View Full Version : As much as I hated Seth Rollins on the Microphone

He was a good champion, and I hope he returns at the rumble and reclaims his title which he never lost to begin with.

Agree.

I don't think Rollins shows at RR though.

Seth Rollins may have had his hang-ups on the mic, but he understood how to promo. Plus he sounded comfortable with sophisticated verbiage. If the company stopped scripting everything and had him do story time every week, he could be wonderful as either a self-confident heel or a babyface for the new age.

When he returns, I'm sure Rollins will be a baby. He'll just be too hot, and the match against Triple H at SummerSlam books itself. But at some point, I'll be looking forward to the Rollins "I was always a piece of shit and you fell for me backstabbing your heroes again!" storyline.

Rollins is my way, way far off in advance pick to take the 2017 Royal Rumble, by the way.

Listening to all these Roman Reigns promos really make me miss Rollins.

Exactly, Rollins bored me each time he used the microphone, but at least he was booked a lot better than Roman, Roman just looks weak.

Most of it probably just because the wrestlers are trying their hand at acting, rather than "delivering a promo," from the gut. It'll probably always be what it is, a bunch of beefed up bros who want to kick ass and put on a show trying to be an actor...a lot of it sounds like the old high school acting clubs plays we had to sit through during assembly.

I heard on either Austin or JR's podcasts that somehow they were starting to use teleprompters...I think on the end of the cameras so the talent can easily see it.

I wish there was a viable alternative product that was a throwback...not just a spotfest.

Lucha Underground is the shit. Definitely acting, though.

Definitely felt some of those bsckstage promos of late have looked like the talen was reading it off a teleprompter.

Imagine people like The Rock and Stone Cold being in today's WWE?

Rocky Miavia and The Ringmaster might have been future endeavored by now. I believe it was Steve Austin who said the Stone Cold character came from him just going out there and being real about shit, which seems kinda taboo anymore.

I dunno, just seems like if they were forced to speak one way instead of going out there and doing "them" they wouldn't have been as successful.

They actively DISCOURAGE promos.

Which is dumb because, if they let the staff do them, it'd make the writing easier.

Think Reigns biggest problem is the WWE trying to shoe-horn him as both Cena 2.0 and Austin 2.0 at the same time when its not really working. Even rehashing the Austin-Vince feud isn't meshing well with Reigns ability at the moment. Doesn't have the promo skills to carry feuds or shows nor the charisma to pull off an Austin-type because he barely takes things seriously character wise.

Had the booking been way better, Rollins could easily have been the mega heel to complement Reigns' rise as the mega face and be the basis for the new Austin/Rock or Cena/Orton era defining feud.

Assuming Vince would still have his way, Rock probably would be in or near Reigns spot but as Rocky Miavia. Wasn't until the crowd started to openly revolt like they did with Bryan that caused the drastic changes and birth of The Rock.

Seths promo against Paul Heyman at the contract signing before the Rumble last year was FIRE.

Reigns is the brooding badass in the back -- he's not the leading man.
