It would actually be a good idea to have Nikki not break the record. Fans are good at keeping two sets of books these days -- there's the kayfabe enjoyment of the angles and matches, then there's the "internetty" way of thinking. Regardless of whether or not it is true, Nikki's push has been attributed to her relationship with John Cena and the WWE wanting to bump off AJ Lee's record.

If Nikki dropped the title to Charlotte, people wouldn't be able to say "She's a politicking bitch" and she gets to "make" Charlotte. Down the line, if it comes time to put the Divas Title on her again, it gives her a goal to achieve. If AJ Lee ever patches things up with the WWE, there's money in bringing her back as the longest reigning Divas Champion ever too.

What does Nikki get if she keeps the title? A bit of a bragging right she can't really use, because she doesn't seem keen on being a true heel. Honestly, the playing to the crowds and "we're good people underneath" shit needs to stop.

Fans are good at keeping two sets of books these days -- there's the kayfabe enjoyment of the angles and matches, then there's the "internetty" way of thinking.

This comment in and of itself is something WWE seems to not want to come to terms with. Until Ryder got super over on his own thanks to YouTube, they were content to mention "the internet" with disgust and paint the picture of the basement dweller instead of half the live crowd with a smartphone in their pockets.

Most of your "casual" fans anymore have at least half the sensibilities that "smarks" do. They can appreciate *good* wrestling, and can pick out when they're attempting to be bullshitted. A guy could have gotten by with minimal skills and a million dollar gimmick 30 years ago. Today, not so much.

I honestly don't really care about Virginia Tech... but they got a hometown boy as a (now) backup QB, and ESPN keeps giving him a shout out, and by extention, a shout out to both Ursiline High School and Youngstown, Ohio as they mention both things. Been an issue since he went black & white..... I mean, the original story/build/Sting vs nwo/Hogan was amazing.... but after that there were problems...

Something I think TNA actually got "right" was not trying too hard to make Sting seem like 97 Sting. They gave him more uptempo music, they let him speak, they let him wear different colours and add some colour to his facepaints.... etc...
