So I was thinking. Marty Jannetty was probably never going to be a main event guy, but look back to 1993 and here was a guy who was relied heavily upon by the company (in between stints of being fired) to lift quite a heavy workload. He pretty much delivered all the time.

If Marty could have kept his fucking shit together, what would have become of everyone's 2nd favourite Rocker?

I honestly think he could have been a main stay legend type and literally feuded with Shawn Michaels for almost his entire career he was THAT good. He just kept fucking everything up because he's a dumbass hick. He never would have been THE guy but he could have solidified the IC Title division. I honestly believe for all the talk that Vince didn't have much faith in him as a draw, if he was able to get himself under control I personally believe Vince liked him and would have used him a lot because he was a very likeable personality. I remember being a kid and fucking loving everything about him. White meat baby face fire personified and I mean that as a complement. You believed Marty 100 per cent as a babyface.

What would have happened to Marty if he could have kept clean?

Never followed the guy, but did see some of their matches. I don't see why he couldn't have stayed in a mid card role if he stayed relatively clean?

Solid star for the IC division seems about right.

Could also have been like Jericho and be a reliable hand for building future stars had he stuck around a bit longer or his final years in the WWE went differently. Maybe he could have played a meaningful role in the rise of Stone Cold prior to the Austin-Hart feud.

He would have been the Brutus Beefcake to HBK's Hogan... only instead of being there for an awesome rise of a legend, he would have been an iron ball tied to Shawn's ankle.

Marty was supposed to be the one to break out for a long time. His problems though were so terrible.

Marty would have faded away in the Attitude Era. He just didn't have that "it" factor that Shawn did

Marty Jannetty would have been remembered as better than Shawn Michaels. Because he was. And a multiple time WWE Champion.

IMO would have still been somewhat featured. Never would have been Shawn but if he kept his head on straight he could have worked out as a mid card stand out.

Then could have transitioned into sycophantic road agent a la all the other road agents.
