Seems like this story might be related to the ESPN-WWE partnership and some bad stuff that happened at FOX Sports in regards to one of their UFC reporters based on recent Observer tweets.

Might even involve the Observer as well since their NXT reporter has hinted the news is really bad while Meltzer is hinting at WWE and/or ESPN making sure nothing bad gets leaked during Mania week.

"Seems the Tweet I made from my personal account has caused quite the stir. I will address it here, and then never address it again.

I am not a journalist and have never claimed to be. I do a podcast, write reviews, and a few times per year when the situation is right, our site or our podcast will break the occasional news story (the infamous Dixie email, Steen signing with WWE, Ibushi to EVOLVE/Kaiju, Candice/GFW no show drama, PWS stuff, the end of DGUSA, etc). We are not and have never claimed to be a news site. Tons of hard news & rumors finds our DM box that we choose to sit on, and there are people reading this right now who know full well that we (myself & Rich) sit on TONS of "scoops", especially when specifically asked not to speak about it. If we wanted to be a news site or hunt for cheap clicks, we could very easily do so.

The story I Tweeted about has been cooking for months, and somehow stayed quiet. It is now making the rounds, and being hinted about publicly. I am not going to break it. I have no interest in breaking it for a variety of reasons. It would drive CLICKS for sure, but it isn't my place to report it and it isn't what we do here. My belief is that it will come out soon because the person has enemies (to be fair, who doesn't?) who will find a some pleasure in outing it. That won't be me.

People are running wild with it on places like Wreddit. Your mileage on the word "major" may vary. I feel like it's a major story because it involves someone who works full time in the wrestling business and reputation(s?) will be ruined. Some may not consider it a "major" story.

There are people who will read this who are aware of the situation. This is not me asking them to back me up or to out themselves. In fact, I prefer that they don't confirm or break it here, because I want no connection to this for a number of reasons. I may have underestimated the power of Twitter or my own reputation as a news source in peoples eyes when I made the Tweet. I made it from my personal account, and figured my friends would see it and didn't think it would cause much of a stir. That was stupid, but at this point it's whatever, because the toothpaste cant be put back in the tube.

I won't ever speak about it again. If/when (more like when) it comes out, I'm not going to claim to have broken it, or confirm it as being what I was talking about or anything like that. I made the Tweet, I have to own that, but I want nothing to do with actually breaking the news or claiming I instigated it breaking. If I was interested in that, I'd simply write the story and publish it here.

A trusted source on the Observer's forums knows what this big thing is about and also why the guy who made the vague announcement quickly wanted nothing to do with the story.

Also same reason why the Observer and nobody else has revealed it yet since nobody wants the massive lawsuit that likely will happen next if it is not confirmed to be true.

It's a talent, if the scoop is not true and it's reported it will be slanderous/libelous. But given who it is I have to imagine it's true.

Wrestling in itself is a very trashy business, so 98% of those who report on it make the National Enquirer look like the beacon of reliability.

So far the three biggest theories going around the net on what this story could be are:

NXT's Bayley rumored to have cheated on her boyfriend with Finn Balor which would fulfill the talent and ruined reputation part of the rumor.
A pro wrestling writer named Brandon Stroud being outed as a huge creep, might have sexual harassed a few female indie wrestlers, and might have stolen nude pictures from at least one female indie wrestler's phone. That would fulfill the person having a lot of enemies part of the rumor.
Daniel Bryan rumored to be involved with a suicide attempt recently and a lot of bad blood between him and the WWE has been brewing for a while.

The second one is the story with the most traction at the moment although also has a lot of issues with it being reliable as well.

Just a bunch of random speculation by people trying to tie in stuff said by the original guy. There are a lot more but those seem to be the biggest in terms of "huge story" status.

The second one is interesting since while I've never heard of the guy, he's supposedly been having a lot of dirt against him building for a while now.

The Bayley one is likely more on how very close those two seem to be which might be fueling the speculation of them becoming a couple soon.

The Bryan one is mostly from people speculating something bad is happening with Bryan's health and strained relations between him and the WWE based on recent sheet news.

Only other one that would be huge would be something related to concussions or medical stuff like WWE's head doctor. Stuff like that has been openly talked about so it wouldn't make sense for the original guy to want to hide the story or help out the WWE since they are dealing with lawsuits and other potentially bad stuff related to it.
