Lol. One spear ftw. Now how do you sell this match on Sunday? In what world can Rusev win?

I guess they had to give Reigns a win tonight so when Rusev beats him on Sunday, people "know" that Reigns can beat Rusev.

In what world can Rusev win? He just laid into Reigns forever and couldn't get a pin but one spears beta Rusev.

Seems really dumb to have Reigns win clean right before their match at Summerslam. Then again think he's had all the upperhand moments in this feud as well.

In the world of WWE where wins/losses/logic don't matter. He will probably win on Sunday after doing far less damage/punishment to Reigns.

The match happening in the first place was a bit silly. Reigns & Cesaro vs. Rusev & Sheamus would have been fine. Teased that the winner of the Best of Seven Series gets a US Title shot. Cesaro accidentally nails Reigns, Sheamus takes out Cesaro and Rusev pins Reigns in order to build heat for SummerSlam.

I'm actually hoping that Reigns does win the US Title at SummerSlam. Rusev is so entertaining, he really doesn't need that anchor of a belt. Reigns winning it would at least be intriguing in the sense that it's not the top belt, so the Roman Reigns experiment can continue away from the main event scene. He can have great matches and do great work and earn some stripes before getting another shot near the top. He'd also be the first member of his family to win the US Title, wouldn't he? I eventually want to see Reigns vs. Cesaro.

Peter Maivia and Rocky Johnson were both NWA United States Heavyweight Champions(San Francisco version) in NWA San Francisco according to Wikipedia. Not really family though.

You know what would be really sick? Is if the Best of Seven Series between Sheamus and Cesaro is for the right to be Shinsuke Nakamura's first opponent in the WWE. Cesaro vs. Nakamura at Survivor Series? Yes, please.
EDIT: Well, have Cesaro win the Best of Seven Series and become #1 Contender for the US Title, and Sheamus' consolation prize is to face Nakamura. Cesaro vs. Reigns for the US Title and Sheamus vs. Nakamura at a RAW PPV would be tremendous.

I don't think that is part of the canonical WWE US Title history though, is it?

Not according to the reigns list on Wikipedia. WWE only counts the Mid-Atlantic version of the belt for its official lineage.

Who were the first 8 mayors of suplex city..... I need to know the history....
I would have to assume one of them was Tully Blanchard, before his "extracarriculars" got him the Marion Berry treatment and ousted from office.

Madusa, Scott Steiner, Taz, Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle. I asked Mr. Heyman on the Twitter Machine for the complete list.

Also, that pic of 'Taker with a cane makes me kinda wanna see him as a manager. Or, at least get a mentor role for some younger talent who can't quite get it done yet on the stick (Baron, for example). Maybe start calling young guys "pencil neck geeks".

Gran Torino 'Taker. Takes a young, nondescript, Asian (so, no Shinskue, KENTA, or anyone else mildly over stateside) talent under his wing, with all the uncouth, racist, tough-love in the world. Lets the kid use the "You're Gonna Pay" instrumental theme and ride his motorcycle (in lieu of a car proxy) down to the ring.

I still say Tully was one, elected via Slingshot Suplex, and ousted from office for nose candy. Can't believe I didn't even think of the obvious in Taz.

I was rushingg out of the house right after the Balor/rollins segment so I couldn't post then, I am specifically here to say how stupid that was. I don't know Balor, I don't watch nxt, I really am indifferent to this runt, but figured ok whatever, I will give this new era a chance. I was embarassed watching that crap. I literally thought he was a knock off of The Boogyman. Seriously, what the hell did I watch? That was not exciting, that was not awesome like the 6 fans chanting "this is awesome." I don't know what is more painful, this little midget in face paint crawling to the ring in some african outfit, or The Rusev/Lana wedding segment.
I don't know what the wwe business plan is, I assume they are trying to market to kids again, because as a 32 year old male there are less than a handful of things I can enjoy/relate to. But I really shook my head and rolled my eyes at that segment. You are promoting a new championship and have a cartoon character competing for it. At least we know Rollins is going to be the champ so that is fine.
Its still real to me dammit.

Agree with Stickman that the Demon King just wasn't right for Raw. I also found the little contingent of fans screaming "this is awesome" funny because it wasn't. It wasn't my first time seeing the Demon King but it was the first time I wasn't a fan of it. The people I was watching with thought he was silly.

I agree that it's silly to rush the Demon King persona so quickly, although hot shotting Balor into the main event didn't give them many options either. Just another case of not looking ahead and just winging it day by day, it seems.
The Club doctor thing strikes me as the silly stuff we'd do in C-Fedding. It's stupid but funny, and I love it.

Why do they need to name it? Just have Finn Balor come out looking fucking awesome at SummerSlam.

To be fair, that crowd sucked balls. I dont even remember where it was. But it was just bad luck trying to debut a character like that in front of that junk crowd.

Being familliar with Devitt, my problem was also wasting the paint for a nondescript RAW instead of the PPV at least, if not a return match.
Also, my problem with the "demon" gimmick itself isn't this "confusion with Kane" business (seriously, you people are the reason why two people couldn't have the same fucking name, because we'll get confused with more than one Steve, or Shane, or whatever, because who can contextually tell the difference between AJ Lee and AJ Styles, or Shane McMahon and Shane Helms, amirite?!)
... my issue is more of how generic they have made it- boiling it down to a single look that is a mash-up of some of the best body paint cosplaying he's done (Carnage, Venom, Spawn...) into a single, somewhat marketable look of teeth and streamers. The paint job wasn't just for special occasions, but also was a "what is he gonna cosplay as next?". Kinda like Rey Rey in his various WrestleMania attire over the years.
Simply put, the demon should be special occasion only, and the look should vary when he does it.
