Doesn't look like there is much comedy in this one.

Bill Pullman must be in like his 5th term.

Trailers are funny like that.

Bill Pullman must be in like his 5th term.

That's what happens when Obama abolishes term limits and institutes martial law... it doesn't necessarily mean he gets re-elected, and they keep bringing back the jet-fightin' President. He likely broke FDR's record.

Bill Pullman must be in like his 5th term.

He could have possibly retired as President after the strain of the office after the attack and came back later in another election.

Seems far too serious/dark/gritty.

And it seems that Will Smith's character died in a plane crash . Lame :|

Isn't there a new president now? That woman in the suit?

Yeah, I assumed she was President since Lonestar had the epic drunken beard.

If you fly a fighter jet to save Earth from aliens you're allowed to be President for 5 terms and rock a hobo beard in the office.

That's the law.

Yeah but he looks like Randy Quaid does now in real life.

This does feel like The Lost World. Seems like it's going to be Goldblum heavy.

Independence Day didn't really need a sequel, and this one looks like every modern effects-driven alien invasion film. However, it does still look fun, so whatever.

I think the incident that went down in Africa in that timeline might have made a better a movie than what's coming but i am hoping to be surprised

Looks like shit. But then the original was also shit.

What are you talking about? The original is great, makes me proud to be American.

Looks "meh" but I will prob still rush to see it.....

Didn't Brent Spiner die in the first movie....

Frank Drebin

I don't think so....he got "possessed" by that one alien in the lab but they never said he dies I don't think.

I guess.... always thought he was "dead" and the alien was "using his corpse".... but now that I stop and think about it, makes sense that he was actually alive, just being used as a telepathic conduit to speak.... prob couldn't use his vocal chords if he was dead....

Figured he might have died by arrant gun fire that killed the Alien but wooo. Data is in this. He was my favorite part of ID4 other than Pullman's speech.

I'm trying to not be so cynical, but this really looks bad.

After that second trailer, my thoughts are still this:

Independence Day didn't really need a sequel, and this one looks like every modern effects-driven alien invasion film. However, it does still look fun, so whatever.

Went and viewed this movie today....

Obviously nowhere near as good as the first one. Was it a good movie? Was it a bad movie? I don't know.... it was just a movie.

Feel like there were a lot of extraneous characters in the film and it was a bit disjointed at times, but once things started getting going and the aliens arrived on the scene, it was a fun mindless popcorn movie....

No real memorable lines/scenes/scores and the aliens looked more "real" in the original film..... but I dunno.... I don't regret seeing it. Good way to pass the time.

One spoiler:

Wow, when Jasmine died, the dude who played Dylan did a terrible acting job at sounding distraught.... Was sitting in my seat just going "Oh wow... really?" at his acting....
