconsistent with my own beliefs."

Hogan was scrubbed from the WWE's website on Friday morning, with no videos or photos of the famed wrestler remaining. He was also removed from the online Hall of Fame. His lawyer David Houston confirmed to PEOPLE that he's officially resigned from the organization.

"He decided to resign from WWE because he didn't want to put them or his family through this," Houston told PEOPLE.

WWE, however, maintains that Hogan was fired: "WWE terminated its contract with Terry Bollea (a.k.a. Hulk Hogan). WWE is committed to embracing and celebrating individuals from all backgrounds as demonstrated by the diversity of our employees, performers and fans worldwide."

Hogan told PEOPLE he will use the situation to "improve as a person" and that he takes the matter as an "important learning experience."

A transcript of the audio shows the wrestler repeatedly using the n-word in reference to his daughter Brooke Hogan's dating life.

Hogan was already enmeshed in legal drama when news of the transcript leaked. The Florida trial for his high-profile lawsuit against gossip site Gawker was recently delayed until at least the fall. The star's legal team filed a $100 million lawsuit against the site after its 2012 posting of video from a sex tape, made in 2008, featuring Hogan. The video was later removed from the site.

So apparently Piper got interviewed for his opinions about the Hogan racism scandal and ended up creating a PR mess almost as big as the Hogan one.

As if the situation couldn't get any wilder, Roddy Piper was the latest wrestling personality to chime in on the Hulk Hogan situation. The WWE Hall of Famer appeared on Audience Network with former ESPN anchor Rich Eisen to talk about the controversy.

As it turns out, Piper spoke very little of Hogan, or anything specific really. Instead he brought attention to himself, and talked about how he'd ordered at Mexican restaurants that had sandwiches called "gringo burgers." He also made sure to mention that he once placed 5th in the world in bagpipe playing.

"When I would go into Madison Square Garden, I wasn't the most popular guy. Madison Square Garden there's 16,000 Puerto Ricans with knives and great radios and stuff. They pick it up from L.A. That's how they knew that I was there," Piper tried to explain.

Piper mentioned that he would wear a kilt at MSG, he'd have homophobic slurs at him. Eisen steered the conversation back towards Hogan, where Piper finally commented...sort of.

"My point is that, boy, you guys are sensitive," Piper said. "Hang on. I know people who have to get up to walk five miles for water first thing in the morning. I'm just saying this literally happens to me my whole life. With Hulk, I don't agree with all his choices, but you know what, I don't hear people saying all the great things he does. When he was on the Wheaties box, all those kids that said their prayers and took their vitamins. I don't hear them saying that. They just want to nail this."

Piper also noted that everyone needed to get a life, but we shouldn't be hurting people's feelings for no reason. He also mentioned that Brooke Hogan isn't actually Brooke's real name, and put over the Stand for the Silent charity he's worked with. Eisen then apologized for the homophobic slur Piper said that managed to make it on air.

Whether or not Hogan is a racist and I don't think he is, WWE were left with little other option in this matter coupled with as another poster pointed out, the sensitive climate surrounding race relations at the moment. The last thing WWE needs is a scandal involving race relations.

I know people have pointed out the hypocrisy of the whole Vince using the N word in an angle but as TPWW reported a spokesperson argued that was all part of a scripted storyline whereas Hogan's rant was very real.


However consider this; if they're going to erase all memory of Hogan based on a incident that took place almost 9 years ago and for which he has vehemently apologised then why induct the likes of Mike Tyson who lest we forget was convicted of rape?

If you go through every single personality associated with WWE over the years you'lll dig up plenty of dirt. There's a difference between making comments that are racist and actually being a racist i.e. actually acting on those views to discriminate, treat those of another race differently.
