Not for nothing but I wonder how far Derrick Bateman would have gotten in WWE were he given an actual role on the main roster after NXT.

Apparently TNA managed to get enough funds from their mysterious new investor to last till the end of this year.
The LAW has spoken to someone familiar with the situation that is going on and while they could not comment on the financing of this week’s shows, did confirm to us that the pay-per-view and tapings will happen this week. It was also told to us that the New York Post story was accurate in that neither Billy Corgan nor the WWE are involved with the financing for these tapings.
TNA will be taping all week long and if you figure in two episodes per night, that would put TNA through to the end of 2016 with their tapings and give them the rest of the year to sort out of the ownership situation, if there is no announcement tonight or over the next week.
This is really the best possible outcome.
This gives me six more months to make fun of stupid shit TNA has done and will continue to do. Thank you kind, anonymous benefactor who is absolutely not Jeff Jarrett with his gold pyramid scheme.

Does he really? Ha! All I really knew about the guy was that he was on The Rock's reality show. I just went to look him up on Wikipedia again and the dude has been doing this for fourteen years. Holy shit. That's way too long to be that...not good. I imagine that the WWE saw that there was nothing to develop and thus let him go in 2014.
But man, did he so badly want to be The Rock? His acting was so over the top. He's a heel, so the super-expressive selling has its place, but he's not Rock, so he can't get away with it.

I've revised my list of talent WWE might possibly want from TNA down to:
* Abyss
* Bobby Lashley
* Crazzy Steve (NXT)
* Jeff Hardy
* Drew McIntyre
* EC3
* Cherry Bomb (NXT)
* Gail Kim (but I don't think she'd go)
* Jade (NXT)
* Raquel (NXT)
* Rosemary (NXT)
* Sienna (NXT)
* McKenzie Mitchell
* Brian Hebner (if they decide to forgive him for helping his daddy and uncle sell t-shirts)
They will probably take Matt Hardy eventually, but I think they are smart enough to realize that the money is in Jeff Hardy and when he cools to bring back The Hardys.

"Let me talk to ya..." and "... fact of life." isn't so bad... IF he didn't do it exactly the same way ALL the goddamn time.
This on top of the 3 point thing EVERYTIME he says his name, "DUMMY, YEAH", "WHEN I SAY DUMMY... I WASN'T TALKING TO YOU, I WAS TALKING TO ME" shit makes him hard to listen to. And his delivery is, as I said before, way too similar to a Rock promo. It is like he's a dollar store Rocky.
Dollar Tree Eli Miavia.
Him being on some show with The Rock is news to me. But it makes sense, now. Maybe he got some "advice" or "coaching"... but it kinda stinks of knockoff. Kinda like anyone familiar with music around the mid 90's where Babyface could do no wrong, and you could tell who he had signed to his company, because any song written by him "sounded" like him in performance- most notably with Toni Braxton and the debut of Jon B. (who sounded so much like him, that nobody could originally tell which verse was Jon's and which verse was Babyface without seeing the video for "Someone To Love"). Point is, if he *did* get help, it was more a curse than a gift, because he comes off as more a TNA carbon copy than someone who got a few pointers to try help his career trajectory. It would do the same damage if he was on "Hogan Knows Best", and then showed up in TNA and was all "Brother" this and "Dude" that.
He is apparently comfortable on the stick, he just needs to dial back on that cringeworthy catchphrasy shit by about three notches and find more of his own "voice". You're a heel, shithead, stop pandering for the chants and reactions: just ignore it.
TL;DR - the guy has what it takes to be a huge star for TNA, BUT not when you try to force it like he does and oh-so obviously apes one of the biggest names in wrestling history to do it.

Fan, TNA are fucking stupid. They chose Bubba the Love Sponge over Awesome Kong. You cannot objectively tell me that TNA seeing something in a guy is any form of qualitative endearment.
He's confident on the mic, but so is Miz. So was Kennedy. So was Road Dogg. So is Orton. So is Triple H. So is the comic at your local club. So is the racist down at the pub. Some people confuse being a confident talker with being a good talker, and some people confuse being a good talker with being a good promo. Saying "Yeah!" over and over again until a parrot repeats it does not sell television or pay-per-view.
Miz is awesome but I'll agree with the Miz comparison. Do you think the Miz is bland as well?
Miz is...it's tough. There are times where I have gotten into him. When he was Mr. Money in the Bank I quite enjoyed him, for example. He tanked business though. People are gushing over him at the moment, because he cut one goodish promo. I think that's just conditioning to the modern scripted era.
Promos are supposed to be from the heart. They're supposed to sell yourself, your opponenet and your match to an audience. Miz may have successfully done that on Talking Smack, but I think it stands out because no one else is cutting real promos...at all.
I think expectations have always been tremendously low for The Miz, so when he does something average people think it's good, and when he does something good, people think it's great. That's why he always tends to sink below whatever station he is pushed to. He'd make a great manager, because he can talk, probably understands what a good promo is, can bump, and won't steal the spotlight from the stars, because he's just not that good.
I've also really liked his commentary. He really puts guys over. If he could focus on that once his in-ring career is done, I can one day see him calling a WrestleMania to be honest.
He may have been mentored, but I think a part of it might have just been TNA hiring him because they read his Wikipedia page, are horny for anything resembling "fame," and told him to act like The Rock.
He does need to find his own voice, and his comfort on the mic will make that easier for him if he chooses to do it, and he doesn't cling to this shtick that a few mutants in the Impact Zone follow.

Update regarding TNA's roster once again found out about TNA's money problems and mysterious new investor because of the sheets and not because management told them anything.
Also seems like instead of having enough money to last for the rest of the year, TNA only got enough money to last till the end of November.
None of the TNA talent have been told anything about funding. Even though everyone expected to hear something, nothing was told to talent, management or staff last night and whoever and however the funding came in to do the TNA tapings has been kept secret. The line about Billy Corgan in the Drew Galloway interview was something he was told to acknowledge as they wanted something along the lines on the show where it would be subtly said Corgan wants to buy the company. The good thing for TNA as far as imminent issues, after taping this week, they are seemingly okay until at least the end of November.

As for the #BROKEN stuff getting more over than Roman, it's simple: it got over on its own terms.
People who are fans of it, legitimate or ironically, bought into it completely in all of its hokey pleasure. It is what it is. Meanwhile, Roman is hand-picked to be in the mold of a highly marketable superstar, and it is super obvious that he's hand-picked to be in the mold of a superstar, but the majority of the fans aren't buying into it whatsoever.
Goes back to my "franchise quarterback" analogy I made about something else (though I can't remember what). Matt is that QB who has been around the league, rode pine behind several starters, including his brother, then found his squad to become the leader of by doing his own thing with no pressure behind. Didn't happen overnight. Reigns was groomed from day one* to specifically pick up the mantle from Cena; and anything else in the world be damned. Ask Tim Tebow how well that works.
Matt developed this character. Developed this character. Developed character. Developed. Character. Developed this character; a persona OF a persona. Changed the perception of his brother from attention hog into his lackey/heavy, incorporated his wife, his son, his "gardener", a drone, and A GODDAMN BOAT into a mythos that has taken a life of its own. Add in the Sharknado level of camp and production value to their backstage stuff specifically that it's better/worse that Lucha Underground at the same time. All of this clicks. Especially with developed characters.
Then there's Roman. He's "The Guy" don't you know. Bray hated him for reasons. He barely survived a Lesnar onslaught... aaaaand... uhhh... he was a dick to Rusev and his wife...? So, in about two years, he went from silent heavy to... a dick? And not a dick in any memorable, despicable, or redeeming way. Just a dick.
And he wears a chest protector. Not as well as D'Lo, who made an angle out of it. Hell, D'Lo had more character in midcard hell (chest protector frog splashes *maybe* should be banned, Euro-Continental Champion, cocky head bobble/smirk, was Mark Henry's friend to help him "get in shape") than this guy we are supposed to just fellate as a main event level talent. I literally just remembered more about D'Lo did as a character than this dude that WWE currently wants to be their figurehad. That's a problem.
The Roman Empire is what WWE thinks fans want. #BROKEN is what fans want. I mean that more figuratively than literally.

TNA majority owner Dixie Carter held a locker room meeting last night prior to the TNA Impact Wrestling taping in Orlando, Florida. According to several sources we have spoken to, Carter spoke to talents about a number of different issues and allowed talents to ask questions.
One of the issues we were told was discussed was regarding late payments to the talents and Carter stated that there are times were payments are made late, stating that is because the company is waiting for money they are owed to come in.
Carter was also asked about rumors that WWE was about to buy the promotion. Carter, we are told, acknowledged that WWE did want to purchase but stated that she would not let that happen, although she could have. Carter also stated that the company still owns their own tape library in regard to rumors that WWE was purchasing that.
Carter made it clear that she is still the majority owner of TNA but acknowledged there has been some in-fighting and a power struggle amongst the other owners of the company.
In regard to the financial issues leading into Bound for Glory, Carter said that the show was never not going to happen but acknowledged that they "scrambled" leading up to the PPV.
Assuming the stuff Dixie said is true, WWE's not coming back with an offer till TNA is actually dead/bankrupt. Also she might have accidentally confirmed the rumors of her and/or John Gaburick sabotaging Corgan's efforts to buy the company.

How wonder how much of her assets she had to liquidate to prop up the company until the end of the year. She goes down with the company financially she will have earned it. I would imagine she could have negotiated the debt into part of the purchase and come out of it relatively solvent

Dixie is keeping the company afloat with money from WWE buying the tape library.
Probably got MEEKMAHAN to put up money for BFG and tapings in advance with said money going towards whatever amount Vince ends up paying for the tapes. He basically put the tape library on layaway at Dixie-mart. Also gives WWE a several month window to see how the roster split is working and decide what talent from TNA they will try to poach when they go under a few months now.

I like this. Not sure what the new company will be but I had a feeling Corgan wanted to change the company name when the Impact Grand Championship didn't have TNA on it. Impact Wrestling wouldnt be bad but if he's going to rebrand he might as well get as far away from anything TNA related.
TNA is a stupid name and I dont know how it lasted this long especially with a female owner. Hell Nonstop Wrestling Action sounds a lot better and would have tied them to NWA more but TNA.
I'm excited to see what Billy does and if he can make money. I feel Vince is getting soft though. Letting Corgan take everything and rebrand it doesn't sound like Vince McMahon at all. I don't know but this might be just what wrestling needs is something fresh and WWE helping other promotions as long as they can have something for the Network.

WWE probably now owns the Impact Wrestling name so doubt that would even be an option for Corgan. Or at least they probably will once everything becomes official.
Also doubt WWE even cared about helping TNA with this deal since the sheets teased WWE only cared about the tape library and their offer being really low. It probably comes nowhere close to helping out the debt and money issues Corgan and/or Dixie are dealing with.

Probably not the debt but it probably could cover a few tapings.

This is very intriguing. I watched NWA TNA when it started all the way up the point when they switched to a 6 sided ring. That was the nail in the coffin for me. I'd be interested in going back in time and rewatch that stuff since most of it I can't remember much. I do remember liking The Ace In The Hole, Sonny Siaki & Desire. Wonder what happened to her!?!

Looking up wiki about Goldylocks..... apparently her real name is "Moon Shadow"...... also has provided the themes for a lot of the TNA brauds including Dixie Carter......

Don't remember who "Desire" is, but wiki had this to say about her:
After retiring from wrestling due to her back injury, Nielsen gave birth to her third child; the father is Sonny Siaki, who Nielsen managed in TNA.[3]
During her third pregnancy, Nielsen gained 80 lb (36 kg).[3] After being unhappy over being overweight and at the suggestion of Siaki, Nielsen auditioned for The Biggest Loser during a casting call in Atlanta, Georgia.[3][6] She weighed in at 252 pounds; 112 pounds heavier than her billed wrestling weight. She was the season's runner-up and by the season finale, she lost 118 pounds.

Damn, at Sonny Siaki
On September 17, 2008, Siaki retired from professional wrestling because he planned to donate one of his kidneys to his dying brother, Bernard. Siaki would only have one kidney remaining, and thus the doctor told him he could not wrestle anymore, effectively ending his ten-year career.[2]
Siaki appeared on an episode of "Family Feud" with his family, where he stated that he now works at UPS.[3]

Watched it "regularly" between the time where Christian turned heel vs. Rhyno (saw a bit of Christian's face run before that, but not regularly), and stopped watching I think right before the Main Event Mafia stuff happened..... Christian was feuding with Kaz I think......
I actually really enjoyed it during this time period that I watched.... stopped mainly because I was just so damn busy and had no time to keep up with it........

On June 8, 2002; The Shane Twins won the NWA World Tag Team Titles from Chris Nelson and Vito DeNucci in Lima, Peru. The twins appeared on the first TNA PPV (June 19) under the ring names "Richard "Dick" Johnson" (Mike) and "Rod Johnson" (Todd), known collectively as "The Johnsons". They wore latex bodysuits, which were intended to make them resemble a pair of large penises. The Johnsons were managed by Mortimer Plumtree until they left TNA after several weeks. The Shane Twins were then stripped of the NWA Tag Team Championships, as Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) would gain exclusive rights to that title on June 28, 2002.
