I am going to be picking up a PS4 or XBox 1 on Black Friday and I am attempting to find out what one is the better pick.

Do either of the systems have more issues with internet connections? Or downtime in general? What system is more friendly in general? I heard that XBox gives you a couple free games to download per month while being a Gold member. Is that true?

So far the main "exclusive" games I can think of is

XBox: Halo and Smite

PS4: Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

Am I missing any other major exclusive games?

Are there any other details that one system has over the other?

For your help you will be rewarded with many green dots of happiness!

You're missing a shitton of exclusives. Sunset Overdrive and Dead Rising 3 on the XBox side are great, with Until Dawn, Infamous and Street Fighter in the PS side.

They're both very similar this time around, although PS4 gets slightly better versions of games as it has more power. Things like MGS and Battlefront will run at a higher resolution on PS4.

I'd just take a look at this list and get the system that has more you want to play:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_video_game_exclusives_(eighth_generation)

Both XBox Live and PlayStation Plus give you 2 free games per month for either system.

The free games for xbox is true and it is pretty great. Thought playstation plus had an equivalent but maybe not.

As far as exclusives go, xbox also has Titanfall, Killer Instinct, and Sunset Overdrive.

PS4 has a lot of exclusives on the way like Street Fighter 5, Uncharted, No Man Sky, Horizon Zero Dawn. PS4 also gets a lot of exclusive indie games.

The Last of Us and Uncharted series are PS exclusive, that I know.

What about other titles worth a damn? I don't know most of the games on that list.

Oh, wait, Gears of War and Halo are Xbox exclusive, ok.

Halo, Smite, and FF7 are the ONLY exclusives you could think of? Just get a WiiU if those are the games that come to mind.

As an owner of both a PS4 and XB1, its honestly a tie. Both consoles have great exclusives. I will say that I feel the PS4 has better narrative type exclusives (Uncharted, Last of Us, Until Dawn), where the One tends to be much more action oriented (Gears of War, Halo, Dead Rising).

What the fuck does the WiiU have to do with any of those games? Should I know all the games of systems I don't own?

Yeah, it's great.

Could never get into Halo, though.

I enjoy the campaign on Halo. Specifically pushing it to the hardest difficulty and trying to figure out how to get through the levels. Multiplayer was fun when playing in the dorms but meh ever since. I will play it from time to time but never get really into it.

Outside of exclusives, multiplatform games usually perform better on the PS4 or have some special stuff because Sony pays for it.

For PS4, might be worth to check out some of the remastered PS3 games if you never had that system before (or don't have a PS3 to play the originals). Indie games are better supported on the PS4 but might be better to wait for a sale or when they get added to PS+ based on trends for those games.

For Xbox One, Games With Gold usually supplies a good game or two each month for free. Especially once Xbox 360 games are officially added for the Xbox One offerings next week or two.

I honestly would say go PS4. Bought mine about a year ago and I've been extremely happy with it. Playstation does give you the free games every month too, and it's got a bit more power than the Xbox. In terms of games I mean it's all personal preference. Personally I haven't seen a single exclusive for either system that would make me pick them up. And from what I've played on my brother's Xbox One I can confirm that they're both about equally user friendly. Anyway I'd say unless you're dead set on a specific title that is exclusive to Xbox I'd go with the PS4.

I always love Smelly Meatball's advice. It is like twice as powerful as anyone else's in any forum (Well, you tie Hansey in the Video Game forum).

I've had both systems since launch. I have probably 4 to 5 times as many games on PS4 as I do on XB1. That should pretty much sum it up.

Bought my PS4 solely for the fact that I wanted a console that just played games and blu-rays. Nothing more. Got Netflix on it as far as apps go but that's it.

Get an XBone if you want a giant box to take over everything else on your shelf space and have double as your entertainment device. Ditch the cable box, etc.

Don't care about exclusives really. Nothing on Microsoft's end has gotten my attention to run out and get and XBone after a little over 2 years out there.

Gotta say...i'd rather have the larger box than risk burning out hardware. When I play MGSV on my PS4 it sounds like a jet engine about to launch.

There's nothing wrong with the PS4 form factor, the internal re design is pretty quiet.

Hell, my launch model has only been loud on the title screen of Rocket League.

There's this contest now to win a PS4 that would make the nerds wet.

Drave, I went with the XBox 1. We will have to play some time. Currently have the Gears of War game it came with, Halo 5, and Witcher 3. No idea what other games I should get.... Some are on sale too right now but I am so lost.

What's the scoop on this free game thing? Like "modern" games? Free forever or for a "trial period"?

Emperor Smeat

Both PS4 and Xbox One give out monthly free games if you have a subscription to either Playstation Plus or Xbox Live Gold.

The games stay in your library and are playable as long as you have the subscription active. Once the sub ends, they get locked until either you purchase the game itself or renew the sub.

Lock Jaw
11-27-2015, 02:45 AM
So, checking the website of "Playstation Plus" it says

"November's Free PS4 Games:
The Walking Dead: Season 2, PS4
Magicka 2, PS4
Mass Effect 2, PS3
Beyond Good & Evil, PS3
Dragon Fin Soup, PS4, PS Vita (PS3 Cross-Buy when available)"

Would you have these for as long as you are "subscribed" or would you just have them for the month of November only?

Lock Jaw
11-27-2015, 02:48 AM
Ok, Wikipedia has answered me.... they continually add new free games, but may "take away" older free games.... and also do take them away after a month often...

But as long as you "bought" them while they were free, they work and can be re-downloaded for as long as you're subscribing to Plus.

How do I find the gamer tag? I named myself Zuzzlin. Is that it?

As far as games I like almost anything.

Doubt I will get Destiny though. Feel like there is a ton to play first and that game cost money monthly I believe.

Yeah... But if you buy them it isn't "free"...

The "buying" is like "buying" a free app on your smartphone/tablet.

I don't "buy" free apps, I just install them.

Ruien
11-27-2015, 12:10 PM
Exactly. You agree to the terms/conditions and you download them. It says free and then install. You are thinking way to much into it.

Need some multiplayer games I think. Halo 5 and Gears of War won't cut it forever.

drave

EA Access is pretty worth it too. I think it is $35/year and you have all genres of sport games, Dragonage: Inquisition, UFC, Need For Speed, etc.

You said you didn't want Destiny, but it is a very good multi-player game.

Any of the Batman games are pretty fun, for sure. I have yet to play Arkham Knight myself, but I have plenty to play right now and stay busy for a while.

Since you are into MOBA's you should download Smite. It takes some getting used to playing 3rd person perspective, but it is pretty fun once you get the hang of things. It is free-to-play.

Ruien
11-27-2015, 07:50 PM
Smite is a must! Heck ya.

Ruien
11-28-2015, 05:14 PM
So it was explained to me that Destiny does not have its own subscription fee. I thought you had to have Gold and then pay extra a month for it. In essence of this development, I have bought Destiny.

I have like 8 games and the hard drive on my PS4 is almost full. Its absolutely ridiculous.

Ruien
11-28-2015, 11:43 PM
Ya, I have noticed that. Really silly but I imagine you can get a thing that allows more memory. On the positive note, I doubt I will need to have 10 games on at one time.

Witcher 3 seems super fun so far. Halo 5 is Halo but I never played 4 so its really fresh for me. Need to not get sucked into Halo multiplayer. Played 3 games and it is telling me "FEED ME MORE!".

Only just started Witcher 3 myself since it was $25 on PSN. Pretty great so far, although not grabbing me in the same way that Fallout and MGS did this year. good shit either way.

It does not play like Halo 4.
