Kurt. It's not even close.

Had he not gone to TNA this would be a landslide poll. Kurt has a star quality that Jericho could never begin to touch. Kurt's work is so far beyond Jericho's is not even worth discussing. Kurts promos are better as well. There is no factor that Jericho is better except the fact Jericho didnt go to work for TNA and tarnish his image.

Nope. Jericho all the way. My #1 fave of all time, and nobody, not even Kurt freakin' Angle, is gonna beat him.

Love Angle though, who doesn't?! But I'm a Jericholic through and through.

Besides... has Angle evolved himself as much as Jericho? Yes he can do super serious and goofy, but has he reinvented himself as many times, and as successfully as Jericho?

Still... Angle being a surprise Royal Rumble entrant, in the right city, has the potential to be THE biggest pop of all time.

Angle. He is the GOAT.

Gotta go Jericho. Angle's been the super huge fish in the small pond for too long while Jericho has never left the big-time...

Angle was top billed witht he biggest fishes of the past 20 years. Jericho has struggle to get that outside on WM18.

Jericho floundering in undercard hell in WCW, and floundered in midcard hell the rest of his career baring flashes in the pan. Angle was main eventing with Austin and The Rock less than year into the business. And out working Jericho at that time too.

Yeah I just started rewatching 2000 era WWF. I'm only to February, but even this far in Angle is way more entertaining than Jericho. In Jericho's defense he's in a program with Chyna.

But overall IMO Kurt Angle is in my GOAT category along with Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels. Those are the only two that could even compare.

And I always thought I was a pretty big Chris Jericho fan but these better wrestler threads have shown me how much more I like other wrestlers than Jericho. He's a very entertaining guy and his 2008 run is one of my favorites. But other than that run, he might be one of the most overrated wrestlers ever. He's great, but a lot of people put him up there as one of the greatest and he's not. Kurt Angle, however, is.

Hmmmmm..... I thought I would vote Jericho over anybody/everybody, but I might have to think about this one for a hot minute.

Kurt Angle was great, no doubt.... in ring-wise, I definitely put him over on Jericho.

I feel like the thing that Jericho did much better is being able to stay fresh, and to continually re-invent himself for new crowds and new generations.

Both were incredibly entertaining.

Angle's career is "hurt" when stacked beside Jericho due to longevity, and also all the time spent in TNA which I haven't seen.

Dunno. Really conflicted here, because I was ready to vote Jericho over anybody, even Shawn Michaels. Didn't think of Kurt Angle, though.

I think as a promoter, I'd love to have had either of these guys in their prime on my roster..... but if I had to choose only one, I would choose Kurt Angle due to his "legit" nature and how easily he fits into being a main event talent.

HOWEVER

As a fan, I think I would choose Chris Jericho.... just all the moments he has given me over the years. All the various incarnations and characters he played. Angle was good, but he only ever really had two sides to him. Goofy Kurt, and "super serious wrestling machine" Kurt. Both good, but he has not provided me with the sheer variety of entertainment that Jericho has over the years.

So, I think I will vote for Chris Jericho after all....... but I'll feel bad about it.

I really hate voting against Jericho, but Kurt Angle may very well be the best professional wrestler of all time. Total package. Even his bad matches are still good.

Kurt takes this round. Jericho is awesome to be sure but the only bad things I can even say about Angle involve his personal life and this isn't about that.
I still wonder what if they had mega pushed Jericho the way they did Angle would this be harder?

Really tough choice but gave the slight edge to Jericho for the vote.

Angle is better in terms of in-ring skills and as a bigger star status while Jericho is better in terms of promos and career longevity benefiting him more.

Feel just like with the Jericho-Styles matchup, Angle's time in TNA hurts him more than it helped although mainly due to problems with TNA itself. He had a longer career there but didn't have the same level of big and impactful moments there compared to his WWE time.

Gonna have to think on this one. Jericho had waaaay more potential than he was allowed to achieve. Was he given the same push as Angle I think this would definitely be far closer.

There's this thing about Jericho re-inventing himself, and I just want to touch on it for a minute. And, for the record, I LOVE Chris Jericho:

What does Jericho really do to re-invent himself? I absolutely praise 2008 Chris Jericho -- that is one of my favorite runs of all-time. The Nick Bockwinkel-inspired Jericho was a huge risk, as he shed everything that was Y2J about him. I saw it as a huge risk. But let's be honest -- this happened because the Y2J shtick was running low on gas. When he returned in 2007, I marked out, because I love Jericho, but he was an upper mid-carder playing main eventer and people rejected it.

Going through his career, there are really only a few variants of Jericho. There's babyface Jericho (with the volume turned right up in 2000, which was awesome), and there's heel Jericho (with the volume turned right down in 2008, which was awesome). What is unique about goofy "List Jericho" in 2016? It's the same shtick as his buddy-buddy stuff with Edge only goofier.

This whole "re-invention" stuff is a bit of a myth, is what I'm saying. In addition to that, the times when he has adjusted himself have been because he's needed to.

On Kurt Angle:

Was he ever really that big a draw? I remember hearing something about things starting to go downhill when they didn't commit to him being the top heel and pulled Stephanie away from him in that love triangle angle. Television ratings remained strong, but I was just wondering about Kurt as a draw. He was arguably the top star, along with Brock Lesnar, when SmackDown out-drew RAW.

When he and Samoa Joe did that MMA-style Cage Match in TNA, I thought that would be a cool way to "re-invent" Kurt Angle. Give him a more bad-ass and grizzled look. But regardless, the singlet aesthetic doesn't really soften Kurt up too much. He was basically gold for his entire WWE career, and he never felt flat like Jericho did in 2001, 2002 and bits of 2004 and 2005. People forget that.

If you could put Angle through some sort of recovery machine, where his body is fully restored, I think you'd have to be an idiot not to take him over most other people. He's going to need a Bret Hart, Steve Austin, Rock or Hulk Hogan to dethrone him in here. Or Shawn Michaels or Ric Flair, I guess. You're in for some very exciting match-ups.

Jericho is also American (semantics), but he never won an Olympic gold medal with a broken freakin' neck...or at all. So my vote goes to Kirk Angel too.

Also looking at Angles pic reminded me that Jericho was the first Unified world champ, Giving it some thought he seemed an odd choice to unify those belts given that he was still not really seen as top tier to the company then the fact that he beat Austin and The Rock, was the WWE just trying to give him the push he should have had when he arrived?

Went with Angle, but only because overall he just achieved more. Honestly I sorta regret it now. This one was too tough for me lol.

Both of these guys are the absolute cream of the crop in the wrestling world. These are the names that come up when you think of the greatest wrestlers between the late 90's and early 00's.

Both had amazing moments, worked brilliant as heels and faces, both had numerous classics. One advantage Jericho has is his work in WcW where he was a part of some extremely entertaining moments and how he managed to become a huge name in the WWE.

But Kurt Angle keeps it up there by managing to reinevent himself and achieve great things in TNA. When I think TNA, one of the first names that comes up is Kurt Angle because he almost single handedly carried the company on many occasion and has had some of the best TNA matches in the company's history.

This was very hard but overall, I picked Kurt Angle just because I really liked his post WWE work in TNA and maybe because I haven't seen enough of Jericho in WcW because that was before my time.

By a hair, I went with the Olympic Gold medalist!
