View Full Version : TPWW ***Official Thread*** WWE Live at MSG Network Special
So the show has been on for forty minutes and doesn't have an OFFICIAL thread...
I like the set for the show, different from RAW/B-Shows. Rich Brennan doing commentary instead of Michael Cole, seems good.
RESULTS SO FAR:
* Orton/Ziggler defeated Rusev/Sheamus. Sheamus turned face after the match and gave Rusev a boot to the face.
* Neville defeated Stardust

Because WWE Creative is horrible in general. Not just for Bray but for almost every feud going on.
To them, having countless matches is better than spending the time developing things or having fewer but more meaningful matches.

Cena retains at Hell in a Cell against Sheamus or someone, comes out the next night on Raw for the US Title open challenge and gets ambushed Nexus style by Samoa Joe and maybe a couple other NXT guys who are out to end Cena on behalf of the IWC and "guys who have busted their ass in the indies for years while WWE's golden child made millions".
The attack leaves Cena "injured" and he has to vacate the US Title. Title goes up for grabs in a tournament that is won by Samoa Joe who dominates the competition WITH HIS PATENTED COQUINA CLUTCH until Cena comes back in January looking for revenge. But first, the Royal Rumble. Joe and his fellow members of the Initiation to Wipe out Cena (GET IT!?) makes sure he doesn't win and then refuses to grant him a US Title match unless it's on his terms. A) He'll use Cena to get his WrestleMania moment. B) Cena has to put his career on the line. Joe vs Cena title vs career at WrestleMania.

Honestly, predictability aside, Lesnar was the only thing I cared about seeing on this show. Feel like he could wrestle a banzai tree and it would feel like "spectacle". Big Show is the single worst booked entity in the history of professional wrestling. It is abysmal and even the kids and target audiences are so bored by him that last night's after match stuff was laughable.
He has become a laughing stock and he could have been what Lesnar currently is over a couple of decades. It is disgraceful the way he has been handled, a massive missed opportunity and I feel really sorry for him.
And for those who say, well he has his millions to cry on, legacy counts for something and his could have been Andre/Hogan/Bruno levels. Instead, it is so far removed from that it is shocking. Desperate, and the very best example against all the recent discussions about how WWE know what they are doing booking wise. I feel justified having little faith in the company that have booked Big Show.
Maluco
10-04-2015, 12:24 PM
On the positive side though, the main event was very well booked ending wise, Rollins clearly had gotten the better of Cena this time around and the cage helped showcase his athleticism and quickness. Really impressed by Rollins.

Mr. Nerfect
10-04-2015, 06:24 PM
I kind of want them to switch the US Title to Dolph Ziggler. Use the Total Divas thing with Dolph hitting on Nikki as a starting point. Dolph wins the US Title using some heel chicanery and writes Cena out. Lana is noticeably absent from all this.
Cena returns at the Royal Rumble, or something, and gets a small measure of revenge on Dolph by tossing him out of the Rumble. Cena finds himself in a program with The Undertaker, however, and Dolph ends up being confronted by Lana. She's found a new man that is going to beat the piss out of Ziggler for making her look like a fool. Cue Cesaro coming out and being Lana's new Superman.
Give them the opening match at WrestleMania, where Cesaro can win the US Title in a competitive match, freeing up Dolph for a potential post-Mania program with Cena.
Mr. Nerfect

Another great show by WWE:
* Randy Orton and Dolph Ziggler are a sexy dream team. It was a shame that the WWE put Dolph with Lana, because all the girls want to get with him, so knowing he is a bit of a slut -- chasing Summer Rae and Nikki Bella around -- will only boost his popularity. I like that they are building to Orton vs. Sheamus too. Those guys have great chemistry, and every time one scores a win on the other, it feels like a new chapter to a great rivalry is being written. It seems odd they are inserting Rusev into the mix, but I like the depth of the story here. Of course Rusev is going to get frustrated because he's losing all the time. It's called a STORY!
* Stardust vs. Neville is another rivalry that I am glad we get to see so prominently featured. Cody Rhodes was never going to be a star, nor was Adrian Neville, so I'm glad they've embraced their colorful "Stardust" and "Neville" personas. A win against Stardust means the ball is now in the former Cody's caught. I can't wait to see if he'll exploit his relationship with The Ascension next.
* I don't get why people are down on PCB still teaming together. It's called a STORY! They don't like each other, so they have to work through those issues when they are forced to team on major shows like this. It also allows them to have the Divas Champion lose, which is great for building up the rest of the division. Becky and Charlotte forfeiting a match might seems like it would go against their hyper-competitive natures, but that just highlights how much they HATE Paige -- far more than them actually wrestling against Paige would.
* Jericho's promo could have been good, but I think pointing out it was his 25th anniversary in the business was a bit of a mistake, as it makes him feel old. In fact, the WWE probably shouldn't mention anything prior to his WWE days. You can't really ignore those great moments, but I'd let people think he started his career as a 20-something in 1999. This would mean Chris Jericho's career would only be 16 years old, and they can probably squeeze another 9 years out of him. They could have put the IC Title on him here, because Owens is a bad guy. It bothers me when they win matches.
* A lot of people might think that running essentially the same angle between The New Day and The Dudley Boyz is a silly idea, but it's actually pretty clever. It EMPHASIZES the STORY! The Dudleys will need to come up with a new plan to take out DQs from their matches, and that will allow the table spot to end the match, get a huge pop, and allow The Dudleys to save tag team sports entertainment. I like The New Day, but that's the problem -- they are supposed to be bad guys -- which means they should lose and be less entertaining.
* Five-star match between Brock and Big Show. I would have liked to have seen Big Show get in more offense, especially if it is his last match. I know the plan was to build Big Show up for another match against Cesaro, but some guys just have a roof, so it doesn't matter that Big Show beat a rising star on RAW. It's all part of Cesaro's STORY of being a limited performer. It sucks that the crowd didn't give Big Show the standing ovation he deserved. Smarks that read the dirt sheets, the lot of them.
* I'm digging the Kane vs. Rollins program. I just wish it was for MORE TITLES! Rollins probably shouldn't have been made to look like he could have won the match, as now some people might actually think that the WWE Title is as worthy as the US Title, and start cheering Rollins. They should probably put Kane over at Hell in a Cell, just to stop that forced face turn of Rollins from happening, and because with Big Show now being down, they'll need to make Kane look stronger.
* I liked the way Sheamus could have cashed in at the end and won the title, but chose not to. What a STORY!

As hilarious as these Noid posts are...it's depressing to realize that WWE has gotten so bad that seemingly the one person who could always find a way to have an optimistic take on the product thinks it's complete shit.
There is great wrestling out there outside of WWE but this current WWE product has practically burned me out on the industry as a whole.

I'm in the same boat, Vito. I try to look at the bright side of things, and it's not like I'm about to actually shut out the WWE anytime soon. It's just that most days I want to. The good news is that things can turn around really easily.
Maybe once Donald Trump's presidential campaign is completely put kiboshed, he'll go even more nuts and start up a new wrestling company with Wale...or something...

I'll say that I'm down on TNA even more than I am WWE. A lot of people ask "Why do you want any wrestling company to die?" I want TNA to die because they are wasting the health of the men and women who have given them years of their careers, only for TNA to devalue them as commodities.
Fuck TNA.

I'm assuming that program ends with Cena going over strong at Mania?
Way too early for Joe. He hasnt even headlined in NXT. I dont think WWE should be looking for Kevin Owens 2.0 right now. Too many indy geeks makes the show look like...well TNA.
I would be trying to find someone who Cena can give a rub to, that would actually be able to have a chance of carrying the company down the road.

For the record, I thought it was a really effective show.

As a matter of fact, in my little fantasy booking, I did have Cena going over at WrestleMania. It wouldn't be Kevin Owens 2.0 though because it wouldn't be a few weeks of build for an Owens win and then "Cena gets his win back. Not convinced? CENA WINS AGAIN! We REALLY need to drive home this point that Cena is better than this guy! Also, the guy who beat him is gonna lose a couple more times after that huge win to make sure any credibility is shot."
You'd have Cena out of action for a couple months after the attack... You'd use the Rumble to stall and stretch out the eventual confrontation/revenge while keeping Joe looking like a fucking stud... You'd eventually have the match made for WrestleMania after Joe has spent 5 months building credibility as the guy who put Cena out of action and dominated the competition as US champion... and then you'd have Cena be triumphant at WrestleMania. Once. You wouldn't book multiple rematches so Cena can COMPLETELY remove any doubt that he's miles ahead of Joe. You'd have two guys step in to the scene to take each guys' attention and branch off onto their own paths. You'd have both guys keep looking strong. You wouldn't drill the point into people's heads that Cena is completely superior. He'd have his win, Joe would have that one single loss and down the road, if you wanna have a rematch, it would be HUGE.

You could even keep their feud going in mini feud fashion by having them battle in MITB while being kept off each other for extreme rules and payback, assuming the schedule mirrors that of 2015. At battleground, replant the seeds to have the mania rematch at Summer Slam. It really isn't that hard.

I guarantee if WWE booked that angle leading to Mania and Cena went over. People here would say Joe got burried.
Seems illogical that a feud goes from major injury to career threatening to well let's just move on then. And what would Joe's next program be? No matter what it would be a huge step down just like Owens'' was. And again people in the IWC would be like "burrrrrried".
You guys respect Steve Austin, right? He said it was the right thing for Cena to go over Owens 2-1.

Joe comes out on Raw the night after WrestleMania and says Cena earned his respect. The other guys in the stable that injured Cena don't feel the same way and turn on Joe. That's just one option. Don't act like a blood feud hasn't turned into two guys "respecting each other" in the history of wrestling.
There are ways to work two guys out of a program subtly if the writers put in even a little bit of effort.
And yes, sometimes building up for months to one big match and not doing it again and again and again and again over the next month or two to the point where it's done to death and you can never come back to it down the road for another big fight atmosphere is much better for everyone involved. Instead every feud has to be run through in a couple months, every feud has to have a rubber match so everyone can be even. It's lazy booking and no one ends up getting over from it.

I was reading an interesting factoid about how Orton and Bryan actually had the longest streak of PPV main events against each other in 2013. A lot of that comes down to automatic rematches and lazy shit like that. I wonder how much more exciting Orton vs. Bryan could have been as a potential main event on its own, and not just the story of Bryan's rise making it.

You could say that about a lot of matches. I brought up Reigns v Wyatt last week. We're supposed to be excited that they're wrestling in a HITC match, but we've gotten them going at it on free tv, a cool table spot included, two weeks in a row, on top of the last two network specials. I don't understand how they could think anyone could give a fuck at this point.

That and they have a really bad habit majority of the time of just using the announcers to build up feuds or reasons why anything is happening. Either the good stuff gets relegated to WWE.com exclusive stuff or is just implied by the announcers.
For example, Owens wrestled Sin Cara last night because they had an incident backstage. Instead of showing it in an "Earlier Today" type recap, the announcers just said it happened and that was it. Crowd probably thought the whole thing was just some random match than something with real meaning to it.

They're particularly bad at it with Randy Orton. Matches with Sheamus, John Cena and Daniel Bryan have just been completely run into the ground.
