View Full Version : The WWE is going at this Brand Split all wrong!
Look, i love the idea of trying to recreate the competition that the Monday Night Wars had in the 90's early 2000's. The problem is, Vince seems to think his fan base is both stupid and apparently dont have internet. It's not just the smark fans like us that know the Stephanie v Shane feud is bullshit. The regular fans know it too. If Vince really wanted to pull this off, he should have actually said " Hey shane/Steph you'll run this show and i'm bringing in ( just tossing random names here ) Bischoff and Russo to run the other show and lets see who does better. That's how you create real competition that all fans are actually tuned in to see. Instead what we have is a farce. We have a pretend feud between a brother and a sister who are both in it for the company and not in it to beat each other. There is no competition here. The smarks and the regular casual fans know this is bullshit. It's an insult that Vince thinks he can even pull this off. And it's sad because someone like Vince should know that the best way to pull this off is to actually create real life competition.
I just cant get into this Brand Split. I do appreciate the jobber squash matches they are bringing back. I think those are great and serve a purpose, but the brand split as a whole is just a smack in the face to all the fans.
Make real competition. Not fake competition. Thats what will get you ratings.
And you know what else. The highlight of the last 3 shows ( Battleground, RAW, Smackdown ) for me, was Sasha Banks winning the title. The WWE did it right. They made that title worth something by having the Flair girl hold it for so long and that meant it was worth something when Banks won. But that should not have been the highlight of these last 3 days. And that's sad.
I'll be honest. THis was the first time i've ever seen Finn Baylor. I've hear a lot about him. Never seen him and you know what... I dont know what the big fucking deal was. I wasnt impressed at all. I thought he would be bigger. I thought he would be more talented. I dont get it. I dont get Finn Baylor. He's just another wrestler to me. I dont get the hype. Maybe someone can explain it to me.
Where are the fucking Dudley Boy's btw? I love the fucking Dudley Boy's. They could easily be a tag team contender and i didnt see them at all this week. What the fuck? I love The New Day. I love Enso and Cass ( I really just love Enso and think he's the next big thing in the WWE ) but why not mix the Dudleys in. Why introduce some random mexican group in the fold. Where are the Usos WHAT!
One more thing ( or maybe not ). Can anyone actually see Fandango becoming anything more that a mid card jobber. Dude's name is Fandango. He dont even have a chance.
And how in the fuck do you not put Ambrose and Rollins on the same brand. Those dudes have worked some of the best matches i've seen. Even that RAW match where Rollins won but didnt win was amazing. And geez did the WWE screw that up or what.
I'm going to bed before i get started on the Brock Lesnar not being suspended for PED's like Roman Reigns was.
One last thing. Luke Gallows is too ugly to even make a gimmick about Luke Gallows being ugly. FFS
If i were the WWE, i would plan my entire product around Enzo Amore. Hey call me crazy if you want, but this time next year, Enzo will be the champion. No joke. Mark this thread.
Enzo is easily the best mic worker the WWE has and it hasnt been such a landslide like this since The Rock was up and coming. I challenge anyone to disprove me here. This guy is incredible. He really seems to have a monkey on his back called Big Cass. I can totally see a Diesel/ HBK like fued between Big Cass and Enzo. I literally think Enzo is the next big thing in the WWE.

Agree with some, not all of what RP said. I'm really not liking the team of Shane and Daniel Bryan. They act like marks for their own show. The ending of Smackdown was just weird with both coming out separately just to be excited about the Summerslam match.
I've gotten into wrestling this past 2 months again and i went back and watched the the PPV's this year and a few other shows. Enzo is incredible. I havent had a wrestler make me actually repeat his catch lines since The Rock, or maybe Stone Cold with his " What ", or Kurt Angle's " It's True, Its True ". Enzo has done something i thought would be impossible and that is, he's got my attention. I've become a huge fan. I love the guy. I dont know about his hair, but other than that, this guy is epic tits. I really believe he'll win the Royal Rumble next year.

Feel like eventually we might get Cass as the Universal Champion and Enzo as the Cruiserweight Champion. Think they'll win the Tag titles first though.

They need to win the tag titles ASAP and hold onto them for 3 years.

Ways I'd have fixed things
1a - Smackdown should have stayed live on Thursday not Tuesday. The only reason SD was taped on Tuesday was because it was close for them to travel from RAW. Aside from the ring crew now that's not an issue. The issue of there being 8 to 9+ hours of wrestling over 3 days on weeks there's a PPV (lot more often) is going to burn out people from watching.
1b related to this point is that either RAW should have gone to 2 hours or Smackdown to 3. As it is RAW naturally appears to feel more important because it's 3 hours. Plus SD didnt get the 10 minute over run RAW gets either.
2 If RAW gets a cruiserweight division then SD should have gotten the entire women's division. The tag team divisions being split up is bad enough but the Women's division isn't deep enough to be split up across 2 shows.

RE: The Dudleys, I think it's pretty widely known that at this point in their career, this will likely be their last WWE run, and if they're serious about Brand Extension 2.0 being all about the "New Era" in the company, they're probably quite fine with putting over the new hottest teams to give a slight boost to the newer teams' credibility with fans.
As for Brock, he's a part-timer, and whether you or I or anyone else likes it, due to the fact that WWE do not consider him a regular performer, he's evidebtly not subject to being tested. Furthermore, I really question why this is being so blown out of proportion as it seems there's no way the SummerSlam match he's going into against Orton will live up to all the hype, at least on paper. It just seems very underwhelming to me at this point in time. It's not as though they both can't put on an excellent match, but I find myself continuously wondering, "Who the hell is this match even supposed to be FOR?! :wtf:"

I'm all for it. In fact I feel like it should main event Summerslam. It's a way more high profile of a match than Ambrose/Ziggler or Rollins/Valor.

The Dudleys need to keep changing their disposition in order to stay relevant, which is a bit sad. It was like that towards the end of their last WWE run too. That's not really a knock on either of them, it just seems like they get stale real fast.
I still like the idea of putting them with Chris Jericho as a bitter old villain faction.

Enzo ignites the crowd really well. People have said that he'd be better as a manager for someone, but babyface managers historically haven't been worthwhile. Can he talk as a heel? I imagine he could, and I think that he might make a lot of money as that sort of asshole that everybody knows should get his ass kicked but has the muscle to back it up. When The Authors of Pain are ready to get called up (if?) they are the sort of guys I would put with Enzo. But I think he could get a killer babyface run where he randomly wins the big one. Basically like how Jeff Hardy won the IC Title from Triple H in 2001.

Kind of wish the Dudleys had went to SD and AJ recruited them to the Club after losing Gallows and Anderson. Want The Club to be on both shows with AJ as the leader of one and Valor the other. Can come together during joint PPVs and wreak havoc. Eventually lot them against one another in a match to determine the true Club.

I'm actually very intrigued to see whether they press on with Balor as a babyface or go with The Balor Club.

I'd feel bad for him if they didn't put him with Gallows and Anderson. He did a lot of hype about those 2 coming in and now that they are on the same show I expect some type of interaction between him and them this week on Raw.

Well if they don't put him with them, they'll likely be turning on him. This means he'd get a run as the top babyface on the brand, which isn't really cause to feel sorry for him.

It seems like we'll be getting Gallows & Anderson picking a side in the Universal Title war, and I'm actually intrigued to see if they go with Balor or Rollins. People seem to want to cheer Rollins, but it suits his character so well to pluck The Club from their previous allegiances. It would also suit him to become the first Universal Champion and laud it over everyone forever. This would also logically go to follow that Balor would be forced to make alliances with The New Day and Enzo & Cass, which allows him to rub shoulders with some personality players.
