Hey it worked before. Plus it's his recovery, so he needs something to do lol.

I still think Ryder was a little ahead of his time with the whole internet self marketing thing. Dude made himself a star. WWE just didn't know how to translate his online presence to the ring.

He did. He was white hot for a bit there.

Yeup he played a big role in WWE embracing the importance of social media and Youtube in general. Vince's way of rewarding him for this was to just pull several pranks on him and quickly toss him to the side shortly after his US title win.
He could have at least been a decent or reliable mid-carder had the WWE actually put some real effort or care into building his star power.

He got his Mania moment winning the IC title.

Only to lose it right away and fall back into nowhere land

Probably wouldn't have happened had others in the match not petitioned for him to win it according to the sheets.
Only real bright side was it did give the WWE a really easy and lazy way for the Miz to get even more heat for his heel character.
They should repackage him as someone serious. I've always loved when someone makes a comeback and they come running out in a t-shirt and jeans and start working a guy over. The look is great and I think that could boost Ryder a lot.

I would love to see Ryder, while he's not on air, get his own show on the WWE network. Have him do interviews with other wrestlers, let him do some announcing on NXT, something!
Unless it's someone they want to hype up for a major return I feel WWE should do more with injured stars. Let them be managers, backstage interviews, why not just make a WWE Comeback" show on the network where they highlight someone out of commission?
