QUESTION - Would The Rock vs. Dave Batista at Wrestlemania be of any interest? (also - Goldberg!)

I have this idea that at Wrestlemania 33, The Rock and Dave Batista have an impromptu, unscheduled, non-advertised, match.

At Wrestlemania, Batista unexpectedly comes out to the ring dressed in a 3 piece suit and shades, and bashes the WWE, and talks about how he is a major Hollywood star now. Rock then comes out, and sets Batista straight with a scathing promo. Rock then challenges Batista to a fight, and the two men get it on. Good? no good?

I'm also thinking that at Wrestlemania 33, perhaps someone like The Miz (who is still IC champ) can cut a promo about how he's being screwed by the WWE.....and that despite the fact that he's destroyed the competition, he's been left off the card for no good reason.

Goldberg's music then hits...........and you get the idea.

Thoughts?

I'd like to see the match but having it unscheduled is all kinds of stupid.

No. If they built it up properly, the only 'Mania match involving The Rock that I'd have any interest in seeing at all would be v. HBK.

I'd like to see Batista vs Brock

I don't get the unscheduled thing, but yes, Rock vs. Dave has got major potential. I wouldn't have thought so a far years ago (I mean, it'd be "big" in the sense that Rock vs. anyone with any sort of name value is big), but Batista's sly little in-roads into Hollywood adds a layer to it. When he's allowed to be skinny-jeans wearing Bluetista, he's fucking amazing.

Batista MUST be the heel for this though. The Rock should also lose. Cleanly. Because even if Big Dave is the heel, he's gonna have that cool factor that needs to be nurtured. Plus, I don't think Big D comes back to lose after the company fucked him over creatively last time. But yes, that would be massive.

As for Goldberg: I had actually hoped for something like that to happen at SummerSlam. I wanted Cesaro to be the IC Champion (wrestling Chris Jericho) and Miz to come out somewhere else in the show and talk about how he's a former WWE Champion, yadda, yadda, "I challenge anyone in the back to a match," cue Goldberg music. Spear, Jackhammer, the end.

Miz could whinge about how he wasn't ready at SummerSlam and they could do another match at Backlash with Miz calling out Goldberg constantly over the weeks (like his program with Cena or Jericho's program with Goldberg). Goldberg shows up again, Spear, Jackhammer, the end.

By this point you will have gauged whether or not there is interest in sustaining Goldberg as a featured performer, but also gotten some nice little moments out of it. Miz is perfect for getting destroyed by Goldberg. Heath Slater would be too. Just put him on the PPVs proving that he's "still got it" and give up when it stops generating buzz.

Would rather see Goldberg vs. Undertaker than Goldberg vs. Brock II.

And I'd rather see Goldberg turn down a WrestleMania match than Taker/Goldberg because "Mania is about the young guys. I remember what I had to wade through in WCW. I might be ready to go and ready to be a champion again, but I'm going to sit out at WrestleMania, because I've got a different sort of hunger at this point in my life." He's just around for smaller shows because he wants to get eye-balls on these young guys who are tearing it up and he wants his son to see that his daddy's still a bad-ass. Cue someone like Dolph Ziggler calling him out for being in it for the money and having the ego to be around at all.

You could do this on a Stone Cold Podcast, which would generate huge numbers.

No interest in seeing Batista at mania in any fashion whatsoever. Dancin' Dave can stick to being the modern-day Oddjob & Drax.

I'd love to see Rock in the ring, but the only opponent that would make sense in my eyes would be Brock or Owens....

I'd be down for Rock v Batista, I'd advertise it though as it'd get a decent amount of mainstream attention. GOTG2 comes out in April next year so the timing would be great.

Goldberg vs. Undertaker might have been better instead of Taker/Brock.
Undefeated Taker vs an out of company man means very little now. ABout the only thing that would interest me would be Taker/Nakamura match for Takers last match...

I will watch the Rock anytime. But I have zero interest in Batista. Even when he came back as Bluetista I had zero interest. He is a notch above Del Rio in my lack of caring category.

Really want to see Rock vs. Bobby Roode and Rock vs. Nakamura. Just putting that out there.

I think Batista and WWE are on the outs at the moment anyway. Batista turned down an appearance in the League of Nations segment at WM32 and then told TMZ that he thought it was bullshit that they suspended Titus and took his Mania paycheck away.

He's one of the only characters from WWE 2k16 that they didn't port over into the next game, usually they only take out people that WWE currently have issues with.
