View Full Version : Here's the thing about faces and heels.

Anyone who says faces & heels don't matter is an idiot. Vince Russo = High King Over All Kings Of Idiocy. However things have changed and the face & heel dynamic is much more complicated. For years Cena was the super babyface who was noticably booed. Ziggler and Cesaro had noticeable runs as heels who were cheered. Now Roman Reigns is deliberately being booked as a babyface that people don't like against an obvious fan favorite in AJ Styles.

I think we need to understand that Reigns is going to be booked this way no matter what. It may lead to a heel turn somewhere but for well over a year they've been booking him in spite of the reactions he gets. At first they may have been thinking "they'll come around" but they have to know at this point that they aren't.

Reigns is a babyface that people don't like and they're booking him as such. Watch his WM32 entrance. He walks out. The crowd boos. He gives it the barest acknowledgement and then walks to the ring with determination. He's not there for cheers, he'said there to win, and all the haters in the world aren't going to change his behavior. This is the direction they've chosen. The company'said fortunes no longer turn on having a super-over babyface. Waiting for Reigns's heel turn is as useless as waiting for Cena's.
