This might not be the catchiest title they've come up with so far.

The friendly neighborhood Spider-Man’s next adventure has an official title.

“Spider-Man: Homecoming” will swing into theaters next summer, Sony Pictures announced at CinemaCon, the annual exhibition trade show taking place this week in Las Vegas. To make the big reveal, the studio flew in Tom Holland, the English actor who is slipping into the wall-crawler’s spandex, fresh from the Hollywood red carpet of “Captain America: Civil War.”

“I’m Tom Holland and I’m your new Spider-Man,” said Holland, who promised that the new film would find the superhero and his alter ego Peter Parker searching for his identity. “I hope it takes about three movies,” quipped Sony Pictures chief Tom Rothman.

“Homecoming” will focus on Parker’s struggles to balance his high school life with his vigilantism. Rothman described it as the conflict between “saving the world and getting your algebra homework done at the same time.” Sony also unveiled the film’s new logo. It features a jaunty font, with the second “o” in homecoming replaced with an image of Spider-Man’s mask.

That's what made spider-man so popular in the first place. Sounds good.

Loving the font though on the reveal though, has that classic spidey feel to it.

kinda like the sly reference in the title to spider-man being (for all intents and purposes) back under marvel's control/guidance at least also

Not sure if I like the font...looks kind of cheesy and 'not cool' like other Spider-Man film logos...I know this is supposed to be the John Hughes Breakfast Club/Pretty in Pink of superhero flicks.

I can picture a scene where Peter Parker is outside the gym - where the homecoming dance is being held - Peter's in the parking lot and Tony Stark pulls up to give him fatherly/romantic advice in a John Hughes film type of way. Of course, later the villain crashes the homecoming dance, because, well, that is what villains do.

I hope we get a villain we haven't seen yet! Spidey has so many amazing villains.

^

Producers said they will use a villain/villains that haven't been used in a Spidey film before. The love interest might be someone new too (rumor is a teenage Black Cat).

Homecoming dance is so going to be a setpiece in the movie.

And the main villain.

Hoping for Kraven the Hunter to be the main bad guy in this. While setting up other classic Spidey villains

So is it going to be a part of the MCU but made by Sony? Don't really dig that font or the name but I suppose it fits a high school Spiderman. My brother won't like this as he was wanting the Sinister Six movie they were planning.

Marvel Studios.

I guess.

The Vulture will be a villain in the film - BirthMoviesDeath is reporting (they previously reported the title before it got announced). It is not confirmed if he is the only villain or one of the villains though.

Maybe Falcon will make a cameo in Spidey since he's cheaper than Iron Man and we'll get a Falcon/Vulture fight?

Vulture is nice and just big enough to add on to the whole high school drama plot without making it a random jump. Maybe the Vulture could be a teacher or staff at the school itself.

Michael Keaton in talks to join Spider-Man: Homecoming as a villain.

Recurring villain at that. I think he might be the Jackal as they've done Norman Osborn before and apparently the MCU wants to not retread old villains or stories.

Iron Man announced to be in the film with Homecoming building on the ties created from the upcoming Civil War film.

The official Spider-Man movie Twitter account has confirmed that Robert Downey Jr. will join Spider-Man: Homecoming's cast. The original story follows:

Marvel president Kevin Feige confirmed that we would see other heroes join Spider-Man in the upcoming Marvel and Sony joint production, and now we know who one of those heroes will be. Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. has signed on to appear in Spider-Man: Homecoming, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Captain America: Civil War will establish the relationship between the two superheroes, and apparently, Homecoming will build upon it.

Michael Keaton in talks to join Spider-Man: Homecoming as a villain.

I cannot picture Michael Keaton being in nothing but a cape and cowl if he does another superhero movie.

That being said, talks have fallen apart. And now he's out.

According to reports, Marvel and not Sony has full creative control for the new Spiderman film. Before it was assumed they were either sharing creative control or Sony still held enough sway to get things done their way whenever needed.

Thought this was a given but sure, like hell Marvel will waste a shot at their vision.

Yeah I figured it'd a case of Sony sitting back and revelling in the profit.

Wait, this is different than the second wave of Spider-Man movies? So this is the start of the third set of movies? Whatever happened to the second wave? Seemed like they still had legs to make a third movie.

The "Amazing Spider-Man" series is over due to the negative responses causing Sony to bail on all their grand plans and make this deal with Marvel instead.

Well, it was also it didn't make as much money as they wanted. They will make a lot more $ this way.

I didn't care for them too much, but I am "mildly sad" that we will never get the "resolution" of what they were "building to" for two movies......

Ahhh. Ya, if they didn't produce the revenue then I won't blame anyone. Oh well, hopefully this Spiderman will be badass.

Oh yes. Please just give a 3 minute explanation on how he became Spiderman and call it a day.

You guys have noticed he's spider-man already, and with Stark appearing in Homecoming there will not be a need to make a technical prequel to MCU spidey.

It'll probably be mentioned in passing.
