As long as I've been here, I can only remember one other person ever saying they play or have played MtG and that was RtD. Does anyone else here play, or am I the only member of TPWW who plays? What do you play if you do? Have you won any major tournaments? Are you looking forward to the return of the Eldrazi?

I use to play when it fist came out but quit around 97 or so, lost most of my cards since then and am kicking myself for it.

Only ever played on a game console, which I know doesn't really count. I didn't have any geeky friends whomwould hqve been down to try it out with me when that started getting big, so while it was on my radar, I never got into it. Hindight, however, I'm kinda glad I didn't... the commercials made it sound pretty simple with the whole "A deck, some friends, and your imagination" they advertised, but playing was actually a bit more complicated than that, and I wouldn't have had the patience for counters and shit.

Always dug the artwork, though. That was pretty true for pretty much any TCG.

I never got big on it, I do enjoy dabbling in Hearthstone now and then now though as far as card games go

I have a couple of legacy decks that I use to play with my other nerd friends occasionally

I owned a game store from '06-'11 and had weekly MtG tourneys there. I played in one prerelease since then (can't remember which set). Honestly haven't missed it much. Tournament level Magic is generally filled with asshats.

Use to play a lot. I remember a 7 logo being on the bottom of the cards if that helps with a timeline. I came in second in a couple tournaments that had around 20 to 30 players. Could never beat one fucker that was easily in his 20s while I was 15 with a 10 dollar allowance.

You knew Kane Knight before you posted on TPWW?

My friend is 31, broke as fuck, got a missing front tooth that he supposedly can't afford to replace. His cards are easily worth over 10k, but he just won't sell them. He'd rather buy a new deck than a new pair of pants.

I played from around the time beta came out until 2000. Mostly tournaments. Then got tired of every 4 months having to drop between 100 and 200 to stay competitive in the tournament scene.

Kept 10 decks and a box of cards. But locally have no one to play with.

It's all about Yu-gi-oh and the heart of the cards.

You think you had it bad, try:

It's all about Yu-gi-oh and the heart of the cards.

In order to be competitive, you have to drop > $400 in that same time frame. Most of the power cards are harder to get than Mythic rares in Magic.

I still remember going to a World of Warcraft TCG tournament that was held the same weekend as a SJC (Shonen Jump Championship, YGO's high level events) and the kid that won the event was later found hiding in the back seat of a car with 20-30 backpacks that had "disappeared" from the tournament hall.
