But then Owens went on to become champ, while Sami went on to just flounder around not doing much of anything except for periodically emerging to get his ass kicked by Braun or fight Kevin Owens randomly.

I feel the exact opposite. I've been really looking forward to this Mania. Lots of long term storylines coming to a head, multiple matches that could steal the show, a nice mix of entertainment. I feel like this is going to be a really good one. Better you didn't pay though if you're down on the product. No point wasting money and precious time on something you no longer enjoy.

I know there are people who are entertained by that, there must be and that is ok. I'm not going to tell people what is entertaining and what isn't but imo you can't tell me that the quality of the show is not related to the decline in ratings.

Not interested in a debate about ratings and what it means, blah blah blah. I am just saying...That is really tough to get through. Every segment seemed so boring and lifeless. One little example was Aries/Neville...They were given so much time and i am LESS interested than I was going in to the show. Where is the intensity? Swinging hips with the new day? I thought there was real heat between these two?

Boring woman's match, listless tag build, just talking, talking and more talking. I am watching a genuinely boring show that I physically can't make through 3 hours of.

This was meant to be the biggest RAW of the year so far and have me wanting to see every match. Even the biggest defenders of WWE should question whether tonight really did that. It seemed endless, there is never anything new or different.

It is horrendously put together and it feels like everyone is just looking at their watches, repeating things until they get to 3 hours. It is lifeless and it sucks.

I didn't watch for about 7 months last year and really wanted to get into things for Mania. I am hoping it is really good on the night, but I think I will be unsubscribed from the network after that. Life's too short and all that.

Really hate to be THAT guy who tries to watch and complains...But THAT was the go home RAW for Wrestlemania

My suggestion is NEVER attempt to watch RAW for 3 hours. You will be disappointed 90 per cent of the time at least. If you're more picky with it, you'll only see the segments you care to see and you won't hate it so much.

I didn't get to see the whole show, but what I saw was effective. Maybe it's because I feel like they did a really strong job building all the matches prior to this, that they didn't need to do anything crazy to sell me on the show. When they went through the card, virtually every match has an excellent reel of things that happened to get to the match.

I've always found the less time I spend on places like this, the more I enjoy the product. That may not work for you, but I feel like places like this, people feel the need to one up each other on negativity. I'm keeping my eye on it, and looking to fix things, eventually.

Pretty lackluster Raw considering it's the go-home show. Raw tag titles being defended in a ladder match would be sick, though.

Oh, the highlight was probably Roman Reigns' heel promo though! Made a refreshing change, really sounds like they might go with a "you wanna boo me? Fine, go fuck yourself" kinda attitude with Reigns. Him putting down Goldberg and Cena, would make for some cool matches and his aura and personality would come across a lot better as a heel.

Show did a good job of setting up the matches for Sunday. Lots of long-term stories [hopefully] wrapping up, which is what WrestleMania should be.

It just wasn't very entertaining. Though it did remind me why I don't usually watch live, so that's a plus.

Yes! I know he's kinda "been heel" for months, but I love that they're going all the way with it.

I've really enjoyed SmackDown since the draft, and have made it a point to watch every week. Raw has been far more up and down for me, I rarely get through the whole show in one go.

As far as Mania is concerned though there are only about 2 or 3 matches that really pique my interest. Enough to go back and check them out the next day maybe but not enough to watch the full 7 hour show in one sitting.

Win or Lose roman has to DESTORY the undertaker. Preferably after the match. Would mean more from him if he wins though, but if they are trying to do Cena/Taker next year he shouldn't.

That's the spirit, think about the bright side. I did think they were teasing a ladder match. Although triple threat is no rules, so maybe they just incorporate ladders into the match at Mania.

I enjoy SDL as well because I like that it is paced differently than RAW. I don't usually sit through either show in its entirety in one sitting because of other commitments, but I find them both to enjoyable enough to keep watching. Could it be better? Sure. Is it a fun way to zone out in front of the TV, yeah it is. And to me anyway, it can be genuinely entertaining. They've provided me a lot of good memories over the years, which I appreciate.

I dunno, maybe i am being harsh, it just feels like there is so much filler and you miss nothing by not watching anymore.

Gone are the days of genuine stars and must see TV I guess.

Almost guaranteed match quality will be great as always on Sunday though, which wasn't always the case in the past.

That too!

I watched a shoot with Nash about what booking Nitro was like when it was 3 hours and he said it was a nightmare and that they just struggled to fill 3 hours before Thunder.

It made me think that this is the major problem. Smackdown seem to produce an, at least, competent show with 2 hours. It is tighter, there is no filler, and i find myself a bigger fan of a lot more guys on that show.

Maybe 3 hours really does take a bigger toll than it should do on the face of it.

Same here but the thing I love about the WWE Network is by not paying $50 I don't feel like I have to watch the whole show. Don't think I've watched a whole PPV since the Network was created. Will watch matches I want to see live and skip what I don't. For Wrestlemania I'll probably checkout the battle royal, Neville/Aries, Raw Tag Titels match, KO/Jericho, Styles/Shane, and Orton/Wyatt.

Watch an episode of RAW from say 1999, a lot of its not very good. The action today is far superior. The product is less embarrassing today. The storytelling is better.

I personally find three hours to be on the heavy side, that's why SDL flows better to me. But the third hour is likely here to stay, and it still does a really strong number, so it's tough to justify getting rid of it. I don't believe going back to two hours would suddenly result in an extra million viewers per week. Is a tough spot.

Outside of some rare instances, the third hour has been the biggest cause for why overall numbers have been dropping for years. Its also been among some of the lowest ever in WWE history as well.

Only reason they'd keep it is because of money and WWE having nothing strong enough to cover the revenue gap. Like WCW, its pretty much a catch-22 since neither them nor USA Network are happy with it but at the same time, WWE can't afford to lose that extra revenue money.

The fact that this was the go-home Raw for WrestleMania is crazy.

Raw was so incredibly shit that I actually felt really bad for the crowd. They paid money to be there live and all they got was promo after promo after promo and vignette after vignette after vignette with the occasional match here and there and even then, the matches were no more than ten minutes long.

There were only four matches and together, they racked up around twenty-five minutes.

That's twenty-five minutes of wrestling that was shown on a three hour long wrestling show.

The rest of the time was taken up buy talking (promos & vignettes). That's insane.

The only highlight for me from Raw was seeing that Curtis Axel actually made it to television.

I feel like that's what go home shows for Mania are generally like though. Everything is set, you can't do too much with matches because you don't want key guys losing. They are locked into the 3rd hour till the current tv contract ends. Wouldn't be surprised if there was a buyout clause for that hour if USA Network wanted to drop it but they already are losing a ton of money from the tv deal that its probably cheaper to just let it expire instead.

As of now, tv deal hasn't been profitable at all for USA Network because they are paying for the extra hour, paying to make Smackdown a live show, and paying WWE more than they get back in ad revenues. Its a huge reason why them and NBC started to go after bigger name advertisers since they need to close as much of that revenue gap as possible.

WWE benefits the most now but the lower their audience gets, the harder its going to be to keep those high paying advertisers to stay for the long term.
