A guy who's had to work hard and EARN everything. Nothing that happened was given to him on a silver platter. He had a short run as a jobber/developmental guy for WWE in the early 2000s before spending around 12 years on the indy circuit..then he comes back in 2009 and eventually wins every title, except the WWE Championship before it's unification with the WHC.

The guy is a bona fide great and a surefire first-ballot hall of famer. THAT is what people see in him.

He genuinely sounds grateful for all of that too and that is a great place to start as he moves to plan the rest of his life.

He seems like such a nice, genuine guy and his popularity just dwarfs everyone else even after being inactive for so long. Happy for him that he retired. If he kept trying to come back, I feel like he would have been riddled with injuries with the way he worked and the fact that he's not getting any younger nor could I envision him slowing down.

It's shit that we don't get to see his awesome matches any more but I feel like he more than Punk, has inspired the next generation of wrasslers.
