Paul Heyman and Brock come out.
Heyman tries to get fans to chant Goldberg. He fails.
They leave.

Did they expect Brock not to get cheered in his hometown?
Think it was the Observer or some other site/board that mentioned Goldberg never gets fully cheered in Minnesota even during his WCW days or the first feud between the two after it was known Lesnar was bolting.
Not even the great Heyman could make it happen the way the WWE probably wanted.

* Enzo Amore can talk, which is a shame, because he cannot wrestle or look believable in his role. The longer he spends on the WWE roster the less his shtick means. Karl Anderson can work and has personality, but he's chained down to a shitty "bald white men" tag team with Gallows. I have zero interest in seeing just how shit that match at HIAC is going to be.
* I'm not a believer that every big star needs to be on every show, but HIAC could really use some Jericho. Whatever happened to continuing the stuff with Sami Zayn?
* Reigns vs. Rusev does not need the cell, but I guess they want to continue to the illusion that Reigns is a top guy for the kids who don't believe in him. Rusev is going to be a huge star, just letting you guys know. Reigns will likely keep the belt, but you watch Rusev do a lot more with a lot less.
* Styles vs. Ambrose in a non-title match with a title shot on the line. Good lord.
* The Sheamus/Cesaro team holds no interest for me. They have made me stop caring about my favorite wrestler. This seems primed for Cesaro to turn heel in order to become a Tag Team Champion and break The New Day's hearts, doesn't it? Well, at least they're better than Gallows & Anderson.
* I HATE that they run matches that are going to happen at the live special on television. Sheamus & Cesaro could have beaten Gallows & Anderson or Enzo & Cass or The Shining Stars or another team that doesn't fucking matter. Why does it matter that New Day have held the belts so long if they are losers?
* I can't believe I had high hopes for Bayley on the WWE roster. This is the problem with NXT folks -- it is insular; the smarks choose their own stars based on no measure of real charisma. The same thing is happening with James Ellsworth on SmackDown; but at least he is getting over on SmackDown. They are really chewing poor Bay-Bay up. The company won't bail on her, because they probably know it is their fault, but she will be cold, cold, cold for a very long time. At least until Emmalina gets the belt and can be the bitch heel to her plain Jane that she needs to be.
* I like Curtis Axel. I hope he can make chicken salad out of chicken shit. His comedy stuff has turned him into more of an endearing personality than he was prior to it. If the fans can wake up to the greatness that is Heath Slater, they can wake up to Curtis Axel. But it's also likely that he just jobs, jobs, jobs until he is gone.
* Braun Strowman vs. Sami Zayn. Okay. Why not Jericho vs. Zayn and Strowman vs. Mark Henry or something? That could be where you fit a Curtis Axel.
* Reigns is such a fucking heel.
* The Shining Stars and The Golden Truth have been feuding since about the beginning of the brand split. This is such a poor use of all four individuals. Primo & Epico could be helping out some younger guys and R-Truth and Goldust should be doing other things. Goldust, especially, has value elsewhere. Truth...eh, I know why they keep him around, but he should be a heel to have some impact.
* Charlotte and Sasha kind of blew that big segment, didn't they? Better than Trish Stratus my ass. Foley is completely useless as a General Manager figure. I thought The Authority would have taken control back and fired him by now (not that I'm craving them back).
* So...Rich Swann > Brian Kendrick > TJ Perkins > Brian Kendrick > Rich Swann, Cedric Alexander and Gran Metalik? Do you get why people don't give a shit about this?
* Heyman tried to get the fans to chant for Goldberg in Brock's hometown. I'm intrigued to see how Toronto treats them. I honestly hope they put the match off until Royal Rumble at this rate. In a dream world, you could have the Rumble, Styles vs. Michaels and Brock vs. Goldberg on the show to try and sell out that dome.
* Rollins wins a non-title match. Fucking great.

I wouldn't creatively advocate for this idea, but imagine if Goldust was in the position that James Ellsworth is currently in on SmackDown? It would be working so much better and you can actually buy Goldust in the role because he has been somewhat of a phenomenon since returning in 2013.

Goldberg was never going to be a smark's choice anyway. And the crowds are now completely smarky because the casuals have been completely chased off. I like Goldberg more than a lot of others, and I appreciate that he is a genuine star. He pumped up that crowd last week, but until you get to a real hub and tests how that star power does there, your crowds in between are going to try and be cool to get themselves over as the guys that won't cheer for the superhero.
I'm still curious to see how Goldberg does in Toronto. Recently the crowd there has seemed less "trend-setty" than it used to be, but I can envision them being like "Fuck booing this guy, remember how big he was in '98?" and cheering the fuck out of him and making other towns go "Hold on, maybe we should cheer this guy?" It's a shame that's likely to be the end of his tour.
I'd rather they saved the actual match between the two until the Royal Rumble. Have Brock squash someone like Curtis Axel at Survivor Series. Those two are friends. Brock keeps the beating going after the match and Goldberg makes his way out, fights his way through security and Spears the shit out of Brock and gives him a Jackhammer.
I don't know why they thought they could turn Brock heel in his hometown. It may be more beneficial to put Brock into "Beast you want to cheer" mode for this match, or at least have Heyman cut a promo about how Brock outgrew these people to become a Superstar of such epic proportions you need to pay Brock hundreds of thousands of dollars to return.

Hell in a Cell thoughts:
* Sasha vs. Charlotte should headline the show. It's Sasha's hometown and it's the story with the build appropriate to HIAC. Sasha retaining is probably the right move here, since that belt has moved around so much. I've got absolutely no interest in what Sasha does after that though. Is it too early to move into something with Emmalina? Nia Jax seems obvious, but that will probably suck. This will be a nice pinnacle for these ladies though. Just don't fucking hug after the match.
* Kevin Owens will probably retain his belt via shenanigans, but I've always thought it a possibility that the WWE could switch it if they don't feel confident in Owens. Is this where we get Triple H? Chris Jericho will have to get involved here. Is it too obvious for Jericho to help out Owens? Maybe there's some sort of bullshit where Jericho "accidentally" costs Owens the belt and they tease a proper Triple Threat for Survivor Series? I'll read about this, but I have less interest in seeing this match than the ladies' cell.
* I actually completely support Reigns as US Champion. I think that is quite brilliant. I mean, he should be a main event heel, but for what they have to work with, I think it's a nice way to set up Reigns' microcosm. He should retain here. This will probably be the weakest cell.
* The New Day will probably keep the belts and keep going as champions until they break Demolition's record. Expect Big E to almost kill himself on a spear through the ropes attempt. Some miscommunication between Sheamus and Cesaro will leave things ambiguous so that they can re-challenge past The New Day's record because the WWE loves these teams that cannot get along.
* Do not care about Gallows & Anderson vs. Enzo & Cass in the slightest. I care more about Anderson's hot asian wife at this point. Gallows & Anderson are the opponent team that always loses, but Enzo & Cass are the team that always loses. Hmm. Enzo & Cass win because Vince probably sees at least something in Cass and gets a kick out of Enzo on the mic.
* TJ Perkins vs. Brian Kendrick will probably be the match of the night, but the WWE have done a good job of already Perkins just another guy. You might as well switch the belt and have Swann go after it, because nobody gives a fuck. They'll probably have Perkins retain though.
Man, my interest for this is so low. About the only thing I actually want to see is the women's cell, but I have no interest in where they go after that. I mean, I love Emma, but I think it's too early to rocket her straight to the belt.

Yeah, but that was a freak accident. Hogan actually tried to sabotage Bret's career and got cheered like crazy at Mania X-8. There's a lot that goes into Canada as a crowd. They've turned on their own when they are bland as fuck (see: Edge circa 2004). I'm really intrigued to see.

Owens should not retain. The best part of his reign has been Y2J. Owens is the third wheel in his feud with Rollins. You easily have the next 2 PPVs maim events with a triple threat (Rollins pins Y2J) and then Rollins vs Owens again with Y2J probably leaving again. Or have Owens go over Y2J and then challenge Rollins for the belt.

I think he was trying to encourage "Goldberg" chants by saying that they were starting to piss Brock Lesnar off. So if you like Goldberg, you are going to chant "Goldberg," but if you like Brock, you are going to chant "Goldberg" because a pissed off Brock is the Brock you want to see.

Owens jumped the shark with me at Brooklyn last year when his Ladder Match underwhelmed. Once you work out that Owens can be upstaged, the mystique of him is shattered and he's just a stunt man in street clothes that isn't as good as the hype lent to him. That's not to say that he isn't good in the ring or on the mic, but I don't think he's a main eventer just yet. Now he's had the belt thrust onto him and I wonder if it's going to do more long-term harm than good.
Rollins winning the belt from him due to some Jericho shenanigans and then the Triple Threat is fine with me. But I think they'll keep to Owens until WrestleMania where he defends against Rollins and Finn Balor in a Triple Threat. When Michael Cole dropped that line at Clash of Champions about their only being three men who have held the World Title and the NXT Title, I thought "Fuck, that's what they're doing at Mania, isn't it?"
It would be put together well in the ring, but it seems mid-card as fuck to me.

WWE did a really bad job trying to get the crowd to boo Lesnar for the sake of it and not because he did anything worthy to be booed. Having the whole promo be based on a very certain reaction early on and no real backup plan meant it was going to derail hard even with Heyman's skills. Didn't help it was also in Lesnar's hometown which is the one place you wouldn't expect him to be booed a lot.

Amazing how, in 2016, Chris Jericho has made "The List of Jericho" one of the most over parts of Raw.
That said, Jericho and Owens have incredible chemistry. I remember when Jericho first returned at the Rumble, that someone made a thread about how his constant returns and short stints that lead to nothing have made Jericho kinda boring and repetitive, yet, not only has his current run lasted nearly an entire year, but he is still evolving his character and putting on incredible matches. People will scoff at this, but as much as people consider guys like Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair etc some of the greatest, these guys mostly had the same character/gimmick for the later part of their careers. Jericho, well into a quarter century of wrestling and nearing 50, is still shaking things up and keeping himself relevant and fresh.
Guy truly is the G.O.A.T.
Chris Jericho is without question an all-time great

Heyman phoning it in lately.
Whole Lesnar / Goldberg angle seems incredibly forced... like they are obviously forcing Heyman to keep "crowbarring in" references to WWE 2k and transparently trying to get the crowd to chant Goldberg and stuff... seems bad...

Currently, I only put him behind Angle.

I am a Mick Foley fan but he has been incredibly cringeworthy as GM. His promo with the women was horrible, his acting was god awful and that whole promo was so forced. I get it, they were trying to push how dangerous hell in a cell is but that went on too long and even garnered some boring chants.

Roman said it wasn't personal before but now he will make it personal.
Interrupting someone's wedding celebration is pretty personal.

Another problem with doing a HIAC match anymore. What about it today makes it so "dangerous"? Shane throwing himself off was cool sure, but the competitors have to make it dangerous with their characters and what they do during the match. No one on the roster exactly has the crazy psychopath gimmick or is legendary enough at this point to make the match mean anything just by being in it (outside of maybe Lesnar or Taker, who aren't actually involved).
If Seth or Owens aren't going to do something crazy to each other in HIAC, and we all know with today's PG WWE, that's not going to happen, neither of them have the mystique or character to make the HIAC match important or meaningful.
Don't even get me started on the women having a HIAC match. Sure it's a first, but how is it really going to be any different than any other women's match we've seen? So what that there's a cell around the ring.

I'd quite like Mick Foley to fuck off, and that pains me to say as I've been a huge fan of his.

Don't think they need to go to that extreme, but again I ask, what about this is going to be different from any other match we see pretty regularly? Not only that, but why is the cell necessary in the match exactly? What's the point?
Oh yeah, "We have the cells but we only want to bring them out when it suits our schedule. Fuck the show! Who cares if it makes any sense!"

Out of the 3 matches Charlotte/Sasha deserve the Cell match the most.
However I do think they should do away with the PPV.

I'd quite like the writers to fuck off as they're what's dragged him down to that level.

Mick Foley is awesome. Remember commissioner Foley back in the day? That guy was awesome. He's clearly not the problem.

BigCrippyZ gets it. Feel like I could just quote him from now on and still be properly represented.
This women's HIAC match is so blatantly forced it's funny.

I agree with this sentiment. Come on, guys -- they've been feuding since 2013. That being said, the gimmick itself feels forced in 2016. There's no one whose persona really suits the match, as BigCrippyZ said. This PPV really needs to die a death. The same with TLC.

But then they'd have to get creative and makeup real PPV names. Its just laziness from a creative stand point to just name a PPV after a gimmick match. They love to do it tough.

Yeah. He might get too over and they'd have to fire him ala Sandow.
