QUESTION - Do you think a "Matrix Reboot" could work?

Matrix 1, 2, an 3, all took place between 1999 and 2003. Given what we've seen from Batman, Superman, Spiderman, Ninja Turtles,...and lets be honest, X-Men, 13 years is a pretty lengthy and acceptable amount of time. I'd have Christian Bale play the role of Neo, but I'm a Christian Bale/Batman mark and so I'm ridiculously biased.

What do you guys think?

I think it could be pulled off, and even successful. In the original Batman movies (1989 - 1997), the series was generally considered "good", but with a lot leaving to be desired. Eight years later, Batman Begins hit the screens and most of us were completely blown away by the trilogy that followed. Perhaps a Matrix Reboot, and new trilogy, can amends to what many considered to be a 'let down' in the original Matrix 2 and 3?

I'll take a Christian Bale Equilibrium II instead.

Make a movie about the first human to ever break free of The Matrix and the founding of Zion and their sweet dance moves

That sounds pretty cool actually. My only criticism of the idea is that the 'protagonist' wouldn't really come through in the end, as the first humans to break free of The Matrix were pretty much living in ruins trying to evade the machines.

I'm thinking Kalyax' idea might be the best (sequel as opposed to a reboot), if they went with another Matrix movie. I don't know.......

I'd even be interested in a movie not so much about the first person to break free, but about Smith's story of the first Matrix; the one that failed because it was "too perfect".
