In this week’s Wrestling Observer newsletter Dave Meltzer reports that WWE is about 250 seats away from WrestleMania being sold-out on the primary market. The current seating chart for WrestleMania allows for 55,000 seats, which is significantly less than last year’s show in AT&T Stadium, which drew an attendance of just under 94,000 (not the 105,000 WWE claimed). Meltzer said secondary market tickets are currently averaging $120, lower than the $160 price tag of the least expensive seats this year. Nonetheless, a sold-out crowd for WrestleMania is a positive and indicates WWE will likely return to Orlando within several years to host another WrestleMania.

So about half the people will attend this year and that's a good thing? Confused. Why is it in such a small stadium compared to last yeae?

They'll actually make more money than last year apparently from this show because they rose ticket prices and are charging more for their travel packages (they added SD and admission to various theme parks w/ the travel deals this year).

Not sure on the stadium selection, still seems weird to me that WM is being held at a stadium with bleacher seating in the upper bowls. I think they could have sold out in Miami or Tampa -- My guess is Orlando pulled out all the stops to Woooooo WWE over. Camping World Stadium (like the Alamodome that hosted this year's Royal Rumble) is not really used for very much and (also like the Alamodome) has undergone expensive renovations in recent years. Outside of "Orlando City SC" playing there until their own stadium is complete not much happens at Camping World Stadium, so the city of Orlando likely bent-over backwards to win the E over when they bid on WM.

According to WP, Camping World Stadium can actually seat around 65,000, and the first time WWE was there for a WM (XXIV), that event set the stadium's current record of 74,635. I feel quite confident WWE has something up their sleeves to legit pass that mark as they seemingly love to announce new attendance records in stadiums/arenas where WMs are held.

Also WWE wants WrestleMania to have a vacation destination in mind. What says vacation destination for a family than Orlando?

That's the reason nobody thought Minnesota had a chance. Brrr it's cold. Fuck the Vikings.

Bigger Stadium? Been there done that (and I got the t-shirt)

It takes a certain level of skill to be able to spin a story about WWE selling out a massive stadium for the umpteenth consecutive year as a negative. Kudos.

LOL, I suppose that's why he's chosen Detroit twice in the show's history. Nothing says "WRESTLEMANIA!" like visiting the shittiest town in America.

@DAMN_iNATOR

That was not their philosophy 10 and 30 years ago. That's something they've clearly adapted the last 5 years.
