With three major stars set to return in the coming months, and with at least two of the three likely to receive favorable reactions, and the WWE having a bit of a heel problem at the moment (if you don't count Roman Reigns), I'd like your thoughts as to which star returns and reveals themselves to be an utter conniving utter bastard.

John Cena: The perennial babyface of the WWE world. He's been a face since he turned back in 2004, and he grants all those wishes for the kiddies. But with Roman Reigns looking to take the, *ahem*, reigns, there's an obvious barrier with Cena there as to who is the true franchise of WWE. Plus, the WWE has arguably never had so many potential uprising babyfaces in a long time, and they also have some substantial merchandise movers who could fill the gap a heel Cena would leave -- The New Day, Dean Ambrose, Sami Zayn, Kalisto, Enzo & Cass, etc. No one is going to become the #1 babyface with Cena still around, even if he is feuding with Ryback and Stardust over the United States Title.

It will never happen, right? Well, Cena is not getting any younger, he was arguably doing the best work of his life before he left, plus his new show runs up against SmackDown. Is it entirely insane to hypothesize that perhaps Vince McMahon is getting a bit angst about Cena leaving the WWE corporate family in order to pursue life outside wrestling, and eventually using the WWE as a pool of regeneration as he breaches Hollywood? A heel turn would revive Cena in the world of wrestling, draw eyeballs to the product, and potentially piss on Cena's good guy image, challenging him to reinvent himself and regain stock in the entertainment realm. It won't really hurt him, actually, but maybe in Vince's mind it will? I think a case could be made for heel Cena merchandise flying off the shelves and enhanced interest in a bad guy Cena for movie roles -- Hell, he's practically played a heel in most of film gigs anyway.

Randy Orton: He apparently prefers to play the bad guy, and he's got the chinlocks almost programmed into his style. Orton could easily return, take issue with a Sami Zayn, beat him up and it's back to business as usual for The Viper. The downside is that Orton is arguably more electric as a babyface, garnering huge reactions with just a stare into the audience even when he's not engaged in anything meaningful program-wise. There is arguably a lot more money left on the table with a heel Orton, who has basically done everything he is going to do (although there are fresher opponents for him now).

Seth Rollins: A few months ago, it would have almost been a lock that Rollins would return as a heroic babyface, looking to prove his worth to the fans newly won to his side, eventually beating Triple H with his own move at SummerSlam to a chorus of cheers from a Brooklyn audience. But now Seth's return time has reportedly been moved up, and with Reigns as a babyface champion, Ambrose still a babyface and a whole bunch of new opponents for him to have great matches with, Rollins might return to that large pop, and then do an evil cackle and remind everybody how much he loves being Triple H's shoe-shiner.

So what will it be? Orton or Rollins? We all know it won't be Cena.

Thank you for doing the poll correctly.

Honestly I don't think any of them will come back heel, though Orton will probably turn in short order.

Orton seems like the best bet. Rollins is great at it too, but the initial cheers + him railing against Reigns will have people cheering him to an extent that can't be ignored.

Orton can be an amazing heel and is really at his best when he is being a dick. Sami Zayn would be a good target, as he is loved by many crowds. If AJ Styles doesn't go heel @ Payback, I could see him going for Styles too. That could actually be a really decent program with Orton and Styles.

Orton by most indications is a giant douche outside of the ring, so it's no great surprise that he's so good at being a heel. He'll get a huge pop when he returns just like everybody else who returns, but it wouldn't shock me if he were to show up and then immediately RKO a universally loved guy like Styles or Zayn.

Feel like Rollins would make the most sense. Especially if Roman is still champ, I think Rollins would be able to draw the most heat for the feud.

Rollins would definitely be cheered in a program with Reigns lol

Orton since he usually is a lot better as a heel than as a face.

Ultimate shocker would be Cena. Possible too now that Robo Reigns is

"I'm not a good guy. I'm not a bad guy. I'm THEE GUY!

-Roman Reigns on the mic for the past few weeks.
Safer bet is Randy Orton.

Heel Orton will get cheered against Reigns. The general crowd loves Orton and will pop like crazy for an RKO outta nowhere.

Face Seth Vs. Tweener/Reigns.

Orton might not come back. Heel in some way maybe Vs. Cena again. Orton could come back and get upset if his return isn't as heralded as Cenas.

I'm still of the opinion that if they want Reigns to be cheered, they need to reunite the Shield. With this Bullet Club stuff they're setting up the best thing to do would be to have AJ turn and reunite with his two totally-not-henchmen nudge-nudge-wink-wink guys, then have Ambrose attempt a save only to also go down, then have Rollins make a surprise appearance to solidify Reigns' victory. I guarantee the pop would be insane if it ended with the three of them staring each other down, then doing the fists-together pose followed by the classic shield music. Actually, have them start the Reigns solo version, then have Reigns cut it off and say on the mic "play the RIGHT verson."

I just teared up a bit just thinking about it.

Then Reigns NEVER speaks again except to cap off the other two with a single line.

Definitely Orton. Rollins is a maybe, but honestly I think he'll be turning face when he returns. Cena is never going heel so everyone needs to shut their big, fat mouths about it already. Rabble, rabble, rabble!

That's part of the reason I kind of want to see Gallows & Anderson with Jericho. Right now, Jericho actually gets heat. He's been getting some wins and he actually beat AJ Styles at WrestleMania. It would make sense for Gallows & Anderson to want to align with the bigger lion. AJ knocks back their help, they help Jericho against Ambrose (which commentary can sell as a preemptive on Ambrose due to his Reigns connection) and then attack both Reigns & Styles after the match, with Jericho revealing himself to be behind it. The main event of Extreme Rules is then Reigns, Ambrose & Styles vs. Jericho, Anderson & Gallows. You also probably get Shane McMahon fighting Triple H for control of RAW or something.

Styles works too well as a face at the moment. Sure, a heel turn might eventually increase his value, but I feel like you have to put the WWE World Title on him to do that, and that would mean the belt moving around way too much. I wouldn't object to it happening, but I think they're pushing way too much into that little sphere there. Jericho can always be knocked off later by Gallows & Anderson when they get their feet wet a bit more. Balor can replace him when he's up there.

Ah, fuck it -- just do the Styles turn. It'll be glorious once it happens.

Here is my ideal Extreme Rules card (I would actually ditch this PPV name if I could):

* Roman Reigns, AJ Styles & Dean Ambrose vs. Chris Jericho, Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows
* Triple H vs. Shane McMahon in a Street Fight
* Charlotte (c) vs. Becky Lynch vs. Sasha Banks in a Ladder Match for the Women's Championship
* The New Day (c) vs. Enzo & Cass for the WWE Tag Team Championship (in Enzo's home state)
* Cesaro (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental Championship
* Ryback (c) vs. Kalisto in a Title vs. Mask Match for the United States Championship
* Alberto Del Rio vs. Rusev vs. Sheamus in a League of Nations Triple Threat
* Baron Corbin vs. Apollo Crews
