Would have liked it at Clash of Champions with Reigns being more heelish, since crowds would cheer Owens anyway, but I think the time for me to be truly excited about that has passed. Reigns being the US Champion makes it odd too.

I think the US title can add to it. Have Reigns talk about how his title is more prestigious than Kevin's title, since Kevin's title has only existed for a few months and Roman's has a rich history. Have Kevin do his typical "nuh uh!" shtick and sprinkle in some Jericho, and it should actually turn out just fine.

All of this is speculation, but just the names Owens and Reigns on paper shouldn't be enough to start rolling eyes.

I could very easily see them putting Reigns over. Jericho taking the US Title from Reigns would be fine with me. I'd probably have Bobby Roode debut at Survivor Series and take it off Reigns, actually.

Reigns was getting a good recharge out of not being the main focus of the title program.

If Ziggler were to lose the IC belt at Survivor Series, a title vs title match would make a lot of sense especially if the US title later gets merged into the Universal.
Smackdown losing the IC belt wouldn't be that bad since they can beef up the WWE title scene with more guys from the former IC division.

I'd be fine with that.

I'd like to see Jericho end up with the US title somewhere throughout this program. Then I'd like to see Owens retain. Then when they finally do the Owens/Jericho program, they can argue about which of their titles is better. I'll let them figure it out from there.

Yes, take this new world championship which faced an uphill battle to matter as soon as the word "Universal" was dropped, and take another title which hasn't been worth dick since WCW and make it seem like that title is more important by trashing the world title belt.
A Kevin Owens victory helps to cement the Universal title as a big deal.
Eh.....i don't know. Not one win over Reigns just like that. Roman needs to be built up to be strong and then Owens needs to beat the crap out of him which isn't going to happen, unfortunately.
Or maybe Owens even costs Reigns his title on the way to Roadblock.
Well now we know they have to interact leading up to it which brings me to my biggest issue....

The fact that these names are on paper, at this point, 3 ppvs away is insane. Might as well just take all surprises out and tell us what the card for WM is gonna be.

I was watching a lot more. I enjoyed the Styles vs. Reigns program, but I did get a few headaches after WrestleMania. I was happy to see Cesaro back too.

I'd bring up Bobby Roode in Toronto to beat Reigns for the US Title at Survivor Series (too late for that now). I'd have Roode, Owens & Jericho as your top heels on RAW against Rollins, Zayn and Reigns. I don't know how you match them up at Roadblock most effectively, but I think Owens is probably best defending the Uni Title against Reigns at that point. Roode against Zayn and Rollins against Jericho works. Just keep it simple. The biggest problem you have is getting Reigns up to the point where he is a good challenger for Owens, but you can probably just have him win a Triple Threat against Zayn and Rollins. Jericho takes out Rollins because their issue is going to be personal, and it sells Rollins as the biggest threat to Owens' title, and then Zayn makes the challenge for Roode who tries to laugh Zayn off but gets smacked in the mouth for it.
It'll be a very Canadian Christmas. You can also have Charlotte vs. Bayley for the Women's Title, The New Day vs. Sheamus & Cesaro for the Tag Titles and Brian Kendrick defending the Cruiserweight Title. I'd love to get Paul London for a match a decade after their Ladder Match, but I think that's impossible. Maybe just one more match against Perkins and then a Rich Swann vs. Cedric Alexander match to see who gets the next shot against Kendrick? Braun Strowman can intimidate Mick Foley during a Santa segment, then Curtis Axel can come out and try to fight for Christmas and get killed. Have Paul Heyman do the commentary instead of Byron Saxton as a treat to us all. Already the most memorable PPV of the year.

I guess you don't remember the potential of John Cena's run. Didn't end well, but it MATTERED, and it wasn't that long ago. I understand you hate the Universal title, but it is the top title on Raw, and we're just going to have to get used to it. I'm looking at what's actually happening here.
Eh.....i don't know. Not one win over Reigns just like that. Roman needs to be built up to be strong and then Owens needs to beat the crap out of him which isn't going to happen, unfortunately.
I meant more in terms of Owen winning the entire feud, not just the first match. Probable? No. Possible? Yes. Just a rumor at this point anyway.

Re: ABT
You can make the US title matter without trashing the brand's world title is my point.
Why is it necessary to broadcast the main event this far in advance? What positives does it give you? You can have direction without putting it out for the public. If an injury happens now everyone knows you're scrambling which could open yourself to all sorts of backlash from the fans. Hell, if they don't like it right now, they'll have 3 months to shit on it if they want

Isn't it just the next Raw exclusive PPV? Smackdown has already announced the main event for theirs. In kayfabe terms, it definitely makes sense to name a title match for the PPV and to build the rest of the show around it, I think.
And yes, you can build the US title without the trashing the top title. Who's to say that they won't? They haven't even done anything yet.

I'm not talking about kayfabe, I'm talking about real world business. They have Survivor Series coming up, which they're trying to keep as a "Big 4" but they're already telling us to look past it and think about TLC and Roadblock. They're basically saying SS won't matter because the title matches are already set.
You suggested that about the US title....
Have Reigns talk about how his title is more prestigious than Kevin's title, since Kevin's title has only existed for a few months and Roman's has a rich history.
"BUY OUR SHOW! We're not sure about anything that will be on it, but you should definitely buy it!"
They do that with Raw and SD just about every week. They should, ideally, have weeks to build a ppv after one concludes. That card needs to fall into place ahead of time for the fans to see, but they need to be promoting SS and not the other two right now. Doing this tells us not to think of SS as a "Big 4" or not at all.

I miss when they would announce PPV main events months in advance out of necessity. It's a good strategy in theory.
Of course when the guys interact on a weekly basis and trade wins in various tag matches back and forth for months it kinda kills the hype.

That was when they had 4 ppvs a year and no where near as much TV time every week.....apples and oranges compared to today.

Yeah, we're in a different era for PPVs. When you announce things too far in advance in today's day and age, it gives people too long to realize they don't care.

They'll probably just work off of Jericho's face pops and start calling Roman Reigns "the most controversial champion since John Cena".

Smarks like Noid don't like it because they are still upset that the injury prone Daniel Bryan didn't go over Roman at the Rumble. So anything with Reigns = bad to them.
Of course they also like Fandango and think he should main event.
Damian Rey 2.0
11-07-2016, 03:30 PM
Well I don't like Reigns because he's boring and saps the energy out of the building when he talks. And right now, with literally no seeming change in which they book him or in his character, anything he's in automatically seems boring.
Moving him into the mid card wasn't enough. He's just the same guy doing the same shit in the middle of the card.
A match with Owens also doesn't interest me, because, for one, we've seen it. For two, as Noid pointed out, one of the top two champs on your show has to lose. For three, a bullshit non finish, which could be a possibility, is also boring. I'd much rather they go different directions with both guys at that point.

You're actually right. I saw their Backlash match. I didn't really give a fuck because they've run both guys into the ground. I suppose it is the fault of everybody that doesn't care that they don't care, right?

Perception is important. I can't believe this needs to be explained to people in 2016. Maybe they will present it well and people will magically care, but right now, the general consensus seems to be "Nah, fuck that". But nah, fuck those people, right? That's a problem.
Ruien
11-08-2016, 08:17 AM
Who would you actually care about? IT has to be Owens vs someone. They will still be building Y2J and Owens. Bruan? Rollins again? Or you want some scrub like Zayn? I mean hell, it's a small roster with only a handful of people capable of being in the main event at this point.
I don't see how they an Owens into the ground either.

Mr. Nerfect
11-08-2016, 04:26 PM
You're possibly right, they might make it interesting, but there seems to be zero preliminary buzz for it. I think people are quite happy with Roman Reigns recharging his batteries out of the main event. The strong main event face push isn't going to work. They gave him his own little niche in the US Title division, and he can make that belt seem big time. No reason to abandon that plan.
Anybody Thrilla
11-08-2016, 04:28 PM
There's no buzz yet because they're still building Survivor Series. Who knows what will happen there or beyond? Possibly nothing, sure, but I'm at least holding out hope.

That will be a good match, but it feels like a settlement program for Rollins. I dunno, I'm probably being negative there. A program specifically focused on Jericho might bring something out of Rollins.
